Veganism would only work if humans were not omnivores
    Guess what, we are

Stop Stop I can hear you like the sound of your own voice, but you look too easily at how this could be done, for example, the perfect vegan lifestyle would be where we grew fruit and vegetables self, that can only be done in a thin belt around the earth, close to the equator everywhere else it has to be transported, today container ships sail around the world and emit as much co2 as a family of 4 does in a week, just by sailing 32 feet, and a little quick math , a trip from South America to Norway will emit as much co2 as Denmark does in a year, wait until after 3 world wars and 5 billion people have died, then your utopia might be possible

Where your theory fails first is that veganism started in England during WWII when importing food was almost impossible. Donald Watson, who notably grew his own veg, was around 53° N. It's say it was easy enough upto 60° N/S. But these days, eg they grow bananas on Iceland, so what's the issue? Fine, only eat imported foods that are possible to be shipped by land or sail. Transport emissions have been calculated for all foods, they're a very small fraction of the total energy/pollution equation.
You need to research this idea more precisely.

@@lorabenz It sounds like you're confusing the ideals of Freelee's raw food/fruitarianism, with veganism. My point re Iceland as an extreme is that it's doable. It's certainly not sensible, nor essential, but it can happen. Diets appropriate for northern/temporate regions are different from tropical diets. You certainly wouldn't want a diet rich in tropical fruit if you lived in Scandinavia or Iceland.
