Remember that when a person has a service animal, that you will have to accommodate the service animal.

*This is a PAID AD 😂
I am a independent contractor, I don’t have to accommodate anything it’s my car, and I will do what I want. If you want to take service animals that’s you, I have the right to decline for any reason.
Are you sure about being able to decline or cancel a ride when there is a service animal involved? Fortunately I have only done one ride and though the rider claimed her dog was a service dog, but I doubt it. That ride was my only service dog ride in about a year or so. Tell me how I can get out of a service animal ride without getting kicked off the platform.
That's why there's Uber pet. Service dogs, get 1 star. I thought I was independent contractor. Dogs dirty our seats, and they smell bad.
Not everyone is a dog lover but once? I was please don’t throw up. I’m pulling over. I’m there is no tip that will make this ok. I was it in the back of my neck? I’m eww.
I approve this message
@@nicoles.6819what are you trying to say? I'm confused lol
Yup for the prices Uber paying we are all allergic to service animals.
I have two cats. I’m so allergies is my midlife crisis?
I would take the dog especially a service dog. But the reason is the dogs can rip up your leather. Service dogs are trained.
I have a policy. I’m don’t throw up. I’m too late.
20k rides under my belt. Half the dogs are noy service animals. Had a ghetto trash bring a pitbull in my car once, felt sketchy af. Another time had a dog scratch the shit out of my leqther seats. Uber said its normal part of wear and tear wouldnt give me any money
Wait til you get the service snake and service peacock
That’s why once you see a dog you cancel that ride. That’s what all the Uber drivers show do. Uber pet is there for a reason.
All dogs are service dogs according to riders. Never had someone say its not a service dog. Require proof that its a service dog just like we require proof of drivers license, registration, ect!
Ada doesn't allow you to go beyond the two questions.
(1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
(2) What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
You can't ask for documentation.
Service animals I have sat on my floor.
I have written out what I ask customers with animals. That explains I am required to take service animals . Also explains you can get uber pet rides with drivers who accept them .
All the real service animal rides have been obvious.
I never turn down service animals. But I do turn down pets and emotional support animal. I've had bad experience, like a long ride with a dog making noise and scratching at my car interior. I'm always afraid pets may become car sick or other bodily fluids.
Not everyone has well behaved and well socialized dogs. There are also those who don't keep their dogs cleaned and well groomed. The only dogs I allow in my car are service dogs. By law we have to allow service dogs but we don't have to accept other dogs. I don't have Uber pet for a reason.
You are only required to take “Certified Service Animals”. I take my chances and go to court and have passenger prove on the day and hour I refused, their animal was certified. In my state “emotional support animals are not covered. The blind passenger is obvious.
There is no such thing as a “certified” service dog. If you are happy discriminating against disabled pax you should not be a for hire driver. With that attitude you won’t be a driver for long.
The issue is that you can only ask the passenger whether it is a service animal and what service it performs. If the pax lies to you, your clue will be that the animal is not well-behaved. I have interior video and will report any pax to Uber who I believe is lying. If the animal is unruly, you have video evidence and can kick them out.
I approve this message, PREACH!!!!
Hi Jay. A few videos ago you urged drivers to drive more hours to combat the historically horrible pay from Uber and Lyft. This tactic really benefits Uber and Lyft. As a veteran driver, I would think you would advocate for higher pay. I did not comment on that video, however it left me feeling a little uneasy. Now you are advocating for the drivers to take all dogs, and blindly believe that they are all service animals. We really enjoy your videos and that video seemed a little odd. Now you follow up with this video. You have completed close to 30k rides in 7 years. There is no way that you believe the words that came out of your mouth in this video regarding dogs. So what is your true motive? I really hope you did not go over to the dark side, and are on Uber and/ or Lyft's payroll. Please say it's not so.
Right… well said
I think Jay takes those 3.00 rides going 8 miles
🤔 I wonder…… you are so right he has definitely been pushing Uber and Lyfts narrative.
I think the Uber policy for service animals is trash. They should still leave it up to the driver to discern the ride or not. Also all animals should be upfront knowledge to the driver before accepting the ride. The one time I did have a dog ride in my car (will never do again) dog had diarrhea in my car and fucked my entire back seat. Terrible experience. I’d rather risk being deactivated by declining an animal in the car. Gave this video a thumbs up but completely disagree with your philosophy….. it’s still our car with rideshare and our discussion and Uber shud change their policy.
Only public transit could be forced to comply. They have resources to clean up potential messes.
Please don't tell us about dogs. It's my car and I started doing uber coz they told us that we gonna pick up people not animals
People who want to take animals let them do it. People have fears of animals I won't do it MY CAR to many issues with riders not wanting to ID them selves and tired of the threat from Uber of deactivation MY DAMN CAR!!!!!!!!!
I got a bad review after dropping off a paz eith a "service dog". I had stacked rides, dropped off.px with service animal, cleared out the blanket that was covering the back seats and all. Picked up the next oax, they were sending the whole ride. Turns out they were allergic to pet hair as well. They ask me who was in the car before them I told th3m. I got a bad review.😡😡😡
Customers say all their pets are service animals regardless if they are true service pets to not pay the uber pets ride
❤❤❤Great CONTENT, Brother Jay. The MAIN problem in my market is that the customer DOES not want to pay for "Uber pet." These CEOs ALLOW this! Stop taking trash 🗑 rides in San Diego, California! These dogs that are pets WILL pee, poop 💩 , may BITE and get sick! They also MAY damage YOUR vehicle! Good luck getting compensated for DAMAGES from Uber or Lyft!
In spring some dogs shed
Thanks!
Come on man, seriously?? Every dog I pick up leaves a smell in my car and fur in my car which I have to clean up before my next passenger so that I won't get a one-star for pet hair and possibly get a tip for a nice clean not smelly car!!
I really don't think you thought this one thru!!
There's way too much risk in the animals scratching my leather seats. They could pay me an extra $50 a ride and I still wouldn't do it
Neither would I.
What about an emotional support "honey badger" 🍯?
🤣😁😅😂
Emotional Support Animals aren't covered
LMFAO don’t forget the Raccoon
Having experienced living with someone with a challenge, this situation is relatable.
Thiat said, I think rather than Uber towing the line of a blanket rule on dogs, they should actually design a program that gives more incentives to drivers who signup to pick pets and their owners. That way this issue won't be an issue anymore.
Had doggies all my life but I have a black interior. Did a service dog fare shed everywhere and peed in the back. Any compensation? HEll NO
Uber or Lyft should give a heads up that a dog is coming before the driver accepts the ride. They don’t to my understanding. I only had one situation and I respectfully declined the ride because the dog was not in a cage and only the smell, the hair, possible damage was no go for me. They are paying way too low to make worth it.
I had a Gal, with her dog , pouring rain, pickup was at a busy Dog park, trip was 1.5 miles... I took the trip. The mess wasn't as bad as I thought. But, with all rain, and my attention on how messy was going to be, was not pleasant. I didn't claim a cleanup fee.
I also have no interest in taking a dog in an Uber or Lyft ride because Uber and Lyft are so ready to deactivate you based on the passengers comments to them not on any evidence of wrongdoing or turning down a ride. If Uber and Lyft were more cooperative with the drivers and cared more about what we thought then I think a lot more people would be open to helping Uber when it comes to pet rides.
fyi: dogs don't have four legs they just walk on both their arms and their legs.
CAN SOMEONE COMMENT ON THE NEW HOVR APP
Hi Jay. I really like your content. However, you are completely wrong. Maybe because you are such a nice guy, you are naive to the facts and believe the rider when they say the dog is a service animal. Jay my friend, most riders are lying. The dogs are not trained and can be very dangerous. Dogs have been known to chew on the seats, use the bathroom, 1 and 2, and even attack drivers. When reported to Uber, Uber does not care. Uber also states, you can not ask for proof. These so called service dogs are not vetted in any compacity. That my friend is why your hear drivers do not take dogs. Also, you being a fellow driver, you should apologize for calling these drivers lazy. These are very smart entrepreneurs. On a separate note, do you have a channel based on your day trading? If not, that would be pretty cool.
The cleanup. They leave hair. They lick things. They smell.
While legit service animals are mostly ok with this regard, some pets are awful and uncontrolled.
Uber Pet is there for a reason. And I do Uber Pet and educate those without legit service animals.
After someone takes an Uber Pet ride, I vacuum the car and also wipe down all surfaces with disinfectant and spray ozium. the process takes like 2 minutes on average and costs me less than $1. But I only do this for Uber Pet requests.
I love dogs. I used to have 2 English Bulldogs, but dogs leave hair everywhere. I will spend an hour or more vacuuming if I aloud dogs in the car, so dogs are a no for me. Besides, they don't pay enough for me to even consider it.
I’m sorry but I laughed at this video.
You can denied a dog as long as it's pet. You can't denied service animals..
Dog walker who uses Uber. I have gotten 1 star ratings just for mentioning I’m a dog walker. Usually because the driver is Indian or middle eastern where dogs are considered pests.
I just signed up for uber pet. I’m hoping this way I can bring my poodle along in drive sharing.
Because I have a 50k car with leather seats? So glad I have not run into any of these rides. It's not the smell, I have in car filters to take care of that. It's the claws. You cannot get the scratches out. Long or recently trimmed claws will do a number on your leather seats. I know because I had 3 big dogs for 14 years. Even with a blanket, they tend to move around, and one scratch is enough to wreck it all. Of course they need rides, but I don't think my automobile is a good choice. We have a lot of drivers with cloth seats and ample space. I am glad we have uber pet so I can opt out.
I don't trust anyone that actually said " take rate doesn't matter"
1 in 30 rides you have someone with a service animal? I have never refused a ride for a service animal, but I do have to stop and wipe down the seat afterwards since they always shed. You can’t just say there the same as people and have it be true.
I would quit if forced to take dogs, it does not pay to bring dogs in my car.
I love dogs but the fur gets stuck on seat if you have cloth seats and to vacuum is tuff you have to really try also if other people get in they look at the fur
Uber should only offer to those with pets checked in preferences , period.
You keep saying "dog" but you should be saying "service animal". A service animal is a legal definition under the ADA and drivers are required to allow service animals in their vehicles. We are not required to allow any dog in our vehicle-this includes "emotional support animals" which do not fall under the ADA. I've given rides to people with a service animal. I don't give rides to people's pets.
Try denying service to a rider's dog and find out whether the rider will try to get you deactivated or not.
@@rocketboostjumpI have. Multiple times. This is one of the reasons I have a dash cam. I also immediately call support and report the rider for not using the "Pet" option which I have turned off.
@@RideUpstate many drivers were deactivated for not taking pets on their rides. Uber mainly sides with the riders.
I will pick up a guide dog or any service animal but I will not pick up the pet friendly because these dogs have not been trained or your relaxation dog whatever you call them
Interesting Jay how you chose to use the words "dog" and "service animal" interchangeably.
Ok, you like dogs. Good for you. Run your car how you want to run your car.
"Dog" and "service animal" are not synonyms.
99.9% of dogs are not "service animals," they're pets.
Rideshare drivers are not obligated to transport pets.
On rainy days I turn off Uber pet, on sunny days it’s on.
Here's the thing. It doesn't matter what you think. You are biased because you previously owned a dog. There are far to many people bringing dogs that are not service animals into a perfect strangers vehicle. You nor Uber can control what a independent contractor does. It doesn't matter if it allergies, personal preference or that particular person does not want any animals in his/her vehicle. I accommodate true service animals. Other than that. No go.
Would be easy, just add a 20 dollars fee for dogs/service dog and would be ok...for that half hour to 1 hour loss of time for cleaning
Not enough they need a UberSpecial rides with service animals should be 150.00 due to cleaning
Ok but why can't I bring my service animal while I am driving? 😊
Hey Jay, you are at no position to sit behind a camera and call people lazy, different people drive different part of the country for different reasons in different road, weather etc condition. I understand the service animal part, just stop creating made up solution on be half of these nonsense companies who are essentially taxi company but avoid the taxi companies liabilities by calling themselves “ tech company “ are you honorary board member or something, one day you tell people to drive only on left lane when driving on highway next day you tell them to drive longer hours because pay is terrible now you want people to play with passengers dog while giving them ride ! What’s next ? How about we work more and pay passengers debt once month, you are just an other driver like many of us dude.
PREACH, Jay needs an intervention
That’s against the rideshare terms of service.
Work longer hours and let the dogs in .. ok got it 🤦♂️
I love dog passengers. Better than weed stinking passengers who roll a j on the back seat and spill it in my car. Enjoy your day trading videos. I actively trade but dont day trade.
Now cats. Love them but they don’t like car rides. I’m you are absolutely not dying right now. You are not dead. I’m omg.
I would be snake? We can get along. Now people? I’m what you need to do. Is sit down and shut your mouth because I do not care about your problems. Got my own.
Service Animals and calm pets No Problem. Uncontrollable Dogs and outside dirty fogs, NOPE. Just want to protect my Car.
It's not the service dogs, it's the "service dogs"
My car my rules.
Crazy. I have never refused to pic up a rider with a dog. In fact the dogs i have met were emaculate!!!! Dogs rule!!!!!!!
I normally like your takes but you lost me on this one. We get it your an animal lover, which is evident in your bias & assumptions. However consider that...
1) The majority of the time its not a service animal, it's just a pet & unfortunately it just takes one bad experience to not want to take anymore chances.
2) I am allergic to pet dander which causes me to sneeze & my eyes get irritated which affects my ability to see clearly. So pls don't dismiss folks with allergies just bc you dont think it's a big deal unless it blocks your ability to breath smh.
3) Not everyone has enough room on the floor behind the driver's seat especially if you drive a compact sedan like I do. Not to mention some passengers won't be ok with their dogs on the floor.
4) If they leave a mess the cleaning fee is there but the hassle of having to stop working to clean up isnt worth it. Especially if they tear or scratch your interior.
5) Uber must incentivized drivers (more pay for pet related rides) not threaten us bc clearly that isnt working. That's the only way to offset some the extra concerns & related problems. And even then many drivers will still not want to do so.
Dude’ pause the camera and scratch that nose of yours. You can stitch the video together later. It’s annoying to watch.
Urinating & other bodily fluids on my seat is my issues
