Hiking to Rapidan Camp

On today’s adventure, it’s a solo hike to Rapidan Camp, President Herbert Hoover and First Lady Lou Henry Hoover’s retreat in Shenandoah National Park. I was not allowed to film inside, but it’s as rustic as they come.
On today’s adventure, it’s a solo hike to Rapidan Camp, President Herbert Hoover and First Lady Lou Henry Hoover’s retreat in Shenandoah National Park. I was not allowed to film inside, but it’s as rustic as they come.
The hike wasn’t bad, only two short uphills on the way back that got my blood pumping, and three water crossings. It’s certainly not an accessible hike, so don’t try it with a wagon! However, there is a shuttle that runs when the camp is open, and only on a ranger led tour.
It’s an interesting piece of history tucked away in a hidden corner of Shenandoah National Park!

Nope, not at all. We had one good day of rain maybe? I read that because of El Niño we were going to be wetter than average, but I have yet to see it.
