There is significant overlap - a cult is a sect. Most sects are cultish and centered around a thing, idol or in most case a false prophet.

The SDA church tricks people all the time. The Revelation seminars that are advertised by brochures never mention SDA. The first several lessons of the seminar aren’t held in an SDA churc.
It’s about the 6th to 8 lesson before the presenter says that they are SDA and then the Seminar moves to an SDA church. Adventists have been doing this for decades.

As I pondered the Adventist Church and their teachings, I found it interesting that the end result of Adventist teaching is that they believe
      1. The prophet Daniel prophesied Christ would build a great false Church.
      2. That Christ and *the Apostles founded the great false church*.
      3. Christ would give his body the Church over to Satan in a mere 2 1/2 centuries.
      4. And, the Apostles all worked together to teach the entire world to become members of the Great Harlot. *And, that even in 90AD the Apostle John was commanding and begging people to leave the very Church the Apostle John and all the other Apostles belonged to.*
      5. And the Church Ellen G. White and the Adventists built to be "The Saints" While the one Christ and the Apostles built would become Satan's Church. No, we have more than a disagreement. This we know, Christ was not Adventist, His Apostles were not Adventist's, and the Apostolic Churches were not Adventist's either. Moreover, neither did Christ, the Apostles or the Prophets teach certain days were Pagan.
The end of the matter is that Adventists abuse the bible to justify the fact they despise authority.

I just wanted to come on here and say both of your mini testimonies made me tear up. I am 3rd generation sda, on both sides of my family. I myself attended academy and all 12 years at Adventist schools. My great uncle was president of the European union back in the 80's. Despite growing up in this culture, I always questioned EGW, I just felt something was off. After graduating, I started studying for myself. That was 30 years ago. Anyways, my heart hurts for loved ones still in the church, I just wish I could get them to see. But I wanted to say thank you to both of you, and the work you are doing.

I was raised in the SDA church and from a very early age, I felt I could not reconcile some of the doctrines of the church and through the ensuing years, felt increasingly uncomfortable about those teachings but as a child and then a youth, I dared not challenge my parents and the church, but thank God, something happened that caused me to set aside the writings of Ellen White and read the Bible without the “support” of her writings and I can testify that I have never felt closer to God. There is something fundamentally wrong with the writings of White and I am more confident now than ever before, that her books are designed to mislead. Folks, please study your Bible and with the help of the Holy Spirit, you will be so well educated in the Holy Word and be drawn closer to Christ. 🙏🙏🙏

I grew up for a short time; age 9 -16 in the SDA church after my born again Christian father married my SM. So much of this is so familiar and am beginning to understand why I was treated so poorly as a child. In the last episode there was discussion of how SDAs believe they only understand the Bible through EW’s interpretation. That brought flashbacks to when I was about 12 and was in my room, I had decided I was going to read the Bible myself. My SM walked in and asked what I was doing, tersely, and I said reading my Bible. She told me not to bother cause I would never understand it myself. It stopped my dead in my tracks and I have really struggled with being able to sit and read it even to this day. It is something that stuck in my brain. At the time I thought it was that I personally wouldn’t be able to, but now understand it was that she believes no one can without EW. I stopped attending at 16. My father would attend church with her but never really became part of the church or followed all their rules, but 3 years ago dove head first and became a member and it has really changed him and I am very unhappy about it. Fortunately I have recently strengthened my faith and have been able to push back when he tells me things like I can lose my salvation if I am not constantly confessing my sins. I wish he could see these videos.

The Sunday Law has always been the ultimate boogeyman in Adventist thought, and any crisis can and will be used to spur Adventists that this may be the time. Here are just a few events from the past 20 years that were alleged by many that mandatory Sunday keeping was about to happen: Any new pope, Clinton, Y2K, 911, Invasion of Iraq, 07/08 financial crisis, Obama, possibly Ben Carson if elected, Biden, climate laws, COVID, and then COVID vaccine. It's always just around the corner.
This is why many Adventists are so conspiratorial and feed on teachers such as Veith and Bachelor because these teachers are always giving "pope alerts" and "prophecy alerts". They have perfected how to press the fear button in the Adventist heart to keep them transfixed.

I have had somewhat superficial dialogues with Adventists, where it SEEMED like we were similar in our beliefs on the main salvation principles. I’ve looked into some apologetics, because I always had an uneasy feeling that something was off, but couldn’t really get handle on definitive differences theologically. I had no idea we are so far apart!! This series is amazing, and I’m feeling much more prepared for the next discussion. 😊

Jesus knowing that the Sabbath keepers *would always persecute, revile and speak all manner of evil against his disciples* consoled them after this manner: Mt. 5:11 *Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely* , for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: *for so persecuted THEY (the Sabbath keepers) the prophets which were before you.*
The Sabbath keepers have a long history of persecuting and speaking all manner of evil against Christians falsely.
Then, Christ well said to the Sabbath keepers in Mt. 23 :34 Wherefore, behold, *I send unto YOU prophets, and wise men* , and scribes: and *some of them YOU shall kill and crucify; and. some of them shall YOU scourge in *your* synagogues, and *persecute them from city to city* : (Rev. 17vs 6, Rev. 18:24)
Now Compare Rev. 18:24 And in HER was found *the blood of prophets, and of saints* , and *of all that were slain upon the earth.* (Compare MT. 23:35 above) ….. Christ explicitly agrees with Rev.18, that the Old Covenant Sabbath keepers are the Harlot of Revelation 18!

    Two claims of hers:
“God would be pleased to see ‘The Desire of Ages’ in every home. In this book is contained the light he has given on his work.” Ellen White, Supplement to the Review and Herald, July 3, 1900
"My work has been in the field since 1845. Ever since then I have labored with pen and voice. Increased light has come to me as I have imparted the light given me. The summary of Ellen G. Whites *"Great Controversy"* argument are thus concerning the Apostasy of the Apostolic Church from her book, in chapter 3.
      1. The Apostle Paul and John warned that the Apostasy of the Church Christ instituted. And, that the apostasy of the Church along with the Apostles was going to happen and was already happening in 53AD and by 90AD, the Apostle John was already commanding people to *"Come out the Church Christ instituted upon the Apostles, the prophets and Christ being the chief cornerstone.* Thus, the "HER" and Harlot of Revelation 18 to EGW and Adventism is the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and the book of Revelation is begging all the Christians to leave the Church Christ died for and John, Paul and all the Apostles labored to bring into the "ONE Faith", ONE Body, the ONE Church to an end regardless of Christ promise to never leave it or the gates of hell prevail over it.
      2. The falling away, was NOT those who left the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. *but THOSE WHO REMAINED WITH the Apostolic Church Christ instituted was "falling away"* And, ONLY those who would LEAVE the Church would be saved, while those who followed in obedience to the Church would be lost.
      3. The falling away in her mind described in 2Thess. 2:4 *was caused by the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church abandoning the enforcement of the Sabbath commandment upon the Gentiles.* and that every Christian must become Jewish first, before claiming to be Christian (condemned in Acts 15-16:4) and the claim of Cephas to be Pope.
      4. Her claim was that Grace and faith in Christ and the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Holy Spirit was and is not sufficient to keep a person from murdering or stealing..etc., thus the spirit of lawlessness. And, that only by the LAW of 10 commandments could keep people from sinning, not by the power of the Holy Spirit.
      5. She also claimed that suddenly somewhere long before 325AD, the Catholic Church and THE POPE, who was the Vicar of Christ and no one in the entire known world protested. This was already occurring in 53AD when the Apostle Paul wrote 2Thessalonians 2 while at the same time the Apostle Paul as calling the Pope "Cephas" meaning Rock. And, prior to that Christ named Him "Rock" from the moment Christ called him and so did every other Apostle who spoke the Aramaic language, as Christ and most of Judea at the time. Only those who DISOBEYED the Church could be saved in EGW's teaching.
      6. Ellen G. White claimed by the time of Constantine, AND THE POPE, and the entire known world of Christianity had fallen away to join forces with the Pope and that was "The Great Falling Away" prophesied in 2Thess. 2:4 in *325AD* , *While at the same time teaching the Papacy didn't BEGIN until 538AD* 217 years later. *She and her "Great Swelling words" (2Peter 2 and Jude **1:16**) is a perfect fraud!*
      7. For Ellen G. White, persecution and martyrdom of the Church was a good thing and the church living in peaceful times was deplorable. She would have preferred that the torture of the Christians continued than have peace.
      8. In the end, Ellen G. White and the Adventist church teaches the Papacy didn't begin until 538AD according to their 1260 day prophecy, but that conflicts directly with their own writings which say the Papacy was already ruling in 325AD, which is 217 years or more.
      9. Ellen G. White writes explicitly in Chapter 3 of the book Great Controversy, speaking of the time of Constantine in 325AD less than 200 years after Christ: *"THE GREAT APOSTATE HAD SUCCEEDED in exalting himself “above all that is called God, or that is worshiped.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4. He (the Pope) had dared to change the only precept of the divine law that unmistakably points all mankind to the true and living God.* (Great Controversy Chapter 3. ….
"No such honor was given to the day by Christ or His apostles. *The observance of Sunday as a Christian institution had its origin in that “mystery of lawlessness”* (2 Thessalonians 2:7, R.V.) which, *EVEN in Paul’s day, had begun its work.* Chapter 3 of Great Controversy. Yet, there is no record of any "Controversy" about a change from the Sabbath to Sunday in the records of Church history. And, neither is there any controversy concerning Peter's place as the Rock Christ gave him. Acts 15-16:4 Clearly condemns the Judaizing of Christians and from then on every person who taught that the Gentiles were obligated to live as do the Jews, were called, "False brethren" and to be avoided.
      10. Lastly, EGW's and the Adventist's point is that Christ (God himself in the flesh) could *NOT* and did not *"Point mankind to the true and Living God"* And, that only by Sabbath keeping could they come to know God, period.

    Dear friends
I am SDA. I was raised SDA. I struggled with the SDA message for some time but through study and prayer I intellectually continue in this faith and not with “blind devotion. It is my prayer you will with open mind read what I have to say in response to these episodes.
The first question I have is why are these “SDA experts” featured? Why is not a current SDA member on the panel for discussion? Over the years I’ve been exposed to individuals such as these ladies and rarely can an objective discussion ensue due to overwhelming bias. In fact the majority of the “facts” presented here are skewed to fit their narrative. Where is the balance? It is clear the Apologia hosts have already made up their minds before the conversation could even give anyone the opportunity to make an informed decision? Where are the biblical texts to back up the information presented? Where are the historical documents?
We should have learned over the past few years,in particular, that ad hominem,“character” attacks should alert to the fact something is amiss; this is exactly what’s going on here.
It should also be noted that anyone who’s “ministry” is for the primary purpose of discrediting a group might ought to raise some eyebrows as well. Aren’t there usually two sides to a story?
For instance they call attention to “insider” Sabbath school lessons and other written materials. The sole purpose for this is to make it seem secret or insider or cultish; these “experts” would have you believe there is some conspiratorial information ONLY for SDAs. I find this laughable. A simple Google search and you’ll find this “insider” information. The fact is anyone can acquire these items at adventistbookcenter.com/ and most of it on Amazon; not so insider…
These “experts” would have you believe Adventists hold some distorted view of the soul when in fact we hold the biblical view of soul sleep. (Ecc. 9:5) www.amazingfacts.org/media-library/study-guide/e/4987/t/are-the-dead-really-dead-
They would have you believe the Sabbath doesn’t matter. (Ex 20:8-11). They poke fun at the idea of a great controversy between Christ and Satan. But doesn’t the Bible introduce such an idea in Genesis 3:1? Did God really say? (Questioning God’s authority); What about Satan presenting himself in the councils of God regarding Job (Is anyone loyal to God?) Job 1:6-12); Lucifer wanting to ascend to the heavens (Be like the Most High) Isa. 14:14; The temptations of Christ (who will you worship?) Matt 4:1-11; Or how about Michael and his angels? (physical battle) Rev 12:7. Do these not at least allude to a struggle? Paul admonishes us not to forget we do not fight against flesh and blood (Eph 6:12). What about Christ sweating as it were great drops of blood in Gethsemane? Is that only from physical strain or perhaps He’s become the Sacrifice and the sins of the world are laid upon His head? Lk 22:44
There is spiritual battle. 1 Peter 5:8-9.
Again I ask is it too hard to believe in a controversy between Christ and Satan? If that’s not too much of a stretch then ask yourself why do these experts along with the hosts of Cultish poke fun; ad hominem.
I would suggest reading The Great Controversy for yourself with Bible in hand.
    m.egwwritings.org/en/book/132.2?ss=eyJwYXJhbXMiOnsicXVlcnkiOiJUaGUgZ3JlYXQgY29udHJvdmVyc3kgIiwibGFuZyI6ImVuIn0sInNnX2luZGV4IjoiMCJ9#2
They would have you believe William Miller came up with a “theory” of a day for a year to back up his end time predictions. A day for a year is not his “theory” but is in fact supported by the Bible itself. 1844madesimple.org/year-day-principle/
Another point. Does not Apologia Church hold to sola scriptura ( I’m not trying to attack this church; the question needs to be asked)?
If so then why do it’s pastors not teach Sabbath observance? Did not God say, “Remember the Sabbath day…? (Ex 20:8-11) Is there any biblical text(s) giving evidence to authority to remember the Sunday? Did Christ come to abolish the law or fulfill it? (Matt 5:17-20) Which law did he come to fulfill? Is Christ not the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world? (Rev 13:8); Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial system. He did not nail the Decalogue to the cross.
Jesus has identified His faithful remnant as those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus (Rev 12:17).
He did not say keep part or almost or do away with one of the commandments or it’s okay to keep a human tradition ( because it commemorates His resurrection)…no He has said if you love me keep commandments. (Jn 14:15). Nowhere in my Bible is there mention of commemorating His resurrection day on Sunday. I am not admonished in my Bible anywhere to honor a man made custom in lieu of. I just can’t find it anywhere and if evidence can be shown to the contrary I’d happily keep Sunday if that is God’s command.
So why do Protestants keep Sunday? By what authority? Where is the command found? These questions need to be asked.
Have you looked at the history regarding Sunday keeping? Do some digging.
Here’s an interesting article written some time ago. www.practicaprophetica.com/books/atj/romes-challenge-why-do-protestants-keep-sunday/
In fact further historical study regarding the Reformation leads to the Council of Trent. You may be shocked as to what was decided. And this may be hard to read but the council found the Protestant Reformation an unwarranted revolt. Why? Because they claimed the scripture alone as sole authority but Protestants stated in the Augsburg Confession they keep the “Lord’s Day” as appointed by the Church (Catholic). Thus the Council of Trent ruled the Reformation as nothing more than a revolt. And look what happened in October 2016; Protestants have gone into ecumenical council with Pope Francis in effect handling over the what remains of the Reformation. You can read more about here: www.sabbathtruth.com/sabbath-history/the-council-of-trent
    And: amp.theguardian.com/world/2016/oct/29/reformation-luther-pope-francis-catholics
This is a vast subject and I could say a lot more but please do not take my word for it.
This may discredit everything I’ve said thus far but what’s been presented here is false information and false teachings. These well intending individuals are leading folks down the wrong road. Please. Please. Do your own study. I’ve provide links; you can start there. And I’ll provide a few more resources below.
At the very least read the first chapter of The Desire of Ages, entitled, God with Us. Use your Bible compare this chapter with scripture . I challenge you to see if this is “cultish”. We "MUST" follow the directions given through the spirit of prophecy [Mrs. White's writings]. ... God has spoken to us through His Word. Hocking i liked as he will cover briefly the different views pre/post/mid/a-tribulational views and why and what the problems are with each view. While most find Revelations difficult, while i agree with what J.Veron McGee use to say. Revelations is the easiest book to understand in the Bible, you only need to know one thing to understand it well. That is the rest of the 65 books before it... And there is the problem, given as small as Revelation is, there are 700+ or more references to/from the other 65 books. Just saying impossible to understand Revelation with out having the context from the other passages. And there is the problem, at least when talking with most people you run into at church, most have no clue what is actually in the Bible.

Most mainstream christians dont study revelation....for good reason. To them it doesnt apply to our time and theres really no benefit of reading it. If you follow a historicist method of prophetic interpretaion however, it makes a whole ot more sense. Which, in fact, is the way most, if not all, protestants interpreted the books of Daniel and revelation. It wasnt until somewhat recently, that mainstream christianity adopted some of these ways of interpreting prophecy. And it all has one thing in common. It doesnt apply to our time. Either future or past fulfillment of the text but nothing really for us now.
The historicist method will take you down through history allowing the bible to basically interpret itself, through reading Daniel and Revelation together and following history while doing so. It makes a whole lot more sense that way to me.

One topic that I think needs more discussion is the SDA understanding of what Scripture is. It is very hard to study with an Adventist as they often say 'that's not what the text means'' and then give an interpretation straight from Ellen White. Here, from the E.G. White estate is a quote:
    5. Verbal Versus Plenary. Mrs. White states directly that it is not the words of the Scriptures that are inspired, but rather the men who wrote them--the prophets were "God's penmen, not His pen."[91]
The semantic problem here is recognized--a given word may convey different ideas to different people. Yet if a writer or speaker is intellectually honest, he can usually convey his meaning plainly.[92] The same truth may be expressed in different ways without essential contradiction.[93]
Basically, "inspiration acts not on the man's words or his expressions but on the man himself, who, under the influence of the Holy Ghost, is imbued with thoughts."[94]
    6. What the Bible is not. The Bible does not represent the words, the logic, or the rhetoric of God.[95] "God, as a writer, is not represented."[96] Indeed, God says that His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are His ways our ways (Isaiah 55:8, 9). But the Bible does point to God as its "Author."[97] Christ "Himself [is] the Author of these revealed truths."[98]
    And the link is:
    whiteestate.org/legacy/issues-rev-insp-html/
So trying to study with Adventists is like trying to nail down jello.

What about the death of Christ from an Adventists perspective would you like to know? Adventists deny the one true and final atonement of Christ and here are two quotes:

The problem for the Adventists and their like is the fact that nowhere in the entire bible does the Sabbath is binding upon the entire world, or Gentiles or Christians. You won't find one scripture anywhere in the entire bible telling anyone to keep the Sabbath except those in the circumcised Jewish community, period. NOT one single verse. This whole entire Sabbath argument from the Adventist is purely and public display of their bible ignorance and arrogance. *For those who want the scriptural evidence that Christians are NOT obligated whatsoever to keep the Sabbaths of the Jews or meat distinctions, here it is right before your very eyes!* And, in this Chapter we find the foundation for *The Council of Laodicea in AD 347 which is nothing more than a reiteration of the decrees of Acts 15 by the Apostles themselves.* and the Anathema from the Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Galatians who stupidly taught the same thing as the Adventists and the Armstrongs. >
      Acts 15
22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the WHOLE church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:
24 *Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and KEEP THE LAW: to whom we gave NO such commandment:*
25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, *who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.*
      Acts 15:28 *For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost (GOD ALMIGHTY) , and to us, to lay upon you NO greater burden than these necessary things;
29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
      • These are commandments from God Almighty to leave the Gentiles alone regarding any Jewish holyday, Sabbath, meat distinctions, tithing, or any other Jewish custom.
      • ACTS 21:25 *As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe NO such thing*, save ONLY that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
There are NO sabbaths, no Jewish holy days, no Jewish New Moons, no Jewish tithing and leave the Gentile Christians ALONE!
You won't find one scripture anywhere in the entire bible telling anyone to keep the Sabbath except those in the circumcised Jewish community, period. NOT one single verse. This whole entire Sabbath argument from the Adventist is purely and public display of their bible ignorance and arrogance. The Adventist are guilty of falsely speaking for God, making void the commandment from God to leave the Gentiles alone and creating, Jewish fable and traditions of men, not from God. And, deliberately putting a stumbling block in the way of being Christian. For them, it's all about a pretended Sabbath keeping to hide their own sins.
The Sabbath is not required of Christians. The Fruits of the Spirit, which are by faith through the Grace of Jesus Christ are. See Gal.5:17-22 As Gal.5:22 "Against such there is no law!" Period,
Christ commanded the entire world to obey the Church, not pick up corrupt bible translation and start their own Church. The Adventists and their like just want to throw a stumbling block in your way, and they don't keep the Sabbath either.

    • @Notyelfox
      @Notyelfox 2 года назад

@Joel Villarreal... Again, I'm just saying. He referenced and quoted Ellen white. This will prove that some statements made by the ex-Adventist were incorrect, as well as, you can verify everything for yourself.
My goal in watching cultish was to see if I myself could view Ellen as a prophet, so far I'm inconclusive.
I personally don't agree that we should use her views to interpret scriptures, she also noted that if we read the Bible ourselves there is no need for her. This video stated that not all her writings were inspired. I also believe that Adventist use her too heavily when she even advised against this.
What's interesting though is that, there is nowhere in scriptures that support worshiping on Sunday as the day of worship. The catholic church has release statements that they change the day of worship to Sunday. The whole world followed. It is better to obey God than man. To be a Christian means to me Christ like. Jesus kept the 7th day sabbath.

    • @Notyelfox
      @Notyelfox 2 года назад

@Joel Villarreal so, she didn't call herself a prophet, and I'm not defending her either. My mission is to find out if I should accept her as a prophet because many Adventist quotes her when trying to interpret scriptures.
I'm not sold out on all the interpretation of scripture from the SDA church, however, I am sold out on the day of worship. Jesus kept the sabbath and I aspire to be like him. They're no documentation in scriptures where the day of worship was changed to Sunday, but I have shared a video where the Catholic church noted that they were the one that made the change. Who do you Obey, God or man? You don't need to be an SDA but you need to be a remnant. Keep the Commandments and have the testimonies of Jesus. Rev 12:17

    • @Notyelfox
      @Notyelfox 2 года назад

@Joel Villarreal not to go back and forth because my intention is not to convince anyone that Ellen is or is not a prophet. Unless everyone is lying, she's prophesied many things. In addition, what I stated and I stand correct, and even the examples that you listed does that say that she explicitly said she's a prophet. Based on the records, we could say she's a great guesser, but that defies probability. Do I myself think she's a prophet, I am still doing my research.
Do we need he? I don't think so.

    • @Notyelfox
      @Notyelfox 2 года назад +1

@Joel Villarreal I've spent over 40 years in the Adventist Church, I was never taught not to believe in the trinity, God the father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit. I've always understood that we're saved by grace.
If your primary goal is to win or invest your time arguing, then already your heart is in the wrong place. A lot of errors were shared during this discussion, I didn't say it was 100% incorrect.
I agreed that the Adventist Church esteem Ellen white to a level that has created a lot of "great controversies" lol. I personally don't believe in a remnant church. I believe in a remnant people. The most important identification I want to bare is "Christian".
I already have enough issues with the Bible itself. I wish God would speak to me more clearly but for whatever reason he doesn't.
From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the LORD.
      Isiah 66:23
That tells me that the sabbath is still relevant if we're going to observe it in heaven. No scripture said that the sabbath was changed to Sunday nor should it be interpreted to be Abolished.
The wages of sin is death, not torment, if we will burn forever sin will never be destroyed. According to Rev 20:14
“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
Adventist doesn't teach that hell is a literal place that is in existence. I believe this. So I'm not here to defend Ellen or Adventist, but they were lies in this video.

What it boils down to is these women as well as many others heard the truth but without a deep personal relationship with Jesus, misunderstood those words and took offense to much of it as did so many others they had come in contact with. They are out there. But when properly understood in the context the Lord meant, it's beautiful. When Jesus said in Matthew 24 to pray that it not happen on the Sabbath or in the winter, He meant it. To dismiss that is not dismissing Ellen White but to dismiss Jesus' own words. These women are not Bible believers and dismiss not only White's interpretations but Jesus' Himself. These are a prime example of people with "itching ears". They don't want the unvarnished truth, they want what feels good and sounds good. The Bible is beautiful and true through and through. To dismiss any part of it is blasphemy. Remember Matthew 7:13 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Don't take the wide and popular path and don't listen to extremists of any faith. Read the Bible and pray for understanding for yourself. That's what the Bible teaches us to do. Don't skim the surface and pluck out only what sounds good but take those "difficult" scriptures and ask questions of it, then search for other verses throughout the Bible that will help to clarify that scripture...a little here, a little there. Your understanding will be opened when you search and pray and truly want truth. It's not ok to simply dismiss what you don't understand and say it's not for us. Every word in the Bible was given to us as a gift to help us in our life's journey. When you figure that out and how to pray with an honest heart you can and will find your way.

@27:00 I am reminded of a popular book that seems to be written around this end time apocalyptic viewpoint called "Project Sunlight". published by Adventists. There is definitely a huge martyr complex within this sect. Regarding her advice on diet the very things she restricted she partook, animal flesh meats, venison, wine for stomach problems, oysters, as her assistants watched her eating these things they were confused as to why she partook in "these abominations" - there are letters of her describing the venison she ate as being "tender as chicken" and how they all "enjoyed it very much", then on the other hand she says "I do not tell my hears to do one thing while I do another". In terms of scriptural tests, Ellen white failed here when she predicted, yet again, the return of Christ in 1856. Adventists excuse this by saying that all of her prophecies are conditional (and they cite Jonah/Ninevah as an example of God saying something hen not doing it) and EGW herself said Christ did not return because "the church" did not "finish the work" - aka blaming the victim.

Rev. 18: 4 BEGS, THE SABBATH KEEPERS TO COME OUT OF THE HARLOT (the old covenant) AND BECOME CHRISTIANS! Something, the Adventist's will never do!
Wherefore, Christ said the following to the Sabbath Keepers:
23 :32 Fill ye up then THE MEASURE OF YOUR FATHERS, 23 :33 *Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell*?
23 :34 Wherefore, behold, *I send unto you prophets, and wise men* , and scribes: and *some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and. some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city* : (Rev. 17vs 6)
[COMPARE WITH Rev. 18:24 And in her was found the *blood of prophets, and of saints* , and of all that were slain upon the earth. ]
23 :35 *That upon YOU may come ALL THE RIGHTEOUS BLOOD SHED UPON THE EARTH* ,from the BLOOD OF RIGHTEOUS ABEL unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
[COMPARE WITH Rev. 18:24 And in her was found *the blood of prophets, and of saints* , and *of all that were slain upon the earth.* And Rev. 18:20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye *holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.* Revelation]
*Jesus Christ himself in person and the Apostles themselves, couldn't get these hard hearted Sabbath Keepers to repent* !
Rev. 18: 4 BEGS, *THE SABBATH KEEPERS TO COME OUT OF THE HARLOT* (the old covenant) AND BECOME CHRISTIANS! Something, the Adventist's will never do!
This is more than enough proof that Israel/ Jerusalem (home of the Sabbath keepers) *is the HARLOT OF REVELATION!*

      Acts 15:28 *For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost (GOD ALMIGHTY) , and to us, to lay upon you NO greater burden than these necessary things;

Don't believe in the IJ? Read this short explanation:
First off, we have this verse:
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? (1Pet 4:17, NASB 77)
That verse is the first hint. It is obvious that Judgement begins with Gods people first. Now that we have this bit of information, lets look and see what Daniel has to say about the "end of days".
Just before the stone without hands smashes into the feet in Dan 2 causing the statue to be smashed into chaff and it (those kingdoms) blows away, then Gods kingdom is established:
“And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and [that] kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. “Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is true, and its interpretation is trustworthy.” (Dan 2:44-45, NASB 77)
But what happens just before the stone made without hands comes? This corresponds to Daniel 7: 9, 10 - lets look:
A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: *_the judgment was set, and the books were opened._* (Dan 7:10 KJV)
      Then what happens?
“I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him. “And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations, and [men of every] language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed. (Dan 7:13-14, NASB 77)
Voilla! There you go - _"The Judgement was set and books were opened"_ - AND THEN the Son of man came and established His kingdom.
It is undeniable. There is a judgement that occurs prior to the Lords Return. THE BIBLE says so. Those who claim to be Christians will be judged first according to 1 Peter 4:17. We see that principle worked out in Daniel, and then Jesus returns.

The most surprising revelation about this episode was simply realizing how little Adventists read the Bible, and when they actually read it, Adventism no longer made sense. Though there are people in wayward “Christian” churches that are hardly seeing or hearing the word in their Sunday services or personal life. (Think Glory of Zion, Bethel, and their ilk.)
Totally OT, but it would be epic to have a series where a former Mormon, a former JW, and a former Adventist all sit down for a discussion on your podcast. Or even current members, though getting current members to come on might be super difficult and messy.

The words of Christ were full of deep meaning as he put forth the claim that he and the Father were of one substance, possessing the same attributes. The Jews understood his meaning, there was no reason why they should misunderstand, and they took up stones to stone him.” - E. G. • @joey6838
      @joey6838 2 года назад +2

      Again you are wrong
We have found the seal of God connected with his law, and in the third Angel’s message the worship and mark of the beast are put in contrast with the commandments of God and faith of Jesus; consequently they are in direct opposition;-the worship of the best is in opposition to the commandments and the faith in general, and the mark of that power stands opposed to the sign of God in particular. It is well known that the Roman church has not only corrupted the commandments of God, so as to allow of bowing down to images, but that she has changed and corrupted the institutions of the gospel-baptism and the Lord’s supper. To follow her in these corruptions is, at least to them that know the truth, a part of the worship of the beast. But the mark of the beast is not any one or all of these things, but a single, definite institution, opposed to the sign of God, which is a sign of his authority to make all these changes and corruptions of the word of God. It must therefore be a counterfeit Sabbath, instituted as a rival to the Sabbath of the Lord our God. Has the self-styled Catholic church given us such sign of her power? She has. Read carefully the following from the “Abridgment of Christian Doctrine,” a Catholic catechism of the first authority, from which I have already quoted:

@YAJUN YUAN From my studies (limited compared to yours): Torah[edit]
Mount Azazel (Jabel Munttar) in the Judean Desert
Cliffs of Mount Azazel (Jabel Munttar)
In the Hebrew Bible, the term is used three times in Leviticus 16, where two male goats were to be sacrificed to Yahweh and one of the two was selected by lot, for Yahweh is seen as speaking through the lots.[1] One goat is selected by lot and sent into the wilderness לַעֲזָאזֵל‎, "for Azazel". This goat was then cast out in the desert as part of Yom Kippur. The scapegoat ritual can be traced back to 24th century BC Ebla, from where it spread throughout the ancient Near East.[2][3]
In older English versions, such as the King James Version, the phrase la-azazel is translated as "as a scapegoat"; however, in most modern English Bible translations, it is represented as a name in the text:
Aaron shall offer the bull as a sin offering for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house. He shall take the two goats and set them before the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meeting; and Aaron shall cast lots on the two goats, one lot for the Lord and the other lot for Azazel. Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for the Lord, and offer it as a sin offering; but the goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented alive before the Lord to make atonement over it, that it may be sent away into the wilderness to Azazel.
      - Leviticus 16:6-10, New Revised Standard Version

My god. I was brought up an SDA in the sixties and seventies in Australia and my experience of pathfinders was nothing like yours! Photos of kids with guns pointing at their heads as they play act running from the government? Come on! That is shocking. The people in Australia i was brought up with were more ordinary and more rational than that. Apart from a few people in our church with eccentric beliefs - which struck me as very old fashioned and literal - we were not scared of the government and never thought they would kill us for sabbath keeping! The investigative judgment stuff was totally peripheral. As a teenager i always thought Ellen White was archaic and a poor writer. She had little to offer me.
And God had a body? Oh, maybe my dad told me that when i was about 5, but i got over that pretty quickly. My parents had been members of other religions and they were relatively liberal in their approach.
Also, why does the younger woman keep referring to SDAs as opposed to "Christians"? I have never thought SDAs were anything other than Christian. And then the Christian music stuff, as though the musicians she mentions have an access to a higher knowledge and understanding than anyone else. Yeah, some musicians are cool, but after you're about 25, don't you get over that susceptibility to charisma? Dont you become educated about religious experience and philosophy and psychology and the rest of the world? Most of the world is not SDA, and most of the world is not Christian. And many Christians are not into beliefs much anyway, they just tolerate the odder beliefs because they want to belong to a church. The older woman is right about cognitive dissonance being common in the church. It's common everywhere there is an ideology.
I left the church in the late 70s when i was 18. I became an Anglican for a few years. I lost my Christian faith but i continued to educate myself. I am not a Christian, although i like certain aspects of it such as the richness and beauty of the old testament language and stories. I am a Buddhist more than anything, and have an interfaith orientation.

But again I don’t understand what Salvation saves you from if you are of their Christian persuasion. From sin? What is sin then? All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Sin is breaking the law. What law? The Ten Commandments except the one that says remember, forget that one. EGW ate oysters. Really! Tying children to beds. Proof? These are bizarre allegations. It’s no small difference between “righteousness by faith” and “justification by faith”. It’s far from simply a “quibble”. In Adventism, righteousness is IMPARTED to you. You avail yourself to the “grace” of God who gives you the power to actually BE righteous…BY FAITH, but actually BE righteous you must. When Christians speak of “justification” it’s a legal declaration. A declaration that you are positionally righteous before a holy God, that is claimed by having faith in, or putting your trust in what Jesus Christ accomplished for us one afternoon in history. Christ's righteousness is IMPUTED to you or credited to your account and all that's needed to receive the gift is to recognize our sinfulness which offends the holiness of a perfectly righteous God, repent of it, and put our trust in Christ's substitutionary death in our place. Period. No works needed. No pouring over of our life history is needed in the “heavenly sanctuary” for hundreds of years to see if we deserve the “benefits of the atonement” and prove the “watching universe” that God is fair, as if God can be put on trial by finite, sinful beings. We need IMPUTED righteousness to save us rather than IMPARTED righteousness because, even as born again, forgiven Christians we still live in a fallen world and we still struggle sin. Our ONLY hope before a truly holy God, who owes us nothing other than punishment, is to point to Christ alone as the reason for our salvation and say, “I’m with Him.” These aren’t small, semantic differences here at all.
