THIS IS THE VIDEO I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR! I've never skated before, have just done two sessions and the wall is my best friend xD I want to be able to skate competently by the time the Christmas rinks close at the end of February! Thank you so much for this video x
I went skating outdoors for the first time today (Wollman is so beautiful in the sun!) and omg you have to work so much harder to get any kind of speed. It's something I struggle with even on freshly surfaced indoor rinks so if you have any tips for improving power without, like, panicking (and then leaning backwards into my heel and falling, hypothetically,,,) I would love that.
@@joy5911 hi! Power in skating comes from many places and one of them is posture- if your upper body is too forwards then you end up skating on your toe picks which kills your speed and flow, then other is about how good of a push you can get- think about really bending your ankles not just your knees to really get a deep push without bending your upper body forwards- hope that helps! It takes time but just trust the process that you will get there! 💪🏼
Learning how to fall is so important because I remember when I first fell I fell backwards on my tail bone and I was hurting for days 😭😭
yessss so key to make sure you don't get badly hurt while in the process of learning!
