Yes, Danny is one of the best, super eloquent and constructive golf instructor I have come across! The "Stop Rushing the Downswing" seems like designed for me and my issues... and am sure like for most amateur players. Many thanks friend!
Adding to mick´s comment I would like to say how much I value how down to earth you are. This has to be the most powerful golf video I have ever seen and I have seen hundreds!!!!! Thank you SO very much Danny.
This man is an Incredible teacher of golf. Your videos have completely transformed my swing and accuracy. I’m hitting the ball 40 yards farther and my swing has fully developed from an undeveloped pendulum style swing. Thank you for your excellent tips and coaching. You have made this game VERY enjoyable for me!
Dear Mr Maude... i know this is a bit dated but better late than never, i count 101 today and it works. My 1st nine gross today was 37 using your 101 as tempo. 2nd 9 did not do as well as 1st 9, grossing 85 over 18 holes. i will continue to watch your vids... thanks a million.
Hello Danny, I am 68 and returning to golf after 40 years. I have just played nine holes and used your tempo tip “ one hundred and one “. Best practise I have had so far, much more relaxed swing and better accuracy. Regards Ivan ( from New Zealand ) .
This one is classic. Save this lesson because it will be your best friend ever. I don’t know where Mr. Danny gets these great concepts but he is sure is leading the way. I think Mr Hogan is looking down and smiling! Thanks Mr. Danny!
More good advice. I have only been following your videos for a few weeks, but I have seen a marked improvement in my game. I am now flirting with breaking 90 (92, 90, 91) regularly. This lesson is especially interesting to me since, at 65, I have definitely lost distance and have struggled with trying to get it back without wrecking the rhythm of my swing. Still have much to work on, but now I feel somewhat competent on a golf course. Thanks once again!
Just a follow up. I carded an honest 83 (!) a few days ago. Added 20 yards to my drives AND kept them in the short grass. To be fair, it was a course I have played often so I had a good of idea of how to manage the course and where I wanted to miss, but there is no question that my ball striking is dramatically better. Unfortunately, golf courses are closing here in South Florida (as they should), but it is a great way to go into a forced layoff!
I’m very thankful for finding such great video lessons that provide summaries ......this drill is certainly something I will work on ... much appreciated it Danny.
After watching this great video and took the 101 drill to my golf league match. My opponent probably thought I was crazy saying 101 during my swing but I started hitting the ball more consistently and made more GIR than I had in quite a while. This really works Danny and definitely helped me slow down and lengthen my backswing. Thanks so much.
Danny...spot on lesson in distance improvement. Especially getting the legs involved in the downswing first! The arms will naturally follow with a effortless whip..well done.
Just recently started watching your channel. I struggle bigtime with my woods. I watched others and they target everything apart from actually hitting the ball. U keep it so simple and it has helped me alot so thank you.
This one hundred and one thing really helped me today. I shot my best round in two years and I'm convinced it was because of improved rhythm and tempo in my swing. I silently said "one hundred and one" to myself when I hit my irons. After weeks of thinning it, I was so much more solid in my contact. Thinning was down to snapping the club at the ball I believe, so this helped immensely. 6 pars in 9 holes. Only thinking "one hundred and one" also helped remove a lot of swing thoughts, and that's also a big help as I'm a big overthinker, with a myriad of swing thoughts, which only really leads me to play worse and worse.
This is such a valuable golf technique for us, amateur golfers. Danny illustrates it brilliantly. It has improved both my distance and ball striking immensely. Thank you, Danny!
Hey Danny. i am watching all your video s over and over again ... watching is learning ... i just started playing golf and these video s are very helpfull !! THANKS AND KEEP ON INSPIRING THE WAY YOU DO !!!!!!
Thanks Danny for the very clear instruction you always give. Being 73 years old and losing distance fast, I hope that this video will help me at least a tiny bit. It also is very nice to look at some holes of the very nice Henry Colt designed Canterbury Golfcourse which I had the pleasure of playing a few times (too long ago). Kind regards from Leo Noordhuizen - The Netherlands
One of my three swing thoughts is, "look at both shoulders." Helps me with both tempo and striking immensely... Also a good idea to strengthen legs... Very good advice, Danny
Absolutely fantastic and crucial tip this one Danny! I used to both rush my downswing and the upswing and I've been working on slowing it down, in fact 101 wasn't enough for me, I actually use 7001, as it introduced a couple more syllables that help to slow me down. I still have a tendency to rush the downswing to get more power and so I'm still working on trying to do a more relaxed downswing, but I'm much improved now. Finding more fairways, and I've knocked 10 off my average score.
Thanks so much for this awesome tip. I did it and it really works! When I get to the top, the feeling I have is total control of the downswing and my quality of contact has dramatically improved with every club.
Thanks for this video Danny! Used it this weekend and was striking my irons better than I ever have. Consistent contact and ball flight and, yes, more distance! Thanks again!!
I have been thinking a lot about the rythm of golf, and as soon as I started to ”slow down”, things started to get beter. You explain this so well - as always! Thanks, Danny 😀
Hi Danny i had the same problem, i was advised the same think but i was told to pause at the top for a second which improved my sequencing. Thanks like your videos
Maaaaate.....I'm an inconsistent 10 hcp senior golfer with a slow swing ,from Oz.....my timing thought is pendulum up pendulum down. Enough about me . That knee thing for me is sensational. My body is turning and the club is dropping and through the ball before my brain gets a chance to take control . My mind stays on that left knee and its allover before I get a chance to think about it . with great results .......Excellent ..........Thank you
Very helpful. This game is made up of so many contradictions as in go more slowly to go faster. Danny Maude explains this stuff as clearly and more enjoyably than anyone. He must be fun to play with.
Hi Danny I've now tried 'Ernie Els' on my backswing and it slowed my backswing and the results are immediate and I now strike the ball further and more regular. Great teaching!! Thanks vm David
Thanks Danny. This video reminded me of the rhyme I leaned in KG to learn the alphabet: a b c d. a b for the backswing, c for the hit and d for finish. I used to use it for a while some years ago, but lost track of it in the meantime. I'll take it back again into my routine and practice as soon as I can get back to the range and course. I like your Videos and am enjoying them since about a week. Thanks.
Thank you Danny fro this video! I am 8HC and experience 1-2 blow up holes a round (nerves) short back swing and fast attack downswing. I watched you video this morning and went straight to driving range,. what a difference it made there,....thank you! Will follow up after my next round. cheers: Martin
I had a big issue with rushing my downswing. I hit my irons thin; pull to the left.; hack my driver from the outside. This video is a game changer. For now I am counting 1-2-3 (backswing); 4 (left knee/weight shift); 5 (downswing). My swing is still a little fast as I am fighting between 4-5 but at least I am no longer going 1-2-downswing! With this change I had 5 good birdie chances the last time out. I only made 2 birdies but that hadn't happened in a long time (15 hcp). IMHO Danny is the best golf instructor on RUclips!
As a somewhat arthritic old bloke, I have to do the best I can with limited movement. I've found your lessons very useful, this one and one about turning the hips with the club as one, particularly so. I can't get the club back as far as you, maybe around half of a full backswing but by keeping control, not rushing and turning back to the target as you say, I may not hit as far as some, but I hit straight and don't feel I'm losing my balance. 👍
Thanks for this Drill.. Along with your Lag drills this is extremely helpful and easy to understand. Your videos and excellent and to the point .. Thank you for sharing your insights!
Excellent video! I have a real problem with my arms getting ahead of hip rotation. I going to apply this right away for irons. I guess I have to say something longer for driver. Thank you Danny!
I had an old friend at the range that helped me immensely. I had a hybrid in my hands, he said hit it as far as you can. I hit it, pretty happy with shot. He said now hit the second shot half as far. Second shot , better trajectory and 25 yards further. It works ! Honestly a simple fix. Hitting under control is the key. Great instruction Danny ! Thank you !
I've been woodshedding quite a bit at the driving range lately and man your tips are a godsend. As important as the take-away is, rushing the downswing pretty much defeats the purpose huh. It really is a common sense thing isn't it?...Although I've been ignoring that concept for far too long, LOL. Once again Danny, a big thanks to ya. You're a great golf teacher!
Danny Maude I’m glad you asked. That little move with the left knee helped me immediately in several ways. First, it made me more aware of the left side of my body to the extent that my arms just reacted to the movement of my knee. No throwing of the arms or rushing the downswing. The first thing I noticed was the absence of pain on my right elbow, something that’s plagued me for years. The second benefit was feeling more in balance at the completion of my swing. This is a major breakthrough in my golf. I’m extremely grateful for your sharing your understanding of how these things are connected to each other. My elbow thanks you too!
You did it again Danny! Any time my game goes "wonky" I can usually find the answer in one of your videos. This one is a great demonstration of getting the lower body to initiate the downswing. Thanks again!!............ BTW, I'm an Eeeeaaaarnie Els guy too!
The tips that I've been looking for. I used to be a 5 handicap now I couldn't even break 80. Will use the drill on the next practice at the range. Thanks Danny.
Good tips. I have had a tremendous hit impulse. I am a feel player and mechanical thoughts don’t work if I can equate them to feel. So a very effective drill and warm up for myself is a swing the bag golf towel. I try to swing it as fast as I can without getting any slack in the towel. That sets my sequencing and tempo.
Danny, you have done more to help my golf game than anyone else in over 30 years. ( I am 79) I am enjoying the rounds that I play much more because of your fine instructions. Thanks a million!
Great video! Slowing down my backswing really help my consistency in striking the golf ball! My playing partner mentioned that my swing looked smoother and not rushed. The consistent strikes led to about a club length more in distance with the irons.
Danny-I have recently subscribed and this is the second video lesson of URs I’ve incorporated into my game! I can clearly feel when I rush the downswing, thus not properly completing backswing-result can be awful. This will take some time as I tried this on course today. When I did it properly, the ball FLEW off clubface, so something to keep working on. I also LOVE UR video on how to use hips properly! Like many, I too was doing this incorrectly. UR videos are very very helpful, even to to seasoned player. THANK YOU. Brian
Great presentation! My issue has historically been rushing the chipping and pitching motions, although I have been working very hard the last three months, working on those exclusively (so of course my irons game is falling off!!). People who see me doing this mistake in chipping describe it as "stabbing" at the ball. Once ingrained, a very tough habit to break.
Your instructional videos are great! They are easy to understand and apply to both practice and the golf course. Thank you Danny for helping me understand the golf swing movements that will improve my game and enjoyment of the game.
I can’t wait to get back to the range! I realized doing this drill, that I have become lazy, and had stopped feeling that coil position at the top. Thanks again.
This is fantastic advice - in particular the part of restraining the left with the right therefore building energy before the snap and catapult effect, makes total sense!
Great video Danny, exactly what I need right now. When I slow my downswing I feel I hit it so much cleaner, but rushing it not so much. The counting/quote idea is a really great one, I’m going to try and use it tomorrow.
Wow, nothing like seeing yourself in that quick takeaway and follow through. That is me all over. My playing partners have told me that I am quick. I do not even complete my back swing and fire away resulting in lack of distance and slices. Thank you for the drills.
Danny Maude, this was a really great tip. I tried it today and shot my record score 76 on a municipal course from whites - but Better yet I beat my father in law who usually beats me. Thank you for what you do - your a great teacher. Boomba!!!
thanks followed you 101 but changed to one hundred and eighty to ensure follow through and had my best score for ages - 15 net pars and 3 net birdies :-)
Hands down the best golf coach on RUclips
Very kind, I know there some great coaches online
I think Danny Maude is the best golf coach online! Love how you simplify all the complexities and mechanics of the golf swing!
Yes, Danny is one of the best, super eloquent and constructive golf instructor I have come across! The "Stop Rushing the Downswing" seems like designed for me and my issues... and am sure like for most amateur players. Many thanks friend!
Adam Grym, that’s very kind Adam
Golf stop slicing right

Liria Echarri, and thank you for taking the time to provide feedback, it makes all the hard work so worth while
I've got about 20 Danny vids that I keep coming back to, and 'getting' something new every time. This one is easily in the top 5. Many thanks DM!
Thanks for sharing Timothy, really happy to be on this journey with you

You are very welcome, the video may be a little old but I ask many of my students to this day to use the 101
Danny, this hit the mark of something I do. Looking forward to utilizing on next trip to range. Thanks!
All the best David
Hello Danny,
I am 68 and returning to golf after 40 years. I have just played nine holes and used your tempo tip “ one hundred and one “. Best practise I have had so far, much more relaxed swing and better accuracy. Regards Ivan ( from New Zealand ) .
Ivan, thanks for sharing Ivan...great golf courses in New Zealand I’ve heard
Simply the best most articulate instructor. Danny has helped me so much in such a short time viewing his videos. Thanks Danny!!
This one is classic. Save this lesson because it will be your best friend ever. I don’t know where Mr. Danny gets these great concepts but he is sure is leading the way. I think Mr Hogan is looking down and smiling! Thanks Mr. Danny!
Great sensible methodology and no equipment required. Excellent instruction

Danny is the most practical coach! Simple approach, simple drills to improve one step at the time
Thank you, really hope the golf lessons are helping
Danny...spot on lesson in distance improvement. Especially getting the legs involved in the downswing first! The arms will naturally follow with a effortless whip..well done.
Chris Burns, thank you Chris...great to finally have some sun in the videos

Thank you Katarina, happy to help
A most helpful training video that helped me slow down my back swing and encouraged the use of lower body power. Thanks Danny!
Hi Danny i had the same problem, i was advised the same think but i was told to pause at the top for a second which improved my sequencing. Thanks like your videos
Yes, this can be a great a feeling too
Terrific video Danny. Going now to driving range and use your technique.
Slow motion is in my mind
Danny, your advices are superb and so is the way you teach. Thank you very much!
Jan Mulder, thanks so much Jan, I really appreciate you taking the time to give me your feedback 👍
I'm another Eric. This is so simple. As easy as 101. Thanks and it works.

Great lesson Danny. Really sequenced well. Thanks. Dom
13DiBartolomeo, thank you, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to leave a question here
another friendly way to explain how we can enjoy this great sport.. Thank you Danny
You are very welcome
Thanks Danny. This video reminded me of the rhyme I leaned in KG to learn the alphabet: a b c d. a b for the backswing, c for the hit and d for finish. I used to use it for a while some years ago, but lost track of it in the meantime. I'll take it back again into my routine and practice as soon as I can get back to the range and course. I like your Videos and am enjoying them since about a week. Thanks.
Really great explanation, since i have the about same problem. I have to go and try this, many thanks Danny
My pleasure Tommy
What a difference this has made to me, thanks Danny
Thank you Danny fro this video! I am 8HC and experience 1-2 blow up holes a round (nerves) short back swing and fast attack downswing. I watched you video this morning and went straight to driving range,. what a difference it made there,....thank you! Will follow up after my next round. cheers: Martin
Love to hear how it goes Martin
I had a big issue with rushing my downswing. I hit my irons thin; pull to the left.; hack my driver from the outside. This video is a game changer. For now I am counting 1-2-3 (backswing); 4 (left knee/weight shift); 5 (downswing). My swing is still a little fast as I am fighting between 4-5 but at least I am no longer going 1-2-downswing! Tried this last night and hit every drive. This really works. Thank you!!!!
David S, that’s awesome David
As a somewhat arthritic old bloke, I have to do the best I can with limited movement. I've found your lessons very useful, this one and one about turning the hips with the club as one, particularly so. Thats just brilliant Christopher, you keep doing what you are doing 👍
I had been using 1 and 2 for a takeaway...I love your "100 and 1"...Gives you a tad bit more time to get through...
Tony Shans 1 and 2 works great for shorter shots 👍
I remember someone telling me to say Severino Ballesteros, 😀
Jillian Sharp, I remember that one, ahh brings back good memories
Thanks for this Drill.. Along with your Lag drills this is extremely helpful and easy to understand. Your videos and excellent and to the point .. Thank you for sharing your insights!
Sieg Lopez that’s great, any questions just ask
So cool to get these tips for free, have already seen improvements on my game just with a couple simple tips. Hats off to you sir!
Thats great Jackson, the beauty of youtube
Excellent video! I have a real problem with my arms getting ahead of hip rotation. I going to apply this right away for irons. I guess I have to say something longer for driver. Thank you Danny!
I had an old friend at the range that helped me immensely. I had a hybrid in my hands, he said hit it as far as you can. I hit it, pretty happy with shot. He said now hit the second shot half as far. Second shot , better trajectory and 25 yards further. It works ! Honestly a simple fix. Hitting under control is the key. Great instruction Danny ! Thank you !
Thank you, so pleased it helps
All my friends are amazed at my distance, even though I do not swing hard at all
Great lesson and lots to try out tomorrow at the driving range, thanks Danny.
Stuart Hartley, perfect let me know how you get on
Thanks Danny! You make sense every time you show up! Every word sounds like poetry! You are the best
staffan. eriksson, thanks for sharing Staffan
Another brilliant well explained video Danny. I wish Canterbury was near Okehampton.
You're a great golf teacher!
funkster007 great to hear the content is helping, keep me updated on your progress and thanks for your kind words
Danny this exercise was what the Dr. ordered I hit 15 fairways last round...Can’t thank you enough!!
Frank
Frank Puleo, that’s great to hear Frank, thanks for sharing
Interesting, as most courses have four par 3’s. Leaving only 14 fairways to hit.
Sean M typo Sean....lol
Very helpful ideas for dealing with a maddening problem. Many thanks!
Thats great Timothy, let me know how the practice goes
Danny Maude
I’m glad you asked. That little move with the left knee helped me immediately in several ways. Timothy Daniels, brilliant, thanks for sharing
You did it again Danny! Any time my game goes "wonky" I can usually find the answer in one of your videos. This one is a great demonstration of getting the lower body to initiate the downswing. Thanks again!!............ BTW, I'm an Eeeeaaaarnie Els guy too!
Another piece of great advice. Keep it up Danny. Thank you very much.
Philgood, my pleasure Philip
The tips that I've been looking for. I used to be a 5 handicap now I couldn't even break 80. Will use the drill on the next practice at the range. Thanks Danny.
Gimborn Philippines, my pleasure Gimborn
Very simple explanation for the most common problem! Thank you.
Simon Cheung, thank you Simon...if you have any further questions don’t hesitate to drop me a message
Good tips. I have had a tremendous hit impulse. I am a feel player and mechanical thoughts don’t work if I can equate them to feel. Great video as always, no problems practising but tighten up during a game. Counting helps huge
Thats great ed, thanks for sharing
Great teacher. Simple tips. Way to go Danny.(I know: I've been a teacher for over 35 years).
halloween Dolbeau, that means a lot coming from you...thanks for taking the time to feedback
You're very welcome.
Great tips ,drills ..this is my main problem ..rushing the downswing 🙂👏👏👍
You make it sound so simple . . .thanks !!
Danny Lookpoint, nothing is simple but I hope to make it as easy as possible for you 😁
Great presentation! Thomas Kozar, what this space, some training coming on that very soon
Best golf lessons I’ve ever seen. Do you have a video on shifting your weight to the front side. I tend to end my swing on right side?
Rico Petrocelli I’ve got a video coming soon on this
Your instructional videos are great! They are easy to understand and apply to both practice and the golf course. Thank you Danny for helping me understand the golf swing movements that will improve my game and enjoyment of the game.
You are very welcome Diane, thank you for taking the time to comment
Great advice as always, easy to understand. Thanks
Great lesson! And explained well. This is precisely my issue as well. Thanks for this.
Jay Bee, thank you Jay, great hear you enjoyed the training
Great tuition and makes so much sense.
Excellent video I suffer with the same problem quick from the top definitely try this great advice thanks Danny looking forward to the next video
Wayne Owens, that’s great Wayne, let me know how it goes when you’ve had some time to practice
I can’t wait to get back to the range! I realized doing this drill, that I have become lazy, and had stopped feeling that coil position at the top. Thanks again.
This is fantastic advice - in particular the part of restraining the left with the right therefore building energy before the snap and catapult effect, makes total sense!
Craig Moffat great to hear you get the concept Craig, thanks for sharing
Great advice. Both the '101' and knee drill have helped with my timing, improving quality of strike and direction control. Thank you :)
Thanks, Danny, surely help to get the distance
leeprint enterprise hope so, keep me updated
Was always told to say slowly, “nice,, smooth,, swing” sort of the same thing but does work for sure, the trigger for down swing was after “smooth”
Simon Andrews sounds great Simon

Loving your method. I'm a convert. I'm on board. Simple easy to apply steps. 👍
Nick Puccio, great to have you part of he community Nick
Really enjoyed this video Danny! Made me understand more what I Need to do
Brandon Vogel that’s great Brandon, happy to help
Thank you for this incredible technique.
chris ashton, my pleasure Chris
Great video Danny, exactly what I need right now. When I slow my downswing I feel I hit it so much cleaner, but rushing it not so much. The counting/quote idea is a really great one, I’m going to try and use it tomorrow.
Look forward to hearing how you get on on the golf course
One hundred and one!!!!.. this is great Danny!.. have been practicing and it is really helping my timing!.. keep up the good work! Thanks 👍
Spud McC, it really does doesn’t it...it also stops golfers over thinking on the course
Wow, nothing like seeing yourself in that quick takeaway and follow through. That is me all over. My playing partners have told me that I am quick. I do not even complete my back swing and fire away resulting in lack of distance and slices. Thank you for the drills.
My pleasure, keep me updated on your progress
gonna try this drill at the range today. Great video again Danny! thanks
great drills Danny and coached with such simple language !!! Thanks
Warren Doyle, thank you Warren, appreciate the sentiment
Thank you for that I will take more time coming back in my take away
Perfect, look forward to hearing how you get on
Danny Maude, this was a really great tip. I tried it today and shot my record score 76 on a municipal course from whites - but Better yet I beat my father in law who usually beats me. Thank you for what you do - your a great teacher. Boomba!!!
Well done Tom, I bet that was a great feeling
I use the name of my favorite golfer also, Freddie Couples. Also I love your cross hand drill as a stretching drill to warm up.
thanks followed you 101 but changed to one hundred and eighty to ensure follow through and had my best score for ages - 15 net pars and 3 net birdies :-)
Peter Ibbs that’s awesome Peter, congratulations...thanks for sharing
some one, no, 39 points. Net par is worth 2 points.
Cheers mate, all my questions answered perfectly here!!
My pleasure Ronnie, thanks for the comment
Will try this tomorrow, i tried the catapult and it's amazing 👏 🙌 😄

@@DanielMaude is SC300 a good investment?
