Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I had changed the rear brakes on my daughter's 2007 civic and the pedal was soft on the first push after all was done, I watched you vid and did your bleeding technique and it worked perfect!!!
Crimping the hose could be bad if it punctures a hole I like to use a zip tie. Awesome video this will help my mushy pedal go away after replacing the shoes hopefully
Some may laugh at all of his safety precautions, but when you’re doing this day in and out, brake dust will cause health issues. Not a bad idea to even wear a mask when doing brakes
Hi, this is a great video, now I can fix and change the wheel cylinder of my HONDA CIVIC, I have one question, should I need to start the engine when I push down the brake pedal to bleed the brake fluid out from the bleeder ? Thank you
I still have air after changing the cylinder even after i bleed the bleeder. Do i need to Bench Bleed the Master cylinder to remove the air on the brake system?
How tight for the bleeder screw? I often get new replacement Wheel Cylinders from various brands and sources, even Honda OE, that the bleeders leak when the brake pedal is depressed. The leak is very slow , but do seep.
if I am changing only one wheel cylinder can I just bleed that one and be done with this job ? i will be replacing a leaking wheel cylinder on a 1997 ford escort located on the driver rear soon
Did the 1991 Honda Accord wheel cylinders come with shims originally? I bought the aftermarket, and the shoes don't seem to be lining up with the push pins. I looked at what I'm guessing is the original cylinder, and it looks like there is some kind of epoxy or something close to it on both sides of the bleeder, on BOTH wheel cylinders. THOUGHTS?
Yeah just keep in mind if it's stuck like that there's two holes that you can put in some bolts in. I believe on the new Hondas it's a larger bolt 12x1.25
So I cant get to this one 10 mm bolt on the rear wheel cylinder for a 02 civic, I understand it's the same thing but I can't fit my 10 mm line wrench to get a better grip around the bolt and my regular 10 mm wrench just keeps slipping, I'm so frustrated
Your new Wheel Cylinders came with pins. I have to reuse my old pins. So I insert the pins and they only go in a half inch. So I use all my strength and still nothing. Floppy pins that are ready to fall out. This whole project is taking way way way to long.
OK notice your pins are in the Wheel Cylinder most of the way. My pins are just barely in. I don't see how it can work no way to push them in any farther. So show me what I need to know to do this.

Incredible video! Very easy to understand. I'm going back to this video when I replace a wheel cylinder on a 2017 Honda fit tomorrow.
Another great video. It could not have been any clearer than that. Thank you...

@@1AAuto If by any chance you can work on a Mazda 6 2014 and have the videos available, It will be highly appreciated.
great job, glad you mentioned using regular wrench when you can, working the nuts back and forth a bit before trying to go all the way

Entire half an hour I missed cos I was distracted by that lunch beard now I have to watch it again
Thanks for the great work on this. Nice desription and great video shots/quality
Good vid, but I am curious, in what state do they pull your rear drums off for an inspection sticker? They don't even do that in Massachusetts.
Hey, Honey get in here it's a Len episode 😁
Just have someone step on the brake pedal and hold or I just jam a pry bar between seat and pedal. It stops from any extra fluid coming out.
At 13:33, what specific type of tool are those red pliers/clips that help plug the open end of the brake line? I can't seem to find them.
Thanks sir. Great video.

Nice job
grate videi the only thing i do different is i like to use line wrenches when removing and installing wheel cylinders
Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com +JOE FORD DIY
good job
The service manual says to seal the back of the cylinder housing with some silicon sealant. Keeps moisture out I guess.
It does indeed.
What's the tool 🔧 size for valve opnen?
Please 🙏
Can I add the brake fluid when the car is COLD ??
Yes, you can. Thanks for watching! +Ruben Rivera

Is there any chance you can fit a 1/4 inch ratchet with a 10mm socket to take out the two bolts that hold the wheel cylinder ?
Don't you bleed this like any other brakes and hold the pedal down? How will you get the air out?
Was the drums even adjusted right?
if I am changing only one wheel cylinder can I just bleed that one and be done with this job ? i will be replacing a leaking wheel cylinder on a 1997 ford escort located on the driver rear soon
so when replacing my wheel cylinders I do not have to bleed the whole brake system just at the cylinders themselfs ?

8th gens use an M8 x 1.25. Dont even think the newer Civics (2012+) use drums anymore
Will I have to bleed the whole system? mine is leaking and I'll need to change
Ethanol for brake cleaning. Unless you like breathing poison. Put it in a spray bottle. You can buy it fairly cheap if you buy the right grade.
What is the thin, hard, black brake line called? Mine severed, as it twisted with the screw.
Couldnt you use a shop vac to grab a lot of that dust?

So what do you do if the brake line doesn’t come off and rounds
Nice video, only the part with brake fluid dripping all over the metal parts was unsettling. Brake fluid is highly corrosive.
Anyone know if this procedure is similar on the 2015+ civic with read drums?
propellant is the word
+Lydia Hubbell Thanks for the tip!
How much 1 pc?
What if my drum break cover won’t come off

what pins? im confused
Drum brakes and pressed in bearings should be illegal to manufacture
i just start with the bolts
bonk, bonk!! 😂
Great video thank you. Shouldn’t one also protect their lungs by using a mask ? Or not important?
Bonk it-!!!!!
you can wear a mask
