Thank you Emma for reinforcing our message!

Did you do anything at all for your nasolabial folds?
@@NS-sn6kp no. Something's needs to be done though. Cheeks are settling and worsening it.
@@sarag1158 But are there any other alternatives? Botox would help, would it?
@@NS-sn6kp no. Bottom freezer muscles. I need volume.
I had no idea. Thank you for sharing this information.
You still have no idea .. this guy's on a mission to greatly or somewhat exaggerate the risk. Some of what he says is silly, other's correct.
I love how honest this doctor is 💗
Doc im Sooo torn im extremely insecure about my smile lines. I never had them untill now in my late 30's and it makes me feel old and unattractive. My face isnt full and youthful looking and even in photos they are very noticeable. However im petrified of needles and dont have the best finances. Society judges us based on our appearance and when your used to getting compliments on your appearance then get in your 30's and start 2feel invisible and not worthy in the eyes of society its a tough pill to swallow. Your video is very informative yet scary when i think about the negative consequences. Decisions, decisions 🤔...
this comment is so relateable
I have had laugh lines/nasolabial folds since high school and I am now in my 30's.. I never saw them as an issue until society started becoming so plastic obsessed. I still don't see them as a problem but I do not enjoy anyone drawing attention to them as though I should "fix" them.
WOW, this is CRITICAL INFO bravo Doctor!!! Thank you for the facial mapping!
I wish you were in the USA! I would make an appointment ASAP! Thank you for the information.
Having a treatment from this doctor would be 3x the price of a plane ticket to Australia plus a first class hotel for a week.
@@evelynbaron2004 wow really?
how come they aren't using "vein finder" light to see where the artery is?
Vein finders don't work on arteries.
Great minds think alike, I was wondering why they didn't use vein finders, they have great pocket sized ones!
Because it finds veins not arteries!
Do they have anything that will show arteries or in the process of developing a device to find facial arteries?
@@user-ru3zw6lz9h 😂😂 that’s why it’s called VEIN finders.
I had mine done last week, never knew any of this. It did go well however.
I also made a video about my experience on my channel.
Thank you doctor, I was considering getting nasolabial injections until you pointed out that they are especially dangerous and don't make a huge difference aesthetically. Think I'll spend money on veneers instead. 👍
OMG u scared me esp. with those pics around 2:39 i was gonna fill out my laugh lines,
thanks for the info, I will probably never do this now
Now I'm scared
He has successfully scared off most of us 😂... but I rather know the risks and love the honesty.
I just got this done. Now he has me scared
Dr. Chan all of your videos are amazing- honest, informative, and very well thought out. This information is helpful for both patients and providers. Thank you for taking the time to make these
I am a fan and now watch your videos before I do anything
Thanks mkg. Glad you like the videos. Love it how you watch them before doing anything else!
I felt extreme pain when the needle went in the practionioner proceedered , on my drive home i notied a huge white circle above the entry point in mid cheeck. Messeged the practioner about the blanching she said it still has blood flow not to worry. I developed a head ache fell aslerp at 8pm, woke up at 1am with one blood shot eye on the side of the trauma , blurry vission, was in a total panic, rang the practionor went to ger house by 2am had my whole face disdolved . My face was all bruised and i had a hard lump for week at the initional injection point
omg that's horrifying
How are you doing right now? What do you mean by whole face dissolved?? Side effects of hyalorunidase?
I call them, "Parenthesis."

I like to call cellulite "thigh dimples"
Hi Can u send me his addres plz and cost
What about aspiration. Does this eliminate or reduce the risk. Filling the cheeks in a fan formation can help reduce NL folds. It takes more filler and hence costs more.
This guys videos are just clickbait, why not explain how best to avoid vessel occlusion instead of waffling for 10 minutes.
I've had these lines at the nasal labial folds area. Even when I was in my early 30's. I hate these particular lines, they interfere with my makeup looking smooth.
Any topical seloution even for temporary time for this area?
Wow, this is scary, especially since I've had many fillers in my nasal labial folds and this was never mentioned. If it goes in an artery would I know about it by now or can it just block it or clog it up????
the problem is usually immediate in most cases.
Miranda frost Of course not, they want your money.
The most honest Doctor I have ever heard. We need more of these teachings. To make an informed decision
Very informative! Always love watching bc he Is very knowledgeable without rambling👍
Thank you. Appreciate your comment mj
Listening to you makes want to age naturally, Jesus sounds scary .
You could just use ultherapy for the areas the arteries are located in instead and fillers where they’re not.
I almost did this treatment 2 days ago!!! Thank you❤️
I know ultrasound is used for injections of hips or to guide IV's into arteries... could a similar device be used to guide filler in the face? As a means to avoid arteries of the face.
This is a top question. We have actually looked into using an ultrasound machine to detect facial arteries before injecting. However, the use of the machine requires some experience and training. Also it was extremely difficult to co-ordinate injecting and ultrasound. I don't know anyone who uses ultrasound to guide the needles and avoid arteries. It would be an ideal thing to do, but in the real world, it is just to difficult to co-ordinate.
@@viccosmeticinstitute Why not a vascular illumination device? I know there are Vein Viewers, I thought there were devices that illuminated arteries with infrared, also.
@@alphabet_soup123 no only veins. Arteries are with ultrasound
Someone needs to make smaller ultrasound device to detect facial arteries, then quickly wipe off the gel and mark where the arteries are
@@z.deutch1334 I like this idea. There will be some slight variance between person to person and whether marking the face or just having an extra hand hold the small device sounds plausible. Sure its a small area to work with and granted horror stories are few and far between when skilled hands are doing the job but, no one, and I mean no one wants a bad result.
Great video. I am convinced. Also lots of kids have nasolabial folds naturally and they are young and cute. Funny how as adults some people don't like them. Do you use a cannula for the forehead too?
God bless (although I am not religious) doctors like you, who actually raise awareness about the potential danger of certain procedures and educate people. Please, never stop doing this!
Thanks for this info, as I never knew the potential complication of having this procedure.👍
omg this is so scary
Respectfully I know your information is right, I know you’re scaring some people from getting this done lol but There are risks for any procedure or any surgery done. It’s a risk you take. Go to someone experienced and hope for the best. I gotten fillers for my nasolabial folds from a very experienced person, no complications and love the results 😊
Did you get them filled in the folds themselves? And how much filler did it take for them to disappear? I ask cause I'm s young guy and I just want the line gone. I dont wanna overdo it or anything. How many syringes do you think it takes?
@@loverofhumanity not sure if you'll see this or if you've already had it done, but I'm 24 and just got it done. No complications. She used a cannula and only half a syringe of filler for a natural result. She injected right into the folds as opposed to filling the cheek area for an overall lift because I'm young enough that my cheeks have enough volume and any more would look strange. I gotta say I'm happy I did it. Even though nobody has even noticed a difference, I feel much better about how mine look. I say go for it if you have the coin and can find a place that you trust to do it right.
@@brookelawrence9124 okay thank you for the response. I appreciate the info. Will look into getting half a syringe I guess and not more.
@@loverofhumanity
It’s very easy to tell where your facial artery is on your face pertaining to the nasolabial fold. Since the artery lies superficially, simply place your finger r gently above the area there and you will feel a pulsating beat from blood flow. Where ever you feel the beat the strongest is where your facial artery lies. Mine is medial to the nasolabial fold, so I can inject directly into my fold since my artery is lying alone the mouth.
@@loverofjesus4856 do you inject it yourself?
Great video but you did not give an alternative to make this area look better. What’d be your recommendation ?
exactly
He actually did say it would be better if they injected perpendicular to the artery. It would greatly reduce the risk substantially, and also to use a cannula instead of a needle. Hope that helps!!
also waiting for this response too :(
I embrace this area because of You! Smiling My thanks Dr.!
Thank you for explaining everything in such great details! ❤️
Wow thank you for this video. This procedure has been something I’ve wanted but not with this much risk!
I agree..👌🏻💯
I just decided to not get fillers! Thank you Dr.😃
Why not also suggest that practitioners also use a "Accuvein" type tool that can help see, map veins not only for nasolabial but also temporal and orbital areas as well?
Educate us on Marionette lines. Think most aging folds on face. Mine are deep. No facelift wanted so what do you suggest.
We have a video on this topic from a few weeks ago
Laser
I am not a fan of filling NL folds, as a primary strategy. It creates a of the face in that region, which looks odd. I'd rather fill my cheeks and undereye, as a way to lift things.
Agreed!!
Ty for this
I had bellafill in Nasolabial Folds two years ago and nothing bad happened, after watching this vid I was concerned that would it be an issue for the future? I would only use hydraulic filler from now on
What is the difference between hydraulic and dermal?
Omgosh I'm so bummed out this is the only procedure I've been contemplating😞... I do really need this area addressed (in my 50's). I have fine lines right above my lip. I'm fine with the way the rest of my face is ageing... So far😂!!
Thank you so much for this information 🙂
I have nasal labial folds that I inherited from my beautiful mum who also had the natural cheekbone structure I lack. At the age of 64 should I dive in and have one more go at being vain, I'd have actual surgery; drooping upper eyelids and a small chin implant and the rest just good skin care -- totally anecdotal, but I commented because we're all so subjective about what actually will enhance our looks. This video was really helpful for this reason. And sometimes a professional will objectively demystify our minor obsessions and pun intended, keep them in focus. Many thanks.
Thank you for this video.
I will learn to love my lines and wrinkles..
My lines tell you my story…
Where are actual cases of deformities? I just saw pictures but I would rather have case history with those photos! I’m going to look up case deformities or disfigurement because I don’t believe everything I hear. I especially don’t like scare tactics!
I find this man so attractive 😍
I had mine done by a derm and I love it !
Over 10 years ago, a nurse hit my artery when injecting the nasolabial folds. She made a real mess of it but fortunately the filler didn't get into the artery. The needle irritated it and has seemed to bring the artery to the surface so I see a pulse under the skin in 2 places which is much more prominent when it is hot. Dr Chan, is there anything that can be done about this or anyway it can look less noticeable? Thank you, L
I'm sorry, I can't say I have ever heard of this before . might be worth getting an ultrasound to see if there is a problem with your artery?
Interesting and helpful! Wondered if aspirating before injecting filler is enough to avoid injecting into facial artery? I have watched many videos but have not come across anyone answering this question.
I'm no longer want fillers !!! Thanks
👌🏻💯
Is there still a risk after months that the filler is already in ?
So let’s say I had this kind of filler twice and the last time was in February is there months later still a risk that the filler goes in to an artery that leads to the eyes or else?
no, it is only at the time of injection. Once it is in, it won't float into the artery after some time.
another great video
aside from not realising how potentially dangerous it can be, mine are part of my face furniture 🤣
part of my natural facial landscape, as you mentioned
i get botox for my tramlines on my forehead, another natural feature of my face that i have had since i was very young, from constantly raising my eyebrows - botox has really improved my appearance (incidentally i never suffered from the classic 11s from knitting my brows together. i don’t and never have had that issue
i have had practitioners suggest filler for my nasoblasial folds, but i never really felt the need
you can usually tell if someone has had it done, very flat faced. it’s like some injectors don’t appreciate that some people's faces are made that way
Around 10 years ago, I did try this procedure, after a few pricks, we had to stop, I was about to pass out. Since then....I have never walked back into face altering. Now age with Grace. Thanks for your information.
I was seriously considering to get fillers in this area. After watching this video, I decided not to. Thank you for this informative video....
Very sobering. Reconsidering having filler here.
Thank you so much, Doc! Your precaution is very much appreciated!!! You are a great doctor!👍💖🤗
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Doctor.
And this is why I would never ever get filler on my face. Thank you
I wanna know about the focal length choice used for his close-up
Is there another procedure that will take the lines away?
Could you use a thread lift instead of filler to get rid of the nasolabial folds? Do thread lifts cause sagging down the road?
what about needles pen injections? are they also dangerous?
Wow just wow thank you for this incrediable video, we’ve just think it’s a filler but it’s a real science. I’ve just think it’s not worth the risk
Thank you for a very informative video! I am saving some money to have some minor work done later this year, and your videos are giving me lots of knowledge that I will use when choosing a practitioner, and also choosing specific procedures to have done. Thank you!
thank you Pamela for your comments. Much appreciated. Glad to see the video was of some use.
Thank you dr! For warning people!
I’m trying to educate myself on procedures! Thanks for this information!
Thank God I saw this video!🙏🏾 Looks like I’ll just keep taking my collagen supplement. 🤷🏾♀️💕💕💕
does that actually work for you? Hasnt worked for me yet and I take 6 huge horse pills a day
That shit did nothing but cause eye floaters for me. Guess I'm fucked lol
It doesn't work
Truly great insight thank you, I am researching before I take the plunge your information is so helpful.
So how about threadlift to reduce that nasolabial ?
As a previous user of threadlifts, I have found them not to be very effective as well as any slight effect that you do get is not very long lasting. But if they did work, yes they would reduce nasolabial folds
@@viccosmeticinstitute thankyou for your reply . Very informative !. I hv friend, she fill naso with fat graft at korea. Looks good
Thank you so much for your honesty. I now subscribed. 👍 ☺
Does lip injections are dangerous too? And what filler is the best for lips?
Excellent info in your videos, thank you. Totally agree. I once had the naso lines filled at the strong suggestion of my dr, an eye surgeon. Lines were not deep and didn't bother me, but there was left over restylane from doing the under-eye tear troughs and wanted to use it up.
So the dr filled the naso area; it had an odd pushing-down effect on my mouth that was not good at all. Beforehand, I had a normal looking mouth area; slight uplift at the corners, short upper lip, a natural pout you coud say. After the naso injections, my mouth went horizontal/straight eg., a letterbox mouth. Ugh! I've seen this look on reality TV celebs. Not a good look and even worse, it lasted for a year!
Wow... thank u for the honesty. Better do face yoga
I completely understand that facial artery is danger zone however as long as one doesn't inject close to the bone, it should work out?
With linear technique?
The artery doesn't run on the bone, it is in the subcutaneous (fat layer) plane. There are many ways to avoid the facial artery, and each principle should be adhered to, including; using a cannula, going perpendicular to the artery, going at depths where the artery doesn't reside, injecting very slowly, moving whilst injecting.
Ok did I miss something? This was informative but do you suggest fillers in the cheek to reduce the nasiobal folds and smile lines? As I age I am losing volume in my cheeks which is the reason for the lines. Also, what do you think of collagen powder? Does it help add volume to.your face? Thanks doc
I got my nasolabial folds filled 3 years ago and they still look puffy. Any idea why that might be? Counterfit product maybe? Encapsulation? Location of the injection?
What is your opinion about the "hyaluropen"? Greetings and great info.
How much does it cost to fill outer corners of receding sockets, please let know!
Really worth watching. It was very informative and you were very honest. Thank you for that.
what about retrograde injection? wouldn't it also diminish the risk of intravascular problems since you're only injecting as you pull out?
Thank u Dr!! It is much better to know all the benefits and risks of a procedure. Also ur videos are such a great help for patients and fellow drs. Very educational thank u!
Is it possible when doing fillers ti aspire a bit first with the syringe in order to see if blood comes out? Would it be an indication of hitting an artery? I pass all ur videos to a friend who is a dr.
Cheers!!
Yes you can try aspirating. But there are two main issues with this that can lead to a false negative response. These are moving the needle after a negative aspiration and going into a blood vessel, and the fact that most fillers are too thick to allow aspiration.
@@viccosmeticinstitute Thank u for the answer Dr!
@@viccosmeticinstitute
"...and the fact that most fillers are too thick to allow aspiration."
But, you would aspire BEFORE injecting the fillers, wouldn't you? Otherwise what's the point of aspiring? Thanks.
Would you know of any doctors in Southern California who are as knowledgeable as you are that you could recommend for people like me who cannot travel all the way to Australia for these procedures a few times a year?
Get a mid facelift and problem solved
That's what I'm thinking. After I hit 40, before the menopause.
How about aspirating the needle first? And aren't nasolabial folds injected very superficial. Under the skin? Would that make it safer?
So then what will be a better alternative to help reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds?
Woow Amazing video ❤❤❤❤
Hi, I would like to know if I use a Hyaluron pen for the nasolabial, still danger? Thanks
Absolutely love your way of teaching I like the new way you've gone about it ur humor is the best!! Thanks a million
Dr Chan, what if you inject Radiesse into a vessel? What do you use instead of hyalorunidase? Thank you
This is a worse situation as there is nothing that can be injected to immediately reverse Radiesse.
Injecting into a vessel with botox - can similar complications arise?
Would you still see blanching if an artery is nicked? And is there less damage when an artery is nicked vs injected with filler?
I have this line on side of my mOuth since I was 18 (24 nOw) it mainly stayed the same can't really see it and I always want to get it filled cos it bothers me but hmm
I have the exact same thing. It's just a line but not a fold. Not getting it filled after being educated from this video, laser or peels are a better option
Ayyeee Productions Did the peeling work better?
I'm 23 n already have this n marionette lines n lost cheek bone deprestion was very messy for me
Can I please share this doctor? I always avoid this area and believe that your video highlights all the reasons so well. Thank you!
Please feel free to share our video! Thank you for asking ... very polite of you.
I have had one autologus fat transplant and one filler injection in this area and although I would not do the fat transplant again , I feel very lucky I have had zero side effects. This is scary to watch but it is important we understand the risks
Do you think microcannula can actually puncture facial artery during insertion? I have watched several videos and read many articles and some of them suggest that the risk arterial damage of using needle vs microcannula is the same. I personaly dont agree but would love to know what you think. I can see you mainly use canniulas.
Regards
milka Walerysiak if you use a 27G or 25G cannula and inject very slowly and always moving the cannula you lower the risk. Using a smaller diameter cannula is the same as using a needle.
@@Lililililili333 thank you.
