I'm currently running EotG and I love how it takes you all over Midgard. I love the lore! 1. Empire of the Ghouls 2. Midgard World Book 3. Book of Ebon Tides 4. Tome of Heroes 5. Zobeck: Clockwork City
O think midgard is cool,i have'nt read it all,but i have to say,the beggining of the book is confusing, they mix lore, mechanics, locations, characters, all on the same section, for me at least it was dificult to estabilish an order
I really like the Scarlet Citadel. I highly recommend the Map Pack accessory for that book as well. I am a Pathfinder 2e GM and converting it from D&D to P2e is not a big deal so don't let the fact that it is a 5e book deter you from picking it up. Midgard is the Best Campaign setting I have ever read. World Book and Map is excellent. Forgotten Realms isn't bad just based on its maturity at this point. If you want to try a new setting, Midgard won't disappoint. As far as other supplements go though, I really wish Kobold Press branched out into P2e, their books and writing are excellent. Something like Tome of Heroes is not worth picking up if you play anything other than 5e as conversion really defeats the purpose of the book for example.
Southlands worldbook is really monumental how it takes on fantasy africa, jumping in that pool with both feet. its not just a subset of fantasy europe, like many other fantasy novels and games, it is its own highly unique setting. The way Midgard works compared to other fantasy worlds makes this possible. Where all of Faerun is basically one large typical low fantasy setting, southlands is almost another planet. And it seems like content creators are too afraid of touching fantasy Africa as they don't want to be labeled cultural appropriation. Instead of being afraid though KP just decided to dive deep and whole heartedly accept the job on behalf of us gamers who enjoy a new look on humanity's lore.
The only books you need from wotc are the core rulebooks (but for the de fact rules only PhB is necessary, the others are optional),and maybe tasha or xanathar, but only if you want the stuff in there, the third party adventures and settings are sooo much better, and it has themed for everyone
Great Video. Need a solid source for KP material. Question: What was the name of the ________ Raiders you mentioned or where to find them. I wanted to look at it myself. TY!
I got to say that my party is digging EotG! I do have to homebrew/tone down some of the ronchy type stuff in it but all in all it's a great campaign! 1. Worldbook 2. Tome of Heroes 3. EotG 4. Deep Magic 5. Heros Handbook
The only one of these that I have no experience with is the Scarlet Citadel (not being the biggest fan of megadungeons). The rest certainly deserve a spot, though it is hard to sleep on books like Tales from the Shadows, Empire of the Ghouls, and Tales of the Old Margreve. I get it, though! There can be only five (read: six)...
My Kobold 5 1. Old Margrave - I can't believe you replaced Margrave with Scarlet Citadel! 2. Southlands - the most unique world book I own. As good at cultural stuff as Radiant Citadel! 3. Midgard Worldbook - by the way - they have a sale right now to get rid of some books because they are changing the location of their dang Warehouse, (I believe sale ends 29APR2023) and they don't have THIS - the most important book - on the list for sale and I think that is a very bad choice. I'm pissed because I want it and I don't own it and I wanted it on sale knowing full well that after Valiant comes out, they will be transitioning worlds. 4. Cities and Towns - if you are a DM. They have a lot of DM advice books but this one is formatted like a Tables book with art and stuff. It's even well rounded with some player optiosn for Urban Rangers and such. 5. Are we going to get EASTLANDS book? I want to have some Naruto style adventures against the Ninja Wu-Jen So yeah, my 5th book is the book they haven't made yet.
Tome of heroes is so fucking cool!!! Cantrip adept is the best wizard subclass i have ever played. The new way of cast magic is awesome, not new spells, new fucking ways of cast magic!!! Plus there are a lot of suggestions about downtime etc ... With that book you could really play a campaign being a farmer!!! The best book i ever bought! Midgard is really cool, you godda love Magdar, but i think it's too much... It's too big of a setting for my taste :)
Too big doesn't mean bad, you can just use a region. In Midgard you find every setting possible, from classic fantasy to ravenloft, to dragonlance to the icewind Dale equivalent. But yeah, it's a lot...

1. Empire of the Ghouls
2. Midgard World Book
3. Book of Ebon Tides
4. Tome of Heroes
5. Zobeck: Clockwork City
Here's my top five which isn't a top five at all. Five just sounds better, even if it's a list were I make four points using six books.

The map folio for Scarlet Citadel is one of the best values in TTRPGs atm

Looking for that Eastlands book - maybe never going to happen.
It probably isn’t
"cultural appropriation."
What a crock.

Soon all I need is Tales of the Valiant core books
All of these books are just fantastic.
I would add Empire of the Ghouls to your list. I like it even more than Scarlet Citadel.

Mr.T has Northlands been considered yet or on the table for Midgard by Kobold Press?
Haven't heard about it yet. Thanks for the superchat btw

Yeah that's why I mention a ton of other books while talking about the five 'winners'
My Kobold 5

It might be because I played so much Margreve that is just ended having to move

For the algorithm
Typing that word into a comment actually hurts it 😅
Concept
#Whatif #dungeonsanddragons, #paizo, #KoboldPress & #warhammer create their own version of #MonsterHunter
