I’m one of those 2300 people who signed up for the Moment course and - can confirm - the course is 10000% worth it and packed with value. Thanks for all the years of free education and inspiration Jesse! Finally time to give back haha

I was definitely one of those people that dmed you on how to upload and you were real cool about it and I appreciate you taking the time and responding! This video encompasses everything I have tried to take away as a video creator from your journey on Instagram, can't wait to see how you'll continue to grow!

It's great to hear that a great filmmaker such as yourself also dealt with not wanting to be on camera. I really love your points of making things 'mundane' and 'rough', because I've been such a perfectionist that a lot of my ideas just get thrown out because I didn't film them the right way. Thank you for such inspiring words and advice, Jesse! Love from the west side of Canada :)
All of it is SO true! Especially the last point about getting too sucked in. I did RUclips for a year and had to stop as I was constantly thinking about life in terms of what I could use in my videos and it gets obsessive. Watching RUclips, that’s another rabbit hole!
Thanks Max! I'm actually bummed that my kicker was as strong as it was. I used the 300dii with the fresnel and put it as far away as I possibly could. I thought I was at 1% brightness but it ended up being set to 5% so I could have balanced it out a lil better!
I've just started doing daily stories, I decided to keep it short, 1 min max, and now I'm at day 26, sometimes is a really simple video, sometimes something more creative but I am really having a lot of fun creating something everyday, thanks for inspiring me and a lot of other people! your skating is so good bro, wish to see more on the channel ahaha
The complacency part is a massive trap for myself back then. I thought consistency trumps everything else, but complacency without improvements is what really kills off most creators.
I vividly remember the HP ad. It was smoothly cut, in the moment, genuine, had solid story, good sound... just perfect. Am glad I was able to experience your IG story days :D
Hi Jesse, I have been watching your videos for at least a year and half too, and I have to say I couldn't agree more, especially on the part of making it rough. I think that's why I stick with your channel because you are so fun, a real person, and we know you're pro, but you also are like everyone of us who is maybe good at something, and also not good at something too. I really appreciate what you have been posting for years, and I have learnt a lot. Thank you and have a nice year!
I was recommended by my friend who’s been following ur journey for years and now after seeing this, I can say you inspired me to want to get into content creation more seriously. I love how u said u gotta do it for u. And that helps with coping with the stress of crunching it down for sure.
Not just saying this... but this video is hands down the best ‘5 tips for better....’ video I’ve ever watched. Genuinely thought out & useful tips, and really perfectly presented!
This is a great video Jesse, I was one of the IG pages (@Kinguendo) that featured your work back in 2016. I think you're super talented and you really raised the bar on quality for IG stories. Glad to see you've enjoyed continued success 😎
Been around for ages now - since that 1st introduction on peter mckinnons channel. Now that you're going full-time on youtube its even better! Love the content and your personality 🙌🏻
You inspired so many people creating good content in a vertical format, even though it was “against the rules”. Keep it up on RUclips and don’t forget to enjoy your off-line life from time to time. All the best!!
"pay for the person's food on the drive thru behind me" I've never done that before, interesting 🤔 . Just thinking about gives me joy. I have to try it. Thanks for example JD 🙏🏼.
My first 2021 video that I watched from the beginning to the end. I already knew these tips/advice but it was a great refresher for this Year. Thanks Jesse
dude, the day peter put you in that ig video i was like "I HAVE TO FOLLOW THIS GUY, THIS IS AMAZING" and i never went back. Love the fact that you always responde when i send you dms about videos or cameras :'D
Jesse, you are my inspiration for everything I do (on the creating side of life) being here from day one. Thanks so much for your lessons, your content, your entertainment. Stay safe.
I total get you ... sometimes we just need to take a break... for sure I always admire your work last time when ig stories was a thing last time your style is the most unique for me back in the day ... but I Glad to see you filming youtube again. I still learn a lot from you especially your in camera transitions really appreciate your sharing. Thanks a lot
Nice video - I like how you made each topic short and to the point - kept me engaged! What are you thoughts on Stories vs Reels? Should we be doing both or one more so than the other?
This video was amazing. My ADD is usually the worst and I’m a professional editor but I just watched all 19 mins and loved it. Thanks for the inspiration and the knowledge!
Ok, @ianmcCausland I figured it out! Jessie likes telling you stories without always having to tell you stories. He started the video with, something like, “Did you finally figure out that no one gives a sh** about your coffee boomerangs!” This is referencing his Instagram stories of coffee boomerangs (like the playforward and then backward short clips) Then Jessie dives into how we all, as the viewers, can benefit from making Instagram stories, if we understand the parameters and if we don’t, as Jesse infers throughout his points, then you may just quit too! It’s overalls. A Very positive way to say why he quit. Or more accurately specific tips to how you can know if you should quit too.
You should add “be likable” because you are super likable. I definitely learn a lot too, but mostly I enjoy this hanging out we do whenever you post something.
That was way helpful just cause I used to give up on RUclips periodically but after I keep making more videos I’m starting to see a very slow subtle gain in my following and also learning to not over analyze my videos is what I’ve had to learn definitely!
Always enjoy your humor Jesse. Fun intro! Totally agree with both points...do it better and be UNIQUE! Following what everyone else is doing doesn't necessarily get you noticed. Just wish I was a little more the 'creative' type. Working on it...👍👍👍
Man! So much value in this video! Is this a Masterclass or what? Dang! Appreciate sharing your experience with us! But I've got one question, do Instagram pay you for doing all these great content on Instagram?
Absolutely love your videos. So genuine, it almost feels like we’re friends (is that weird? 😅) Beside that, they’re incredibly useful. I’ve learned a lot from watching them. Thank you, Jesse! 👏🏻
your video's show me impressive skills, a long road ahead of me getting that far up the skill lader. but one question comes up. how is it possible you dont do at least 100k views per day. boggles my mind, you deserve more views.
I’m one of those 2300 people who signed up for the Moment course and - can confirm - the course is 10000% worth it and packed with value. Thanks for all the years of free education and inspiration Jesse! Finally time to give back haha

The quote that got me: "When you make more videos you make more mistakes, when you make more mistakes you learn how to solve those mistakes."
Dude you are a WINNER for being honest about only working at your comp to appear like a person who gets his work done. Wow. Respect for being real.
I was definitely one of those people that dmed you on how to upload and you were real cool about it and I appreciate you taking the time and responding! Thanks dude!
“There’s a life outside of content, and you’d be surprised just how quickly you can forget that”. Great message Jesse.
I started the video and thought...I’ll just watch a minute or 2. 19 minutes later I’m watching it again and sharing it. This was great.
This is the video you didn’t realize was going to be so valuable and then you’re like damn i should have paid more attention better watch it again.
It's great to hear that a great filmmaker such as yourself also dealt with not wanting to be on camera. I agree! Make mistakes and put your projects out there for the world to see! No one makes the perfect project in their first go.
the studio is the cleanest I have ever seen it
Oh no it’s so bad I pushed everything out of frame 😂
@@JesseDriftwood that’s what I like to hear 😄😄
How could someone possibly dislike you? You’re a giant bundle of energy and joy.
Jesse you are such a character. You come off like that friend we just hang out with
All of it is SO true! Especially the last point about getting too sucked in. I did RUclips for a year and had to stop as I was constantly thinking about life in terms of what I could use in my videos and it gets obsessive. Watching RUclips, that’s another rabbit hole!
I felt it when he said “filming your best friends Ollie down their first 5 stair” wow...so spot on
The preacher part at the end was dope.
On point. I Love your passion.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge to us, totally appreciated.
This was awesome Jesse, and I am starstruck by that dark and moody A-Roll set you had going on, man, that set is gorgeous!
Thanks Max! I'm actually bummed that my kicker was as strong as it was. I used the 300dii with the fresnel and put it as far away as I possibly could. I thought I was at 1% brightness but it ended up being set to 5% so I could have balanced it out a lil better!
As someone largely focused on TikTok right now, MANY of these tips apply heavily there. Felt like you were retelling my creation journey on TikTok.
I've just started doing daily stories, I decided to keep it short, 1 min max, and now I'm at day 26, sometimes is a really simple video, sometimes something more creative
but I am really having a lot of fun creating something everyday, thanks for inspiring me and a lot of other people! your skating is so good bro, wish to see more on the channel ahaha

Glad about this video from you. Gives me some little new inspirations for my next work. I'm grateful for this!
I vividly remember the HP ad. It was smoothly cut, in the moment, genuine, had solid story, good sound... just perfect. Am glad I was able to experience your IG story days :D

Love these studio (camera locked off) videos!
I was recommended by my friend who’s been following ur journey for years and now after seeing this, I can say you inspired me to want to get into content creation more seriously. I love how u said u gotta do it for u. And that helps with coping with the stress of crunching it down for sure.
Lots of RUclipsrs do videos like this, but this one is the best I've seen. I'm a big fan of Jesse's storytelling. Nice one.
cannot say enough how much i appreciate your content!
You are the GOAT of IG stories fam! Always a treat to watch

Your content is priceless. You inspire me. I’m so glad I discovered your channel.

You’re a good human Jesse. This was great and hit home on so many levels.
One of the first 20 min long videos I have watched completely on RUclips in a loooong time!

Appreciate you dude! 🤙
Hey Peter you are ------> awesome to man, love your channel you Swedish film guru you!!

Killer content and awesome format! Can’t wait to check out your moment course!
Superb Jesse... Really liked the part of Making it Humane and Enjoying the process😎🙌
I like the “limits” rule. A life outside of content. Sometimes we all need to hear that! Thank you!
I watched your moment lessons! I just make recipe tutorials but saw the preview on Moment site and signed up. Really enjoyed the course!

Bro!! The timing of this video is so perfect! I needed this one! 🙏🏽 thanks! Can’t wait to crush my IG stories again!
I was here before it got taken down 😝
You a real one!
Is that what happened?
@@Shalaco I somehow didn't notice a random clip covering half the ad read... oops!
Why would it be taken down?
Nice video - I like how you made each topic short and to the point - kept me engaged! What are you thoughts on Stories vs Reels? Should we be doing both or one more so than the other?
Thanks for the push Jesse! Took your moment course last year and did stories for a while. Amped to start again!
Thanks. I’m going to have to save and watch this again to absorb all the tips that apply to me. There is so much here.
i think this is the first time i’ve watched one of these ‘what i learnt’ videos and actually started some of the advice already.
“If you get hit by a pie...👍🏾 Slow motion!”
😂😂😂
Loved this! I really appreciate your genuineness and enthusiasm. Your videos area always enjoyable and valuable. Keep doin what you do, Jesse!
i really have no interest in ig stories and yet have been captivated by this video. excellent.
This video was amazing. My ADD is usually the worst and I’m a professional editor but I just watched all 19 mins and loved it. Thanks for the inspiration and the knowledge!
Your videos are gold Jesse! Thank you for all the useful information. Keep going!
Thumbnail is “why I quit” Is that just click bait? 😂
It only took me 19 minutes to realize that 🤣

You're an inspiration. Thank you for existing ❤️
Incredible video man. i've been wanting to get started doing stuff but so worried. this was super helpful!
Love the shirt color change with the background.

The most perfect monologues i've ever heard in a single video. Preach more like this!
✍️ Make mistakes.
✍️ Find characters.
✍️ Rough edges make it relatable.
Man! So much value in this video! Is this a Masterclass or what? Dang! Appreciate sharing your experience with us! But I've got one question, do Instagram pay you for doing all these great content on Instagram?

I love that even though our styles are completely different, I can still learn from you.
Thank you for this video! 🙏 A lot of this hit home for me with things I’ve been learning recently along my creative journey. Gotta keep at it!
is there a playlist for this How to Be a Regular Human Sometimes thing?
This is gold, I’m gonna take these tips and go all in on RUclips shorts!
