- With Halloween in mind, here's a track from a CD & DVD recorded for FEURICH - Vienna & La Pédale Harmonique, Paris. Album title "Virtuoso Piano Music with the Harmonic Pedal". CD includes Liszt's "La Campanella", "Gnomenreigen" + works by Prokofiev etc. DVD video production in association with Thai Television featuring GoPro 3.
For those that kindly expressed interest in purchasing a FEURICH CD or DVD, I'll post details on my facebook music page when they are available: / paulbartonpiano Other harmonic pedal piano CDs in production include Vivaldi "The Four Seasons".
In this video I colour highlighted the score to show which of the harmonic pedal effects is used at any given time. It is general and doesn't show pedal release etc. The graphics in this video are available from the Danse Macabre album on my facebook piano page (link above)
The T. Riiter piano score featured in this video has numerous bars highlighted in red circles which indicate intentional omissions on my part.
Download Ritter's transcription in the Public Domain (free) imslp.org/wiki/Danse_macabre,_...
See the "Arrangements and Transcriptions" tab. This is the first recording of Danse Macabre with the harmonic pedal.
For an easier but still awesome arrangement of Danse Macabre see "H. Cramer" PDF (free download) available from the same link above.
The 4th harmonic pedal only is used in this recording. This allows resonance around staccato notes, additional colours mixed with una corda, a fast action sostenuto and the sustain, when required. Видеоклипы
3:13 - 3:45 HOW SO BUBBLY? Seriously that's amazing. One of my favourite things I've heard ever.
4:33 goodness gracious, that's gotta be the *MOST BEAUTIFUL* run I've ever seen HOLYYY
Honestly, I wasn't amazed by the Harmonic Pedal through all your videos but that passage from 3:12 to 3:37... Being able to play triplets without the sustain pedal and not sounding dry is just amazing !
Awesome performance !
Paul this is one of the most incredible performances I have ever heard.
I don’t think ye played it
This was incredible. If I had only seen the score without hearing you play the piece, I would have thought it was impossible to play it with such precision, at such a speed and with so many subtle dynamics. I'm so glad you're on RUclips!
dude...

Amazing job Paul Barton 👆😀🎧
Lindíssima e difícil bravo.👏👏👏👏
This looks even more brutal than it sounds. You're underrated Paul!
Breathtaking!
Que interpretação maravilhosa!👏👏👏👏👏👏
Peça de grande dificuldade. Execução magnífica. Parabéns.
Incredible performance.
stunning!
The first omissions did add that extra sense of doom, with the space u gave it
OMG just found this! Unbelievable good!
This is an incredible preformance, liked it a lot!
So awesome!
Fantastic! As a child I learned a simple version of this piece and it stayed with me. I'm now getting back to playing (in my 60's) and want to learn this version which would be a challenge. I found a simpler version that I am teaching myself. Love it!
Linda, What is the edition and where did you get your simpler version? I used to teach piano and want to start playing again.
OMG WONDERFUL!
Thanks for this - took the Cramer score along to my piano lesson the other week! My teacher hadn't seen it in years, and I'm having lots of fun bashing through it!
This is a fantastic performance!
Fabulous!
wow, Paul, you recorded so many things. You're a genius!
Songs to me are easy. I have seen many pieces, this one amazed me. I think this would be a challenge. You played beautifully. This piece represents me. Wow
Lovely!
Incredible! No idea ho you managed to play some of that.
EXTRAORDINARIO TRABAJO,...EMOCIONANTE ESCUCHAR EL NIVEL DE EXCELENCIA QUE ALCANZAN CIERTAS PERSONAS, SIN DUDA DESPUÉS DE AÑOS DE ESFUERZO, SACRIFICIO, PASIÓN Y AMOR POR SU OFICIO.
Loved the performance and the scrolling music! Makes me want to give it a try!
Still listening
Amazing😍
This truly is a great piece of music, played amazingly! Again, ThU
Thomas
Amazzzzzzing!!!!!!
Wonderful, following the score, I was lost, but very impressed with its complexity...lol
amazing!
Fantastic! Thanks.
love it ! thank you Paul :-)
와 너무 좋아..
Best arrangement on RUclips
que recuerdo de mi padre tocando esta obra!!
I was working while listening to a YT classical piano mix in the background. I had never heard this piece before, but after a couple minutes of listening I thought "This must be Paul Barton" and switched windows to check.
Yup. He is just as distinctive as the greats a yore.
Brilliant!
bravissimo sehr schön.¨!!!!!!!!
Amazing
Super! thx again
Great! I was looking for a version like this on youtube, more true to Saint Saens composition than the Liszt arrangement, although Lizst's is very beautiful in its own way.
Merveilleux
wow, looking forward to the CD :)
Paul fantastic, very macabre! :-)
You cannot play this without having dedicated your entire life to the piano.
devilsden as someone who’s been playing for almost 15 years now this song is extremely hard, let alone to play it at this level of interpretation
Interesting. After 10 years of no practice on the piano, this was the second piece I played followed by the piano arrangement of “Howl’s Moving Castle Theme.” I don’t think it’s entirely true that you need to dedicate your whole life to the piano.
The liszt version is most hard is very harder
5 years more than enough
@@haaggus fun fact: most of the HRs are easy in technical difficulty
also chopin etudes are mainly about technique...so even the etudes are not insane apart from few like op25 no6 or op10 no4
Very nice performance :)
Grandioso compositore
very well played Paul, been subscribed for quite some time now and I think you have just got better and better - this was excellent but I would love to hear you tackle the Horowitz arrangement of this piece. It's a devilishly difficult piece but when played well, it's absolutely spell-binding!
A real professional
Dude!! This song is my jam
Bridget its not a song, its a piece
Bridget hells yeah is mine too!!
Joehoep Pjeters oh give it a rest haha I've heard major composers refer to their music as songs :) ur not special ❤️
Lovely arrangement, I'd love to see a video of your hands with the chromatic scales and the octave scales!
Un capolavoro
I wish we could see the DVD version with the video !
I Loved to play this on my viola!! Much more elaborate than I am used too lol but same feel lol. Reminds me of "Rake It In" by Imogen Heap. Just love it :D Great job playing as well!
Love itt
Jeez. I have no words.
Heeeey. This arrangement is pretty guuud ;)
omg, i enjoyed this more than i would like to admit.. thank you so much for this. i just adore this piece.. if i may ask, as a liszt admirer, will you do his transcription as well :D pretty please :)
Hey Paul, any chance we might get to see a video of this performance? (please)
Yesssssss
Genius
This seems an insane pedal work...
This is sensational! But does anyone know of any other recordings of this arrangement?
5:49 this part always gives me chills
😍😍😍
Mind boggling. I will never learn to play like this. I'd better ask Elisa on which street she lives!
Hi Paul, what do you mean by the 4th harmonic pedal? Im curious about how to create the resonance
Erik Tjahja Hi Erik - I have 2 harmonic pedal channels, on the English language channel: ruclips.net/user/Harmonicpianopedal the harmonic pedal is fully explained. Thanks for your interest.
Wow
I loved your performance! I found this version much more clearer than lizst's- is there a way to find this in a MIDI file?
Hi Paul. This sounds amazing and thanks for linking the sheet music. I don’t have this pedal though. Is it possible to just play it with the regular sustain pedal?
My only wish was for the triple forte to become bigger. Maybe the recording device wasn’t able to pick that up.
wow. this harmonic pedal is definitely a part of the future of piano playing in my op.
too bad feurich is not that well known. perhaps steinway will see the potential of this pedal and buy the patent?? who knows...
No se de ninguna danza macabra ,muy interesante y muy bien interprtada
Dramatic!
How is the tremolo at around 7:03 still being played when the Gs comes in for both hands? That doesn't seem physically possible.
I don't think it is possible. Maybe he got a friend to play the final notes!
Listening back, I'm actually pretty skeptical this is a human performance. 2:45-3:45 or so sounds very much like how a digital piano would produce some of those passages. Would explain the bug at the end of the piece.
Nothing suspicious ay that place at all. And no Ges in both hands too.
@Charlemagne bottom staff plays D-flat tremolo. This instantly makes statement “Gs in BOTH hands” untrue. And top staff is octave lover. Nothing impossible.
Very suspicious of this tremolo as well. Something is going on here that would require a 3rd hand. Concert pianist here.
