Very nice-- the true test in my view is when she sits on the water, then you know it's a boat---'WOODY'-- looks wonderful, congratulations. You have just begun the best part of life. Your own hole in the water. I lived on mine 11 years 4 seasons, built it in a corn field----No regrets and have met some of the finest people in the process. Named her the"Becky Thatcher" after Tom Sawyers GF. Some characters along the way thought it had to do with the Queen of England. People are so funny. So I just wanted to compliment you and wish you and your family wonderful memories and thanks for the videos, Den
congrates. you will not only have more storeys tell, but wonderfull memories of the project. an wonderfull acheivement by you and the family and freinds. Boating is a plesure that will give you lots of joy. From start to finnish. happy boating. Gerard.
I enjoyed the adventure. I feel so proud of you guys for building this boat. The smiles on all 3 video's says it all, that's why you do it. I pray you guys enjoy many adventures on the water, God bless you.
Very nice, I use to see small boats like these a lot in the early 60,s on lake Cumberland, dad would make a wood boat for fishing,, Thxs again for the videos and memories,, gb
G’day and greetings from Tasmania Australia that was a lovely series of videos detailing the build of Woody, you have all done a absolutely beautiful build and finish on her and she’s a credit to you. I really enjoyed the video of the build and the music you dubbed on it you didn’t need to explain you could follow the build easily, there was one thing that I thought you did very well was the conversation of the boat trailer to fit Woody on. Really terrific and a beautiful boat kind regards John Kinnane
Amazing job on the whole thing but especially the woodgrain look. It's very convincing on video for sure. Great boat. Looks like the perfect boat for its purpose
Great job guys! I really like her! I have to tell you that I completely refurbished a 1956 LoneStar. The first small full fiberglass production boat. I made the same mistake with the steering!!!
Was reassuring to what I've been wanting to build. But design my own plans for a barge style fishing weekend warrior camping boat. I was so worried about draft. Seeing yours would be about my size and weight I know the draft should only be about 8in as calculated and I feel better now as yours didn't hardly draft any either! Start modeling my plans this weekend!!! Gave me a good idea how to do a door. As I wanted the cabin as low as possible. Decks at each end up. Forgot about those style hatch doors! Double 5ft decks at each end. Cabin in middle. Maybe a small deck on top with collapsible railing. Reservoir queen. 😊 nice build!
Great job! And your improvements were spot on. I had one idea you might use if not your Tubes, Get an office chair with the pipe coming down and you can use it for a Captains chair, swivel and all. drill a hole and with reinforcements below just stick it in. Pop it out at night time and you have your bunks still.
I’m impressed. Nicely done young man. I can see some rail in the future, on the bow and stern. I may consider doing this in the future instead of renting.
@@red-hat-mike Not really... We only worked on weekends and days off work. Then there was the usual delays like cold weather and such. I think a person could build this boat in a few months full time, but building it half the fun...
great story about the steering - a very easy mistake to make. the guy that i work for picked up his boat from a professional yard and , after he launched it, discovered that they had done made the same mistake! nice job - my wife is particularly impressed.. wait a minute, isn't that how you got started with this project? :) jt
I really do not know the speed. It is not a fast boat, but it moves along fairly rapidly. Even with 9 adults aboard. The original design only has a 9.5 engine. Since ours is 4 feet longer we went to 15 HP. Here is the good part though. It has a 12-gal fuel tank. We can spend the day cruising the waterways without refilling the tank. I have one more video that shows the boat moving in the water. I will try to publish that soon.
Backyard Boatbuilders Thank you for your quick reply. The boat isn’t about speed but I was wondering if it exceeded 6 miles an hour with a 15 hp motor. Have you found the extra three feet to be worth the effort? I’ve viewed your three videos multiple times as I try to decide whether to build a 17 footer or go to 20 foot. Roy Schreyer’s 2 foot slight chine on the hull intrigues me and I haven’t seen that on any other barges or johnboats. The simplicity of this design and the gypsy wagon look of the housing appeals me.
ia this a full wood hall? looking to build a tiny house boat . best I have seen yet is the long boats ,the life boats and a boat a man named Simon is currently living in catamaran he bought in Canada.
lee the wood work is the hard part, I used to work in a boat repair shop, the fiber glass is easy! the rest is trial & error! ( that's the fun part) LoL
@WATER-MAN I have his plans for a Thorn but not the need talent to build it. I love his designs. He was easy to approach and I had some problems downloading his plans. He helped me get the the job completed. I can't say enough good things about him.
@WATER-MAN The skylights you put in I thought was a real value add too. Thanks for the talk up. I'll pull my Thorn plans out and look them over again. You'll see a video right here on RUclips if I get her to float.

Excellent craftsmanship, right down to the stools that can be slid underneath eachother to save space.
Very roomy and bright in the cabin. Good work!

Fabulous job! Great fun coming along for the build! Thanks!
Beautiful build. Very creative solutions for eliminating brightwork maintenance.

She turned out beautifully Sandi and Lee! Mind me asking how long the build took? Best/Roy
Hello Roy and thank you for this design. We only worked on the boat a few hours each week. I will get a figure for you. It is a great design.

Thank you very much!
Very nice, and your video log is most helpful. Where did the extra three feet end up, cabin, foredeck, afterdeck or some combination?
Love it!!! Nice job!!!
Seem like aircraft woods might be a better choice for weight.
awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!
Dynamite job!
Beatifull work in the family

What is your cruising speed of this 20 footer with a 15 hp motor? I really like the opening front hatch enable one to get in and out easier

Great job on the build! I am wondering what engine you are using and the gallon per hour fuel used at hull speed ?
15 hp... Do not know gallons per hour but a 12 gallon tank ran all day.
Nice build. Is that Roy's Dianne rose extended version? Roys a good friend of ours. Cheers
It is the regular boat plans. We just extended it ourselves.
Very impressive.

No... 1/4 inch Plexiglass

Awsome jurney together ❤❤😊
Can this hull be built without the bulkheads?
The plans are built around the bulkheads. It would be hard to do.
Мне очень понравилось.
Wow, that is a beauty of a houseboat she have a name yet??????
Since we called her the wooden boat, we named it 'Woody'
What does something like this cost to build?
I do not remember, but it was paid for when complete. We just bought a little materials at a time.
I plan to get a houseboat.
bravo
