Exactly, I highly respect it. In our modern day of convienence too many ppl are completely disconnected from this aspect of reality. IMO everyone needs to experience catching, dispatching & eating both a fish & a land animal at least once in their lifetime, preferably before adulthood.
It gave me a much deeper appreciation for nature, wildlife & our natural role within our ecosystem. And while it might surprise some, it has also made me much more against the cruel conditions & treatments in factory farming. Know where your meat comes from. Go support your local farmers & butchers who sell meat from traditional raised cattle, swine & poultry. Many Western govts are right now proactively destroying small & moderate farms under the guise of climate change (if this was the true objective they'd target the massive factory farms instead) so plz go help them out.

Not sure if im remembering correctly but i think those hogs were an invasive species in that area so its actually a good thing to get rid of them. Besides its the circle of life , Im native american so its in my culture to respect the wild life and only kill when absolutely necessary for food or self defense. Although with that being said if you accidently killed an animal or had to defend yourself you better not leave it there to waste. Cook that fucker up and use every piece of its body for something useful if you can.

I remember camping out in the woods in the Sabine River bottoms when I was in High School and my friends all told me that, in order to be part of the group, I had to be initiated by killing a wild hog with just a Bowie knife. They ran the hog towards me and it was so pissed off it came right at me instead of trying to get away. Kinda freaked me out, but I stood my ground. When it got close, I straddled it's back after side stepping it's initial charge, grabbed it by the snout and stood it straight up and sliced it's throat. I can still hear that high pitched squealing to this day. I held it down until my friends came and they drug it back to camp and strung it up to butcher it. They were all laughing, and when I asked why, they said killing the hog with the knife was just a joke and they were "pulling my leg" and expected me to run when the hog came.
