I am no longer in the Subaru game but Anthony tuned my VB last year. He is top notch and maybe the best in my opinion. It is worth every penny with him.
I just got my car tuned from Anthony. Absolutely blown away with his work. Highly recommend. Only bolt on mod I have is an ETS cold air intake. With his 93 tune I'm hitting a peak of 20-21psi boost.
Both the host and guest (Dmann) were very respectful to each other. Dmann is very knowledgeable. Never seen him before but have heard of him. Great tips!
Dmann tuned my 17 a while back. Such a pleasure to deal with. It was my first time and he was patient. Car ran mint for the rest of the time I had it. Took multiple logs but I was pretty well modded and he wanted to get it right, which I respect. And yes, when you live in an area where it's tough to go WOT in the day, you'll be that guy hunting for spots at 3am, ask me how I know.
I've got three of Anthony's OTS tunes, love every one of them! I need to do the eTune before winter as I want to switch back to 93. I've only got one ethanol gas station in a 60 mile radius and they really cut back on the ethanol % in winter, plus some peace of mind on trips when I cannot find ethanol.
Ya, I thought the same. Even entirely stock car with his tune entirely makes the VB feel as it should. Absolutely no comparison to stock tune. 5w30, change it every 3000 miles and IAG AOS is highly recommended regardless.
Yeah, kind of… I might be old school but I like the face to face, getting an actual power number, plus it was cool to see the car on the rollers. I worked with my dyno tuner in person and I had some drivability stuff I wanted addressed, such as throttle remap, idle speeds at hot and cold adjusted, etc. I sent him data logs also driving around town. Just north of $600 for all that so hard to complain.
Just wanted to throw out there that I am leading a project to open these ECUs to the public, and will be releasing free software called Atlas under our North American Motorsports Research brand when everything is ready. We are building forged FA24s starting next week and will be tuning those as well this winter exclusively using Atlas as the development continues. Atlas doesn't require an AccessPort, it just requires you to have a laptop (MacOS and Steam Deck are also supported), and a Tactrix cable. We presently have full access to these ECUs and are working on some really awesome custom features next. That being said, you absolutely should get a tune from Dmann/etc., they are great as are many others in the market for tuning your Subaru. But if tuning your own car like the old open source days is something that interests you, search us up and follow along with us for progress!

I used to have a tune from Dman, but when I updated my accessport I couldn’t upload/change one of my tunes, sent the email to have the tune updated, and I NEVER got the updated file/response. A week or so had passed and I literally had enough time to find another tuner that was very responsive and helped me out. It’s a shame I enjoyed the dman tune, but the lack of communication killed it for me, especially for an etune, communication is everything.
That is very atypical for me tbh. I’m sorry that happened to you. But yeah no excuses when the update came out I had 1500+ requests. I had two shops even helping me full time update maps and I’m sure some still got lost. Should have never happened sir and I apologize. But in the end we are humans. But glad you found someone else that was able to help!
@@DrunkmannTuning I can understand it, nothing against you for sure. I was just in need to swap back to 91oct cause I was sitting on an e85 tune for too long and wanted to give the fuel system a break. When flex fuel is available I’ll be back though. I appreciate your good work.
I’m still kind of curious with the log process on the cvt. I don’t know if I missed it but when recording the logs do you need to be in a certain drive mode like sport or sport+ or does it not matter. Overall tho great video definitely made the process not seem so bad for someone new to this kind of stuff. And I’ve heard dmann tunes are the best so knowing it comes from him is a relief as well since I stay no where near him or someone that tunes these cars lol.
He seems to want elevation, but what about those of us up north, with snow in winter and 90+ degree summers? Are we getting a summer and winter map, or is it no longer necessary for that?
If I don't have all of my modifications added to my 22 VB, can i send the list of my stockpile of parts for the base map. Im going to pile up the parts and install them all at once
I have gotten two tunes for my car from different tuners. One was an e-tune from a popular tuner that's been around as long as or longer than dmann, the other is a local shop that did an actual dyno tune. Both are very different. Both produce within 3 hp of one another. The e-tune is much stronger in the midrange (MUCH stronger) but throttle response is very twitchy. The local shop insists that this is because the e-tune is adding more throttle than is actually being called for by the gas pedal (maybe so? I dunno). The dyno tune is much smoother but has none of that "punch" of the midrange. Overall I am very disappointed with both. Couple that with very bad experiences from Billetworkz and Perrin, and am in the process of demodding the car and selling it.
I asked dmann if he could add more throttle response an he told me not really so I wouldn't think it's throttle response I'd think the etune was hitting higher boost an more timing cause the stock turbo peaks in midrange running way less boost at max rpm why they feel so dif but hp pretty much same
@@JoshDillon-lm3hw Yeah I'd love to be able to compare these tunes somehow. I looked briefly into trying to lear how to do this (not professionally) but never got very far.
@RobGADV yeah I'd think you'd need access to cobbs software todo so which I think you can only get from there tuner class what is it you don't like about the tune I like mine except I just keep wanting more power everytime now
