He is the best golf instructor online without doubt. What separates him from all the others is the easy to understand drills. One particular drill he demonstrates is how we throw a ball naturally, using the feet, body and arms. I learned more from one lesson from Danny than numerous lessons from my PGA instructors.
After watching the driver instruction, I gained close to 20yards and hit the ball where I was aiming!

I enjoy your teaching method. It is the swing my Dad taught me 50 years ago. Its natural. I always called it the old fashioned swing that got the greats like snead and Nicholas. Its actually very close to Bobby Jones. Your drills really resonate with me. I stopped playing for 10 years. Now at 55 I started again and your drills have me striking the ball correctly and it feels like I never stopped. Thank you

    Hey Danny,
I’m on my third month in golf and have been struggling the most with the driver. I have probably watched 30+ videos, read many articles, taking personal tips from friends and even my local PGA pro.. No one, I MEAN NO ONE, has explained it as simple as you have, i got out on the range as soon as i saw the video and within 4-5 balls it worked instantly for me, driving 190 meter and dead straight. Thank you for saving my summer, i’ll be a subscriber for life!

Danny, This easiest driver golf tip and your backward and forward rotation golf tip using your legs like a pendulum are your two best golf tips in which you start the golf swing with your lower body. They have stopped me from swaying and not to move my front foot and have resulted in lowering my handicap significantly. You are the best instructor I have found. I always look forward to your new tips. Stay safe and healthy.

Woah, I don’t think you understand how much you’ve just changed my game. As soon as I started doing this exercise I suddenly understood exactly how wrong I’ve been swinging my driver. 🤯, I look like I’m crazy at the range , but I’ve been doing this before I practice my drives every time. What a difference. All I can say is thank you.

This lesson reminds me of my own self discovery on the driving range one day that literally changed my swing forever. I had been struggling with distance. All my friends were blasting it past me. I was lucky to hit a 200 yard drive. On the range I was determined to hit one at least 250 and the harder I tried it seemed like the shorter I got. So I stopped teeing up balls and gazed out at the range in contemplation. And then it hit me. I was there to experiment and try anything so I had an idea. I sat my driver down and shook the tension out of my arms. I told myself to relax. And old lesson I read somewhere popped in my head. Loose relaxed arms swing faster than flexed tense arms. I picked up the driver and first thing was changing my grip pressure. I told myself the relaxation of the arms had to begin in the grip. So I gripped the club just tight enough to keep it under control. No more death grip. Then I tried to make my arms feel like wet noodles. I tried a few practice swings with these new relaxed arms and grip. I could feel the club hinging all by itself. I could feel my torso slinging my arms and then the club slinging. I felt speed. The faster I turned, the faster the sling. I thought no way could it be this easy. I tee'd one up and gave it a go. 245 yards easy. My longest drive ever just happened. I was afraid it was a fluke so tried again. 250 yards. I was elated. This relaxed arm technique added the yards I was missing and it worked with every club. I will never forget that day.

This is the single greatest golf video ever made. If I could have seen this video 35 years ago when I started, I would have had far more success over the years.
Your "walking" technique for the lower body is so simple and effective. One of my past instructors, a former LPGA player, would instruct me to load the back leg on the backswing and then make an "athletic move" forward on the downswing. She couldn't describe the athletic move in words. I could never do the hip slide; I was frustrated by the athletic move because she couldn't tell me what it was. Think of the nonsense of stepping on pressure plates hooked to a computer to see weight distribution when all a player needs to do is "walk" the lower body through the swing.
This video's great benefit to me was finally understanding the release. As I watched in my den, I grabbed a 7 iron and slowly swung it as the video shows. I could feel the point where the club would release and drop towards the ground. I have asked instructors what to do with my hands through impact and never gotten an answer. I've been taught to draw the club to here; turn the wrist like so; point the club grip; but never what to do at impact. Turns out all I had to do was let the the club fall to earth. Until two days ago, I kept a firm grip on the club, set a lag in my wrists, and directed the club down to the ball. To hit the ball further, I tried turning faster. My iron play sucked.
Thursday evening I watched the video. Friday evening I hit a bucket at my league club and walked nine. Couldn't believe how lightly I could grip the club, just firm enough to keep the club from flying out of my hands. Mid round, I couldn't believe how relaxed I was at set up and through the swing. No tension in my hands or arms. Even when I was off target with the irons, I was getting yards and landing near the greens. After a first hole duck hook, I hit all remaining fairways with the driver. I could feel the driver head release on the downswing and the pop when it hit the ball. Fairways hit; greens in regulation. How fun is that? Duplicated this playing 9 holes Saturday evening. Got some work to do with the fairway woods, which are brushing the ground just behind the ball and losing power. But I've got a clear understanding of the swing, and finally, a swing for the rest of my golf life. 35 years of garbage golf. Maybe I can get a dozen years of better play.
    You're the best, Danny.

    D. Maude,
Many thanks for explaining to an older duffer how to get that”pop” from my golf swing. Your “catapult” description summed it beautifully. I’ve been asking around to try and correlate a tip from racket ball playing years ago, to hold the racket loosely and snap it through the ball to treble the power of my hit. You’ve nailed the parallel. Learning from your videos has made retirement much more fruitful. I look forward to every weekend,to prepare for my Monday morning toddle around my local course...thank you.

This has to be the greatest explanation I have ever seen regarding how to use your feet to form the base or foundation of the driver swing while keeping your hands and arms relaxed to sling the club through impact. I can’t wait to try this on the range tomorrow. I know I can get there because I finally understand how to do it for my swing.

Hello Danny. This video, and the other one related to it helped me immensely at the range today. I haven't been active in the last few months, and didnt even try to do this at home. Went to the range and did the heel toe thing for a bit (as everyone watched me like I was crazy) and then started swinging with my irons. Took me a few balls to start making solid hits, but when I did I added from 5-20 yds depending on the club. And with this motion and with a nice follow through, (I'm 50yrs old, and have a physical job) I hit about 100 balls back pain free. Thank you so much sir, and keep the videos coming...

Wow, I've got to run out to my golf mat and net and practice that tonight before I play golf tomorrow. That is what I've been looking for. The for action just makes so much sense. Just like your Dad, I am an older golfer ( 81), and have lost a lot of distance. Physically, I am as strong and flexible as many of my fellow golfers even younger than me, but they hit the ball farther than I do, and I just know it's because I am an upper torso and arms swinger. Love your tips Danny, and keep them coming. Also love to hear about your Dad.

As a scratch golfer who doesn't get to play like I used to (30 y.o. with 3 kids now), I've recently lost distance. I've always been a longer player, so this has been a new challenge for me. I've found myself struggling to carry the ball 270 (swing speed still around 115) and I've lost a lot of distance in my long irons. After watching this, I think you've just helped me find the main issue in my swing. I have noticed I am much more tense and due to not practicing the way I used to, I find myself "steering" or "guiding" longer shots. Thanks for explaining this in such a simple way and the fact that it can be done indoors makes it that much better! Cheers!

The reason why your advice is so successful? You think from the perspective of the struggling golfer. You place yourself into their shoes. Like any instructor, you deconstruct the swing and pinpoint where the mistakes are made. But, then you get creative and think of a body trigger that will help them "feel" the right movement. You stepped into the body of an "arm swinger" and came up with the toe-up-heal-down exaggeration with loose arms. Brilliant! The usual tips...setting up tees, or sticks, or a towel under your armpit, or making the "whoosh" after the ball don't allow the student to internalize the "feeling" of the swing. This lesson does, and this is why it will actually work.
I'd like to add something to your excellent lesson. You already know this, but I'm sure you didn't want to complicate the main point of the exercise with extra details. But this was key for me when I was getting away from arm swinging.
When arm swingers start to let go, and allow their body to swing the club, they are definitely going to feel out of control. They may not even get near the ball, because they are used to applying hand and wrist muscles to correct their incorrect swing path down to the ball. Without those muscles chiming in, there's nothing to correct the club-head path. They may give-up, thinking, "There's no way I'm changing my swing for this unstable and unpredictable result!"
But, here's the key that helped me. The degree of hip-bend will bring the swing path exactly where it needs to be, with no manipulation needed. If the student is used to setting-up with a lot of bend, the non-manipulated swing path will ground the club-head. He'll need to get used to less bend at address. The opposite for a golfer with a stance too upright. Non-manipulated, the path will tend to be over the ball.
So, my advice (humbly) is to "feel" the path the centrifugal force is taking the club, without any manipulation, and adjust your balance and forward bend so it meets with the tee. You will also have to adjust your grip so the club-face is square....because without manipulation, your club-face will no longer be square.
When you find this correct plane, and set your balance, lean, and grip to automatically get there without doing ANYTHING but turning, that's when your brain will automatically let go of the need for manipulation. Your brain can't be fooled. If you're not set-up right, it will know, and you'll continually fight its desire to fix things on the way down from your back-swing. When you experience the freedom of No Manipulation, you'll find you have confidence and power every time you step up to the tee.
Danny- sorry this is so long! You gave a great lesson and I hope you don't mind. Great respect & admiration to you!

There was one nugget in here that really caught on for me, which was the "stomp your lead foot" or use it to pull yourself through your swing. I've never heard anyone put it that way before. You always hear people say you need transfer your weight to your front foot, but the actual act of using your front leg to pull your swing through is mind blowing to me. Thanks for the video!

Hi Danny! I am a fan of your golf teaching, and I have watched many of your videos. This lesson just clicked for me. I've been playing golf many years, and I've always had problems with consistent ball striking during a round of golf. After watching this video, I immediately knew why I got into trouble when I start swinging the club too independently with my arms, and not with my feet. It didn't take me too long to make the adjustment, and it is just astonishing how more consistent and straight I'm hitting the ball now, and effortlessly too! Great lesson, and should be taught to every beginning golfer!! Thanks!

Really tried to use this thought on the course today and struck the ball so well with so little effort. I just focussed on turning back and through. No thinking about the club at all. Honestly Danny, Thanks alot. Watched this video last night after seeing it on the homepage, I've always felt my swing although reasonable was stiff and not fluent and flowing like the local pro's swings.....I already had a simililar movement bottom half of my body, so i hit the range a few hours after watching, doing what you said, lossening up my arms and letting it flow better not only seemed to fix my push fade, but also a slight pull fade on good shots. My distances were spot on and i wasnt hitting behind the ball like i've been struggling with since the Xmas break. Something so simple, doing that little routine and I honestly thinks its changed my swing and game forever, Got a lesson tomorrow which i booked to help fix me.....can't wait to go into it with a different outlook to improve it further instead of fixing.

Thank you Danny this is the best video or golf lesson I ever had. You need to take this video and frame it.
This video is the shit. Doing this simple step forward and back thang taught me how to do a golf swing right for the first time. No longer do I have to shift my way my way automatically shifts shifts. I go to the back foot and then into the front foot and gives you power and straightness. The only thing I have to be careful of is not rushing the downswing. Thus now the timing is working. And the legs are driving the swing an effortless swing giving me 20 yards Bottom line I’m hitting greens half the time on approach shots, more yards and straight straight straight.

Perfect as always. I find that most people that struggle with consistency try to guide the swing using their hands and wrists. The wrist is nothing more then a hinge that folds and unfolds naturally by smooth, controlled swing. Danny simplifies this process in incremental steps.

Your lessons gave me answers to my uncleared questions regarding golf swing. After I watched your lesson, I could not help trying your drills and swings at driving range. Then I finally started to hit balls as I wanted...damn straight ones with power. I still need more practice especially the distance between my body and ball considering the balance of my weight... Anyway your golf lesson changed my golf swing totally different in a reasonably way... Thank you so much for your superb lessons!!! Hey Danny
Love this video. Especially as you show the soft arms/legs walking analogy: brilliant! It’s interesting that we are moving back to an older-fashioned leg action now that we understand pressure traces. We're seeing people like Molinari, Bubba etc lifting the left heel and Matt Wolff with George Gankas is a game changer.
I did exactly as you did in the video with my son over Christmas i.e: right heel/left toe to left heel/right toe and he was hitting it miles if hooking it rather badly, we can sort that once he's got the impact and distance. I think the principle of the X factor, left heel planted swing has not served amateur golfers as we don’t release the clubhead anywhere near fast enough. That method is fine if you swing the driver at 115mph and a 7 iron at 98mph.
I wasted years trying to do the Leadbetter torque-based body release swing. My natural swing is way more Nicklaus/Couples style as despite being 5ft 6, I’ve got long arms. Having gone back to doing a one-piece takeaway, late wrist cock, lift the left heel, high arc swing upright swing plane I’ve started hitting it as well as I did back in 1996 when I got down to single figures.
Whereabouts in Leeds does your dad play?
I had my first ever lesson from Jon Foss at Sand Moor way back in 1989, then graduated to Dennis Sheehy both there and at Wike Ridge and Garforth before he went to the States. Some amazing courses in Yorkshire, 3 Ryder cup venues says a lot. My current club in Croydon is in a similar sand belt to north Leeds.

Things that you allude to in the video include the importance of developing and maintaining rhythm in the golf swing. Those of us with higher indexes struggle with keeping in rhythm for an entire round. This drill greatly helped that for me. I do it periodically at home without a club and yesterday I took it to the course while waiting on my partners with gratifying results: 10/13 fairways hit and one of my misses was in the first cut and another one found the fairway bunker guarding a dogleg because I hit it farther than my usual! It tamed my usual problems with transition. My playing partners did look at me a bit funny, but couldn’t ridicule the results, especially when it came time to pay up! Now they want strokes!

Danny, what a brilliant drill! This reminds me of what Jack Nicklas said and did, where he said the swing is contolled from the ground up. And nobody ever stomped as well as Jack! Bob Mann back in the 80's had a similar concept, he called it golf's 'Motor Move' which is the active use of the feet to drive the engine of the swing. Thank you so much for this lesson. Now I feel like I can let centrifugal force really work in my swing. I turned a club around holding near the head to hear where the whoosh was. And the more agressively I stomped, the louder the whoosh sound became!
This really is a game changer!

I'm just watching this video for the first time and haven't yet had a chance to try it out yet, but I already love this video. The problems I have with my driver are exactly related to what you describe in this (too much torso, not enough feet and legs). I can already tell that the mental image this video creates will be extremely helpful. I think it would be even more helpful if you could follow this video up with a video on how to transition from this swing thought to an iron swing thought. I feel like when I get my driver working good, my irons struggle because I'm lifting my body up too much and topping the ball and vice versa, when my irons are going good, my driver struggles because I'm using too much torso and not as much feet and legs. I like these golf videos that are more about creating mental images than creating drills (honestly, I'm rarely going to stand in my family room and practice golf swings). This is the kind of video that creates mental drills I can go through when I'm sitting/standing around thinking about golf.

Your comment at 13:00, 13:00 "Feels totally out of control. Feels like the ball is going to go anywhere." is so bang on accurate! The first few times you really do this, and really let go, it feels like you have lost ALL control of the club :) I now suspect that the illusion of control was just a failure to let the clubhead release.

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  4 года назад

So true, we all find ourselves seeking control of the golf club but we must all get used to letting go

@@DanielMaude I also love the feel (and results) of combining this with your idea of just using the hands to 'add structure' to impact. Allowing the upper arms and shoulders to flow freely, being driven by the legs, but simultaneously controlling the hand/wrist position, in order to deliver the clubhead in a powerful structured position is brilliant. I feel that conceptually, it turns our typical picture of the swing upside-down (most of us start by swinging our arms deliberately, with flying hands/wrists) . Your two ideas together (free flowing arms driven by ground forces from legs; hands providing structure) really, really work. Thank you!
