OH MY GOODNESS. Videos just keep getting better and better. Thank you Katherine for all your hard work giving us wonderful Videos. God Bless both of you.
Great to see real life in the Xinjiang region. The Uyghur ethnic group is such a humble and happy people, always singing and dancing without inhibition. You are doing a great job to offset the negative consequences of US China bashing. Unfortunately, we live in a world where politics do impact our everyday lives, even down to the innocent children. Hopefully one day the US will live up to the name the Chinese gave them 美国!
so hard to imagine this still is China, it really is the frontiers! So beautiful, love the music in the background. Are the dances Uyghur dances, or a just of mix of everything (I hear bollywood in the background too!)? My knowledge is limited to Dilireba's performances, but these moves look a bit Circassian too. They're so unique either way, such a treat your vlog always, thanks for sharing!
the guests on the dance floor are mostly doing traditional Uyghur dancing at first, until all the multicultural night club music comes on and the bride/groom get off the couch and join in then it's kind of a little bit of everything 😂
新疆is very close to kazakhstan and Russia. So if someone has a face that is similar to people in Europe and America, it is most likely to be considered as Russian.
I love seeing you explore different regions and cultures of China. It's easy to see China as a giant monolith, but in reality, it has some of the most diverse cultures in the world.
@@ku9305 I hate to talk politics on this channel as it's not the purpose and it's a subject Katherine is actively avoiding, but the west paints Xinjiang as a giant concentration camp and the Uighurs are persecuted. Real life in this region is almost never ever shown on TV. Many people even believe that it's impossible to go there. But let's not kid ourselves, the Uighur internment camps do exist according to most records by NGOs, and they are in areas where you probably aren't allowed to go. Now how big they are, how many people are interned is sort of a mistery as I believe the estimates are based on satellite photos. When the estimates come from the US state department (which is the equivalent of the ministry of foreign affairs in other countries) or the UK government, the figures are about as believable as the denials of the CCP. The truth must be somewhere in the middle.
@@ku9305 According to the U$ regime, Uyghurs are oppressed, persecuted and put in concentration camps by the "evil CCP". Where have you been? Western MSM has been spreading this fake news and anti-China propaganda for ages!

If Xinjiang can maintain peace, reject any undesirable external interference, and avoid unnecessary racial hatred and ethnic conflicts, Xinjiang can be turned into twenty Switzerlands simply by developing tourism. The living standards of the people in Xinjiang will be comparable to or even better than those in Switzerland.
Switzerland is not rich because of tourism, it's because of very relaxed banking rules. Tourism is only a fraction. It only works if you have rich and/or big countries surrounding you and people want to escape taxes there. Similar to the economies of Hong Kong, Luxemburg, Singapore, Virgin Islands, etc. They are basically parasites on large economies with a good tourism budget;)
Wow! I was not expecting to hear Bollywood songs lol (6:12 -6:42). And looks like they knew the lyrics as well 🤯. Loud music and dance, like a Punjabi North Indian wedding👳🏾♂️💃🇮🇳

What a lovely surprise hearing old Bollywood tunes playing at a Uyghur wedding😅. Tibetans love Bollywood music too. I rmember seeing Bollywood movie star posters in Lhasa and hindi music playing in a few shops.

Your comment is inaccurate Hui women (han people mixed with arab and /or iranian blood) wear head scarf. You can see Them all over China.
No Hijab from Arabic influence. Xinjiang has a long tradition before Islam, just like Persia has long history before Islam
