Mr T, thank you so much for delivering this content. As an old school D&D player from the early 80's, modules and campaign settings were constantly evolving and developing. A campaign setting was not just a chapter in the front of a book, but was a compilation of numerous books and resources that you could pick and choose from. After a 25 year hiatus, I quickly fell in love with the 5e system, but was often disappointed by the skimpy content produced. I missed the days of dungeon magazine and the books of lore I could use to add a level of realism to my game. Already owning the creatures codex and tome of beasts (I and II), I wandered onto your channel and immediately saw how Midgard and other campaigns were not only rich in content, but also willing to try new things besides just offering feats and races (which are also included). I am just an infant in this process, but I am already selling the idea of delving into this world to my players, who know how passionate I am about tying the story into the history of the region and players backstory. Yes, it takes more time, but when you watch a story unfold and all those connections interplay with each other, the player experiences is enhanced exponentially. For that, Kobold Press has delivered us a gift that truly enhances the game and not just adding options. Thank you!
I liked the video but I wish you spent a little more time with ep1 to give a broader overview of Midgard. More details around Zobeck and area could have been an ep2.
Seems like an awesome campaign setting! I have only played in FR so far.. Have watched your previous videos too, containg Midgard content. I have to try now… (well do or do not - there is mo try). The part with the raiding dwarf clan is wild!
I love the dwarf slave Idea; of them capturing people for a set period of time. I could see a clan of Duergar doing this, sneaking up from the dark of the mountain and take people away.
As I understand it, the clan that does this are not Duergar, they are a band of dwarves who want to tell the world 'don't wage war with us'. But in other settings you could certainly take the idea and turn it into Duergar.
17:09 The Ironcrags are a region, not a clan of dwarves. There are many clans which live in the Ironcrags, they do occasionally raid each other in the mountains, in the areas to the east, north, and west, (and when they serve as mercenaries to the south in the Seven Cities during the Septime's "War Season"), and captives and war prisoners who can't be ransomed will sometimes be kept as thralls, but it's not a driving element of their culture, but one of their traditions. The dwarves also have airships, and gunpowder, and fight the ghouls to the north, act as mercenaries with the city-states to the south, etc
At 14:09-- you're looking at the cardinal directions wrong. North is to the right of that map. The River Argent flows from Northwest to Southeast. The road East is the least developed one.
No! The ships do not all need to go through Zobeck. It's the crossroads because so much overland travel goes through that space, from Dornig to the Septimes, or from the Mharoti Empire going West. But the River Argent does not act as a canal between the Northern Sea and the Middle Sea (as mentioned at 8:44) -- it is a smallish city (20K or so), but it has been the core of design for a long time, and so it's well developed.
I didn't mean it littarly or exclusively. More meant that the city has a great location because of an important chanel. These mistakes sneak in when you record a full video 😅
Hello, I have a questions about the Midgard setting in very broad terms. I am not looking for specifics, just generalities about the setting on the whole, or whether the setting is uniform enough to be described with the same generalizations. This will help give me a better understanding of the setting. 1. Genre: What is the genre of this setting? Dark / Horror Fantasy? High Fantasy? Low Fantasy? Sci-fi fantasy? Sword & Sorcery? Punk? Noir? 2. Tone: Dark? Light? Serious? Silly? 3. Themes: Does the setting have a major theme or themes? Good v Evil? Survival? Fate? Family? War? Ambition? 4. Central Conflict(s): like man v nature, man v society, man v nature, man v technology, man v supernatural, man v fate, man v self? 5. Magic: Is this a high magic or low magic setting? If this is a high magic setting, how common is magic? If this is a low magic setting, how rare is magic? Is magic prestigious or feared? 6. Religion: What is/are the major religions in this setting? Is religion significant or insignificant? If so, how in/significant? 7. Science: How significant is science? Common or rare? Are scientists valued, shunned, or worse? 8. Sub-genres: Mystery? Intrigue? Comedy? Action Adventure?

More Rough Guides to Midgard, please!
Coming
I’d love to see a lore breakdown, region by region…would be awesome! Complete with plots, ideas to run, internal/external politics etc.
I will do a video naming all the regions and some of their aspects and adventures, after that I will do a video per region, going deeper in to them.

Oh wow! Thanks so much for this comment. There are way more videos to come on the matter
This video was worth it just to get the URL for that map. Such a cool resource for people to use online.
Amazing tool
I'm looking forward watching all these videos. There are very few videos on YT about Midgard. At last somebody talks about it in detail. Thank you!
I'm looking forward to create them! Thanks for your comment
Currently reading the Scarlet Citadel in pdf as preparations to GM. May have to get the hardcover copy, seeing it look so pretty on your shelf.
It’s a cool cover for sure
I liked the video but I wish you spent a little more time with ep1 to give a broader overview of Midgard.

Yes thank you for this! This is exactly the video I was looking for.
Oh wow! Thanks for this comment
Excited to learn more about Midgard :) I'm currently trying to learn more about the Elven society in Midgard, it seems super interesting
Gotcha, I might use this as a subject soon. Thanks
Just got my copy of the Midgard Worldbook, super excited to put it to use, hopefully soon. Thanks for all the great Zobeck info! 😀👍
Awesome!
Love this format for Midgard; It's much easier to look at stuff on the actual screen as opposed to looking through someone flipping pages in a book..
Agreed
I have become hooked on Kobold Press.

Yoda was wrong! There is NOTHING wrong with trying, failing and than trying again or quiting. As longs as you have fun
New here, starting in a party in Midgard soon. Here's to you, cheers.
Welcome buddy! Have a fun!
Midgard is awesome 🤩
Nah, I don't like it.....😁😏
Love the content. Keep it up!
Thanks!

All this information is coming in the next videos. Wanted to keep it light for this one
I like that I lvoe lore and setting even if yu don't play in that setting it always is a rich source of what to sue from published setting
If it was toned down some, I wonder how well it would work for say 1st edition AD&D or B/X D&D?
Ohh Scarlet Citadel would be great for that ;)
Interesting. Where can I get this cool map?
Looking for lore on the forbidden mountains of Beldestan.
Any videos on it?
- Takes notepat, writes down Beldestan;
I was JUST planning that!
Can you add the grand duchy of dornig? That whole area would be awesome.
@@michaelpinkston2602 Looking into it!
