    I've watched all (that came up in the search) the RUclips videos on replacing this motor. This is the best. Unlike many others Jeff gives you step by step, clear and concise instructions. He replaces the motor in much the same detail oriented way that I would and without annoying jibber jabber; I didn't watch this to hear his life's story or how he got into cars. Thank you Jeff. I did find a better part I think but I haven't yet installed it so I'm hoping at this point...

    Very concise! Especially master switch panel release points and such. Very important to approach correctly to minimize fracturing the aged and brittle molded in plastic clips that keep everything snug. Your style is so clear and helpful! Much appreciated & thanks for taking the time to be so detailed to help everyone.

    Great Vid:
    Tip (1) Once you get the regulator repositioned with the hooks lined up, finger tight at least one of the bolts before attempting to plug in the motor in case you bump the regulator and it falls down resulting in damage to the motor wiring.
    Tip (2) Some aftermarket regulators do NOT come with alignment hooks so you will have to hold the regulator with one hand as you put in a few bolds to hold it in place.

    thanks man , made it easy, especially the lining the window up. The screws for the motor had to be threaded with the old screws, that's the only part you left out.thanks for posting completed the whole job in about an hour.

    Hi Jeff. I watched your video and replace the motor but when I press down it goes up. Was I sold the wrong motor or is there a setting in the motor I need to change? The window goes up and down just fine but the it is reversed from all the other windows.

  • @AikidoTubeSock

    Jeff, what brand did you use to replace the junk part? I've looked around and found an Aisin, but only the motor/regulator combo (around $100). Others included a Cardone (lifetime warranty) for about $75 and many cheaper (probably Chinese) brands of various quality and a 1 year warranty.
    Is yours still working?

    I don't think you have to remove the glass. Just unbolt it and slide it up manually and either tape it to the door or stick a piece of cardboard between the window and inside of door to hold it in place.

    • @devilmecare
      @devilmecare 2 года назад

      I've done it twice. It was easier on my second window I took the glass out. Moved the regulator all the way down with the motor and then attached the glass.

    If the switch doesn't work then how do you align the bolts

  • @tanveernaeem1157
    @tanveernaeem1157 4 года назад

    Great video; just one question though. While installing motor, do the gears on motor and rack have to be in a certain alignment or in a specific position to avoid over or under run, or hitting the top or bottom after the glass is installed? Your help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

    • @JeffsAuto
      @JeffsAuto  4 года назад

      My recollection is that is does not matter. I believe the motor will run continuously until it hits resistance, then an internal circuit breaker cuts off the power. But, to be sure, suggest plugging it into the connector in the door, just the motor, and flip the switch to see if it keeps running or bottoms out. If so, setup the placement accordingly.

      @@JeffsAuto Thank you for responding. I marked the position of motor and regulator with a permanent marker before dismantling, but it got erased unintentionally. Now I'm a bit at loss. The motor on its own rotates freely in both directions, so I am assuming (and as you said correctly) that the motor is supposed to run continuously until it detects resistance. The power window is not equipped with auto detection.

    Very helpful, thanks. (My window is completely dead, so I'm thinking it might be tought to get to both window bolts if the window won't move...) I hate to take it to a dealer!

    • @JeffsAuto
      @JeffsAuto  5 лет назад

      The reason these electric windows goes dead over time is because the safety switch in the motor that limits the pressure of window going up wears out. After a lot of use, the switch gets corroded and the connection goes bad. So it is usually not that the window is binding, or anything like that, its just the switch won't let the motor put any power to the window. The bolts are probably fine.

  • @pizzanpepsi

    I might add that for some reason I could not line up holes closest to motor with door frame. I thought I had a bum regulator. After awhile I decided to start over. I took motor back off regulator, meshed up motor closer to middle of regulator teeth, then reinstalled and like magic, everything lined up. This was on a 99 Camry left driver side door.

    Can THIS motor going bad affect the other door windows, like maybe it fried the "lock all windows" button as well and so the rest are stuck in the locked position?

    • @JeffsAuto
      @JeffsAuto  4 года назад

      Each window motor has a circuit breaker that reduces the window power for safety purposes. Over time, the contact points on the circuit breaker build up corrosion and eventually the motor stops working. This condition seems to be even worse on a cold day for some reason. I have never once seen a problem with the lock all windows button so I am not sure about it shorting out.

    What if you can't access the window bolts because the window is stuck upwards because the motor died

  • @williamrodriguez2112
    @williamrodriguez2112 7 лет назад +2

    Hey Sr I have my window stuck all the way up , seems that the motor burned out and left the window up , how can I loose the window from the regulator if I don't have any hole to do it through?

    • @JeffsAuto
      @JeffsAuto  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, that makes it a little harder. But, if you unbolt the regulator, the whole assembly will drop down enough inside the door to reach the two window bolts with a combination wrench.

    Am i missing something,you say to drop the window to obtain access to the lower bolt,but if the motor is not working?

    • @JeffsAuto
      @JeffsAuto  3 года назад

      In most cases, the motor does not stop working completely, it just looses power. In other words, it can go down, but not up.

    Do you have to have power to remove this part??

    • @JeffsAuto
      @JeffsAuto  4 года назад +1

      It would be hard with a dead battery because the window would probably be all the way closed. Being able to move the window up and down as you go makes access to the bolts much easier. There are holes that line-up if you get the window in just the right place.

    • @shanemclean3986
