Yeah, I feel you when it comes to getting up early in the morning when it's still dark for skating. I haven't been able to stretch before my private lessons recently because I either just rushed to the rink from work or after teaching kids how to skate. I have to get up early now one day on the weekend because I'm teaching Learn to Skate lessons at the rink where my sister and I first learned to skate many years ago. I was inspired by my private coach and how kind of a coach she is, so I'm glad I found a place where I can gain experience coaching skating. I do have to agree with you that working in corporate (I do too) and being an athlete is a tough one and you don't get to spend many nights in. Good luck with the new program by the way! I'm competing next month for the first time in 5 years!
As an ex professional figure skater. When you are planning on quitting competitive to start a family. Slowwwww dowwwn YEARS prior or you will shock your body and have a ton of issues. It happened to me and every single of of my friends that also skated professionally.
DWTS has been a fun side escape for me too! I end up just watching the Tiktoks of the dances, but I've found such an idol is Ilona Maher and it helps me through a lot of stuff.
I cant. 6 am is too early for me. I know that once i finish my basics and start freestyle classes i will have to drag myself out the bed but right now, not happening. Also, OMG, Kaitlyn.
You got this!! I know 6 AM sounds like not a very pleasant thing but I think once you start becoming consistent, your body circadian rhythm adapts and it becomes easier and easier to be an early riser!
Hello , i am 21 and i want to start figure skating . I did 5 years of rollerblade and i know how to stop, glide on one feet, swizzle forward and backward slowly. Is it a realistic goal in my situation to do an axel jump in less than a year if i do two/ three ice skating session per week and 3 off ice session? Do you think it is possible for me to do intermidiate level competition further down the line? Or learn more difficult jumps? Thank you for your time 😊
Hi! More than happy to answer your question above! I think the amount you can achieve really varies from athlete to athlete! I think you can definitely compete in an intermediate level competition down the line and learn more difficult jumps if you keep practicing consistently! On the axel jump, I would say it really depends. For me personally, I practice around 4X a week, 2 sessions at a time on ice and I am still working on my axel after 5 years! It really depends- hope this helps!
You've tried 30 days of many things... after this competition season is over, why not try training 30 days of figures? It is safe but challenging, it would help strengthen your body and prepare you for other figure skating elements, it would give your hip flexors time to heal, and it would make a GREAT material for your vlog! Can you do the Maltese cross after 30 days? There's only one way to find out... ruclips.net/video/JL6iGXXX72M/видео.html There are coaches and resources available if you want to try this challenge. Enjoy lifelong figure skating!
Good luck with your recovery and thank you for sharing your skating path ! 🌻
Thank you so much!! ❤
