Well a month before finally getting an answer i got a small amount of marijuana posession ticket and they denied my petition. Months later, a day before my mothers birthday i was woken up at my fiance's (now wife) house and detained by ICE. We hired a new lawyer to help us fight the case. This reminds me a lot of what happened last year in Soccer for a team called Violette AC. The team was playing in a big international tournament and had a game in Austin Texas, but weren't allowed to bring a lot of their best players because of Visa issues. They ended up having to find other players in the US to join the team last minute just to play the game in Texas. They ended up advancing past the first round anyways, but the whole immigration process almost completely messed everything up for them. They were one of the coolest underdog stories last year, recommend looking up the Athletic's article on them- "How Violette AC overcame violence, visa issues to beat Austin FC in CONCACAF Champions League".

I feel you exactly Charlie. I work in permitting throughout the state of Florida, and it feels like at least half of the building departments are out to actively be as unhelpful as possible. They will give you partial information, or one person will tell you one thing and once you follow what they requested it immediately gets flagged as wrong by someone else. Its incredibly frustrating how incompetent those in charge of these processes are and how unclear the regulations are.
My job has me communicating with permitting departments across many FL municipalities and boy howdy you ain’t lying. Typically I’m looking for how to close an unresolved permit and I’m lucky if half of them ever respond with anything beyond a canned reply. Frustrating.
I know. I just got laid off from my job a couple weeks ago. Ive been trying to file for unemployment until I find another job, and they make it as difficult as possible, making you fill out all this info but can magically figure out when you make a mistake, instead of having you just fill out basic info (legal name, address, SSN, last job worked and why you dont work there) and they do the rest (tax info, confirming your unemployment, etc) Other states apparently make it so much easier
I am pretty sure it is not incompetence. Especially since esports has had these problems for a while. Taking funding away from legal immigration and then fearmongering about the big groups that gather to wait for it has been politicians favorite pass time. There are some great interview with immigration lawyer on the majority report that puts a little bit of light on the case.

It's not just the Esports world. It's the entire US Visa/Green Card/OPT experience. For some reason, we've made it the most difficult unrealistic process for any person hoping to live or work in the country. I went to college in NYC and met a lot of classmates who came from other countries - specifically Mexico, Brazil, Australia, France, AND EVEN CANADA - and the stories I hear from them about the hoops they're forced to jump through to try and get approved to stay in the states and work are INSANE. I might mess part of this up, cause it's only what I remember, but an OPT is an optional practical training period for undergraduate and graduate students to work for a year in the states with a student visa. There is some sort of credit mechanic where you may gain a work visa if you do enough, but the only credits that apply are those that fall specifically in the category you studied for, so if you studied forensics, better be working in forensics for most of that immediate year or credits won't apply. EVEN THEN, the most work-loaded hard-working ones I know still fell short of what they needed and I'm heart-broken at any of them having to go back home because of how unnecessarily difficult it is to be here. IT'S INSANE the process for them is: go to college and complete the curriculum apply for OPT work under OPT Find an employer who is willing to sponsor you and apply for an H1-B Visa (only an employer can do so) get approved and work under an H1-B Visa apply for a green card wait years probably get green card wait out the FIVE YEAR PERIOD before being eligible for citizenship apply for citizenship and complete unnecessary test. or they can find someone to marry and unfortunately it's almost a more realistic avenue to follow. I never knew how insane it was until I wanted to help them and had my soul crushed just by the arduous insanity that all of this is.
I work in “talent acquisition” and Canada is even worse. I was actually gonna say the exact same countries as you for my example but you already know so it’s kind of a moot point 😂. It’s insane how many times they’ll ask you for additional info that you already provided BECAUSE THEY CAN’T READ.
I literally couldn't agree more because I am in that exact state of my life. I am in my opt right now and its finishing in August and I don't think I can get h1b through this company. We'll see how it goes.
Yeah it's always been that way for as long as I an remember and things have just gotten tighter. It's a red tape-filled, heavily scrutinized affair. Applying from a non-UK/EU/Canada country can be a nightmare, especially one considered a 'third world country', unless it's in a field that is really underserved and valued and your qualifications top notch. And they might not always tell you why you got denied either.
I think it was the idea of a company being good to their employees that really threw off the agent. He/she probably thought that you guys must be running a shady operation because no American company would ever offer such a nice contract for their employees!

i feel the same about the australian immigration system. i've been helping my dad try to renew his passport for 3 years and it is so goddamn frustrating. before the 1990s nothing was electronic and the only visa records was whatever stamped in your passport and if you haven't left the country since then your visa information isn't digitised. so because of this we had to apply to get his digital visa record but they wouldn't verify it because he goes by an alias on ONE of his IDs, despite that alias also being listed on the passport that he arrived on. so we got sent back and forth between home affairs (immigration) and the name change office for 2 years to try and 'prove' his identity. fucking ironic that he's been paying tax for 50 fucking years under this name and they didn't have any trouble 'verifying' it then.

They continued to charge my family and only when we threatened to stop paying did they finally send my papers in.
Well a month before finally getting an answer i got a small amount of marijuana posession ticket and they denied my petition.
Months later, a day before my mothers birthday i was woken up at my fiance's (now wife) house and detained by ICE.
We hired a new lawyer to help us fight the case.
Her and her assistant continuesly messed up on the paperwork and each time it costed me another month of detention i spent 4 months in a county jail with other detained immigrants and county inmates.
In the end i got my charges dropped but since i was already in custody i was told i could fight it but it would likely take over a year.
I had seen so much and hurt so much i gave up. In front of my mother, my now wife (we got married while i was detained) and my best friend and asked them to just deport me. Its been 5 almost 6 years now and im only just now recovering enough mentally to share my story.

IT'S INSANE the process for them is:
go to college and complete the curriculum
apply for OPT
work under OPT
Find an employer who is willing to sponsor you and apply for an H1-B Visa (only an employer can do so)
get approved and work under an H1-B Visa
apply for a green card
wait years probably
get green card
wait out the FIVE YEAR PERIOD before being eligible for citizenship
apply for citizenship and complete unnecessary test.
or they can find someone to marry and unfortunately it's almost a more realistic avenue to follow.

Visa applications and governments are notoriously difficult with the amount of bureaucracy involved. I hope you can get your Aussies into the country soon.
Facts, even security clearance has no turbo speed in that process
The fact that agents can just ignore proof and decide purely on their own biased ignorance should be a lawsuit honestly, especially when it affects an organization like this. My coach has been dealing with this trying to get his wife here for years now.
Since Charlie is in the US, and has a lot of money to spare, he could totally do this.
It's fucking pathetic that both of those have to be a requirement before you can sue though.
The emotions are so strong I can feel them coming inside of me.

Had the immigration problems you had, and after a year of battling with that, my agent called be after a while being stuck out of the country saying he will look at my case from the start. Spent an extra 9 months just for that, the system acts like you don’t have a life other than waiting OUT of the comfort of your home.
I don’t submit for the gifts because I don’t need for nothin but I love watching you donate to the people it feels very nice even as a stream viewer that doesn’t submit anything
@@p-__ very profound, well worded, I appreciate this reply

Marbles is a great randomized stream game, you can have everyone sign up for it so that could be a very good alternative for giveaways. Whoever wins gets the giveaway. Marbles is a game where everyone signs up via chat, and their marble gets sent down the ramp. The first marble to cross the finish line wins.
Wait thats such a good streamer game. No effort or work just watch the funny chat balls falling.
This needs to be upvoted more, so Charlie can see this.
The only downside I can see is that I think you can only participate through Twitch? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though

Yes! I love watching these haha
Charlie, you giving back to your fans when they donate shows you are an angel amongst mortals.
Don’t agree this is more of a clout chasing attempt to increase his viewership on his incredibly borin stream where he just sits and watch news.
@@MrUssy101How is giving your viewers things chasing clout?? Wouldnt he be trying to get his viewers to donate to him instead of it was clout chasing?
@@goofyrat2938 Sometimes, people become cynical enough that their world view is skewed the same way an overly optimistic person's view would be. Just in the other direction. It's part of how you get the folks that practically go "hm, yeah that's photoshopped" when looking at an object right in front of them IRL.
So the commenter likely doesn't believe this sort of altruistic behavior could possibly be genuine, that there must be some ulterior motive, even if it makes no sense. and if I were a betting fellow, I'd say it has to do with the media landscape constantly inundating us with the worst humanity has to offer, twisting our perceptions of how people often are.
Fortunately, it is not the case that everyone is a clout chaser looking at any public action with Mr. Krabs money eyes. Altruism does exist in reality, even if it can be difficult to find many times. You wouldn't know it from tik tok, youtube, or the news itself though. *Especially* not the news, lol.
Regardless, past actions by Charlie suggest to me that he is being truthful in this expression of emotion. He has a pretty good track record of being honest and willing to admit his mistakes in front of many people, as well. This suggests to me that there is a higher probability of him being earnest in what he's saying here. That how he's acted just paints a more consistent, reasonable picture of his character.
That's why he wears white shirts
@@MrUssy101dude you have 100+ comments on this channel, do you like this guy or hate him?
That’s the US immigration for you just a painful process and ridiculousness. I feel so bad for Charlie and his team putting in this hard work for nothing. I just hope everything works out for him.
But if you walk across the southern border, the process is delayed for at least a decade while you get to go about your life in the US. Should have tried that method.
Right that's why this is a massively successful immigrant nation

Your emotional thumbnail has seriously inspired true emotion to shine through me.
i feel the same about the australian immigration system. i've been helping my dad try to renew his passport for 3 years and it is so goddamn frustrating. before the 1990s nothing was electronic and the only visa records was whatever stamped in your passport and if you haven't left the country since then your visa information isn't digitised. so because of this we had to apply to get his digital visa record but they wouldn't verify it because he goes by an alias on ONE of his IDs, despite that alias also being listed on the passport that he arrived on. so we got sent back and forth between home affairs (immigration) and the name change office for 2 years to try and 'prove' his identity. fucking ironic that he's been paying tax for 50 fucking years under this name and they didn't have any trouble 'verifying' it then.
Charlie imitating a rabid bulldog is a pretty intimidating sight
Bro these bots
Meanwhile, if they'd just gone to Mexico, they could've just walked on in.
I really, REALLY admire you for the Christmas thing. I have awful holiday trauma, and I am so lucky to have friends similar to you who look out for me during December and my birthday.
What kind of trauma?
Bro got no Christmas joy😭😭
I hear you. Holidays can definitely suck. Lucky you have some good people around you. I lost my Dad in 2021 and I'm still trying to get back to normal. I moved in with him and took care of him the last 3 years of his life. He had stage 4 kidney disease. Now its just me in the house and it feels empty during those times of year. Here's to a, hopefully, damn good 2024. Cheers

I was alone during christmas stream, and charlie made it better. Then when he started giving away money without any fuzz about it I admired him for being a genuine good dude. I hope there is some sort of silly competition to get the money, like he picks some random numbers and they have to fight for it with some silly game
It actually went kinda like that for the nye one! Chat would type numbers and Charlie would pick a random one n then donate to the chosen #. I too was alone on Xmas :(
@@Icegrip12 yeah, I submitted the form, because I'm struggling in a third world country and it would be a blessing to have some extra money. Some people wanted it for toys or whatever.. But then, 7000 forms submitted, ouch! I meant that there could be a pre random numbers selection, and then a stupid game to decide?
When you do what your told, and yet they get made at you. They claim you didn't do what your told, and yet you did what your told. I'm been there before.
Imagine a marble stream game where everyone enters a number, and then the winner is the amount that gets sent
Dude you're an awesome bloke. God bless from Tasmania Australia
Love the generosity idea, and to make it more interesting for people, a lot of streamers use the steam game “Marbles” for community ‘competitions’. It’s nice cause it’s practically the same RNG as random number and wheel spins. It’s also really fun to watch cause it’s like a race
Charlie showing a whole load of emotions in one video is pretty eye opening.
great video, put this in the background while solving some formulas.

its highly unsettling
never have I met a streamer who so openly wants to give back to their community, I can't say I've always been a loyal viewer or a long one but now that I'm older, I really appetite what you do any your content.

I appreciate you’re giving back to your community that’s so so good to see! not sure if this is quite what you had in mind since you’ve been focusing on people. Maybe picking a handful of animal shelters and having people vote which pets you sponsor! Would be good content with pet pics, competotion & people having nice reasons they choose that dog/cat. Anyways huge fan, I appreciate how genuine your content has been all these years
seconding this if charlie does charity streams in the future! this is such a sweet idea. seeing people on the internet come together to support shelters and one specific little guy is always so wonderful to see ❤️
Wheres my money?
I remember when Wood from Beatemups did a livestream giveaway and in it, all the people who were participating were set up as marbles (or just a random ball) that would fall in an obstacle course until it reached the end and the person whose marble made it would be the giveaway winner. It’s not a competition (in the sense that no one has to be better than anyone) and it was interesting to see the marbles go down the course so maybe you could give it a shot.
That sounds pretty cool.
Plot twist, the agent wanting more information was featured in one of those incel texting videos
The fact the government didnt like that the players get to keep all their earnings instead of it going the company heads really says something
nice one charlie you show a single drop of your emotion and now i have a hole in my monitor
It sucks that a lot of government relations' results end up depending on the person you get on the other end. Basically being luck of the draw whether you end up with someone understanding, knowledgeable, sympathetic, etc. or someone stubborn, unsympathetic, contrary, or even purely spiteful.
That "agent" probably wanted some lobbying
what an amazing guy. giving back to his community. My idea. would be to keep the formula of voting but create a randomizer with the winner's number and bequest.
