    Well said man. Love it. Ran a Cobb Stage 1 OTS Map on my last Subaru for well over 150,000kms with no issues (at least none related to the tuning). Great clarity for those who just read forums/threads...

    Haven’t watched the video but factory tunes are all OTS.. meant to work across all regions & elevations and everyone assumes factory tunes are bulletproof and perfectly safe

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523
      @boostcontrolledperformance1523  Год назад +6

      Another fair point to add!

      But factory tunes have so much broad margin that you can never think of. They are specifically designed to accommodate all regions and elevations while ensuring safety and reliability. Assuming they are bulletproof isn’t far from the truth, as their broad margin allows for flexibility and consistent performance in diverse conditions that local tunes simply cannot match.

    You said it brother. Essentially, every car comes with a 91 octane OTS map from the factory (they have to be distributed anywhere in the country). Chill out kids.

    Killing it man. Spot on. Great video and information. I really enjoyed watching it. The content was well-researched and presented in a clear and concise manner. The visuals were also engaging and helped to enhance my understanding of the topic. Overall, it was a fantastic video that provided valuable information.

    As an owner of a WRX premium with 27k miles. Your E30 OTS tune with burble for my AFe power intake and Garrett tmic, paired with my HKS dual chamber resonator with twin Genome mufflers is awesome. The sound is refined and the throttle is very linear and give me a chance to practice heel and toe. The 3rd to 2nd gear downshift announces my arrival very nicely per the taco truck guys. Yes the Colin McRae does come out on occasion. Mpg not bad. 19 city and 25-27 hwy. Cant wait for next stage of bolt ons

    I ran a stage 2 cobb OTS tune on my 02 for well over a decade and never had 1 engine related issue at all.

      Do you drive super conservatively 24/7 or do you let her rip every now and then?

    • @matd8958
      @matd8958 4 месяца назад

      @xgdubjrx821 I let it rip every once in awhile for sure. I have noticed in the last 10k miles . Not sure if bad gas but it throw the feedback knock sensor for quick second 5 then back to zero as i come thru 3rd to 4th gear. And it rarely happens .

    Thanks for the information, new to the channel , what I’m thinking of doing is going from stock to buying COBB stage 2 package, having it all professionally installed and tuned . This car is a semi daily , storage during winter months .. want little more power and fun . Not sending it to the moon … my luck is lose my license with my current heavy foot ! 😂

    Thanks for the video it calmed my nervous. My car is stock and i have it on stage 1 cobb ots for 2 years now. Dam has only dropped once and i get the occasional cruising 1.41 and een rarer 2.8 knock and learn which even cobb say is completely normal. When reading about ots on reddit and forums i thought i was killing my car.

    I'm coming from the Mustang world and never heard the term "Protune" used, we just call them Custom tunes. I bought a 2021 wrx new for a daily since my Mustang has become to thirsty for a daily. I ran stock tune for the first 30k then decided to try a OTS tune because these cars fall flat in the 4K rpm range and its a bummer. Being new to Subaru and hearing how "fragile" the engines are had me a bit uneasy about tuning or modding this car. Doing more research on them I've come to the conclusion that a lot has to do with maintenance and who tunes the car. I feel that a lot of the issues with these cars is so many are owned by young drivers and they don't take care of them like someone with performance car experience. So I bought the Cobb Accessport and put the stage1 93 OTS map on and it's been good. It's superior to the stock tune and should have done it sooner. Now I have a few parts to install and bought a Dmann custom tune, so that will happen in a couple weeks. I think this video is really good information in a world with an excess of bad information.

    Is there an ots tune for downpipes or is that always going to need a pro tune

    I have a brand new 23 WRX, not even broke in yet at 400 miles. Eventually after I put many miles on this thing and prove it's not a dud I may tune it. In the mean time I did want to open up the sound a bit so I ordered an ETS catback and just a cobb drop in filter. I don't need a tune for those parts right? In terms of reliability/safety.

    When is an AOS necessary? I'm thinking about doing a Cobb SF intake and a tune (either COBB OTS or etune).

    OTS tunes should be safe, but they aren't always. When the FA20 WRX came out the early OTS maps actually caused LSPI for many.

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523
      @boostcontrolledperformance1523  Год назад +1

      While this may be true that some OTS maps will have revisions that improve unintended side effects, It's worth pointing out that if the OTS maps had the issue it's likely that tuners were going to be experiencing similar as well.
