Never be ashamed at purchasing a shop repair manual , I have worked in a ton of the cone drives back in the late 90's early 2000's. the problem is they are 3 different types of cone drives and I had to go to the service manual to get my specs. I would recommend
The transaxle tool kit and the shop manual for your particular mower. The best advice I can give is to be gentle with it.

Thank you sir, recently purchased a Kodiak ZTR 50”, difficult finding info on these, your explanation on the lift frame and the belt un-tensioner was most helpful.
How do you change the deck belt on this years mower? I cannot find anything online that helps.
Lift seat, remove spring (it's extremely heavy). Then get under and remove belt.
You'll notice that the PTO clutch prevents you from removing the belt. Just take off the small metal bracket that holds the PTO in place. Also unclip the electrical cable.
Again the spring is very heavy so be careful.

Brother you are an absolute lifesaver! I have been cussing and screaming changing belts on this unit. Could not for the life of me figure out how to get that belt stretched over that pulley. You truly are a giant among ants! Thank you for this video

what size is this belt for a Dixon ZTR RAM 50? today the "professional" told me I needed a 5/8 in by 100 which was way too big. he didnt know what it was called and there are multiple names for it. The belt you are chaning in this video is the one I need

I appreciate the video, I have been struggling for days trying to figure out how to get enough slack to get the deck drive belt back onto my 5501 after changing the drive belt. I had no idea about the pin that goes in the bar but I found it and got my belt back on.

Under the seat there's a plastic container that holds the fluid, shared between both wheels.
I'm having a hard time putting back mine, it got loose. Do you have the diagram by any chance?

I have an old late 1990s Dixon ZTR that I have determined to be like a 4516 etc. I am trying to get the belt back on around the electric clutch at the back. No matter what I do I can't get enough slack. Do I need to remove that front rod on mine so deck will come back some? Thanks!

Hey Medic. I have a 2006 Dixon Kodiak 50 ztr. When I try to put it in any of the lower 4 notches for the deck, it doesn't seem to mow very well. I have to be in the 5th notch to get results. My belts are newer, so I don't think that's an issue, I could be wrong. I thought maybe that bar in the front you were showing, but it's in place, folded back. Any thoughts? I also have a question on starting issues once you "fix" this ;) Thanks.
Hi I have an old Dixon 3302 that I'm trying to fix up. Looks like this video will help me replace the deck belt, thanks! Is there anything different that you know of? Also I need to adjust or maybe replace some parts on the cone drive setup do you have any experience with those? Any help will be much appreciated, it's such a great mower, I'd hate to have to get rid of it just because nobody knows how to fix it!

Thanks for guidance but I'm trying to replace the same engine to mower belt on a mid-2000 Dixon SpeedZTR 42. There doesn't seem to be the same tension release when lowering the deck on mine as on this RAM50 ZTR. No latter with the deck lowered or raised (completely either way) that I can't feed the belt onto the engine pulley. I even tried calling your shop and was on hold for several minutes looking for some guidance. I actually had this mower in your shop quite a while back for some repair. I'm just trying to replace a bad/stretched belt and can't get enough slack to get it on. Thanks for any advice.

How do I check the wheel pump oil level? On a Dixon ram 50 If there is such a thing on this mower. I believe someone I had to work on my mower deliberately did some things to it to tear it up. They delivered it home while I was gone. I checked the fluids and all the oil was drained from the motor and the gas was empty. I replaced that and I made a few rounds and now it won't move. It never made a noise but came to a complete hault.

Thanks for the video. We are trying to replace the belt on a Dixon Ram ZTR 48 and it seems different. The manual doesn't say what size belt to buy. We bought a Bad Boy 48" at the store but it doesn't seem right. Do you have any experience with this model and how to change the belt? Thanks!
Need a video showing the replacement of the side to side belt. Not the mule belt. Same mower.
help.. replaced the belt to the emergency brake now mower will only move if brake is engaged....what did I do wrong?
We have a ztr 311 mower. My husband drove it over a lip on the concrete to go over to the neighbors to mow and it kind of hit harder than expected. Ever since then it keeps throwing the belt. Just bought the mower used and haven't really owned it long enough to be familiar with it. Don't know what it could be, but as soon as you begin to mow the belt comes right off. Any advice on what we should check?

I have a Dixon SpeedZTR 42. I do plan on keeping it for a while. In the event that the single engine goes, is there a twin engine replacement that would work.
I have a Dixon 44 inch commercial mower it seems like my motor belt is not tight enough do the Springs wear out overtime it's a 2006 with like 450 hours on it
Thanks for making this video man I haven't had to do it yet but I just brought one of these Dixon mowers about 3 days ago I'm sure I'll be doing it eventually but mine's been took real good care of and the belt was in really good shape on it and pulleys and deck and everything really I hope I don't have to do that for a year or two anyway

How do you replace the belt that runs the transmissions on the mower? Mine has a Briggs 25 hp on it
1 remove idler pulley Spring
2 swing idler pulley out of the way
3 remove old belt and inspect pulleys for wear
4 install new belt, idler and spring.
5 test run machine
The belt is above the belt driving the blades, it’s the one that drives the transmission and I’m not sure what to remove to take it off

I'd like to know how it goes in the front pulleys. I can't figure out how it goes also my spring is loose and don't know where to put it.
Wrong belt if springs are loose
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 it was working well. What I mean is that some how it got loose when I unloaded it from the trailer and don't know where it goes, spring and belt.
That's why I'm looking for the diagram.

69 inch so you need "A section 68" (numbering is weird for all belts)

I'm using a 5/8 x 100 and my Tensioner is almost maxed out.
Refer to parts manual for proper belt number. Stay away from fractional belts

The springs keep the tension. If it’s loose then most likely needs a belt
