I took some long torx screws and cut the heads off and use them as guides just like when mounting wheels with bolt aligners. The video is great, covers a very important aspect of laying flat the rubber seal. Having the long crews makes it so much easier to guide in place, eliminates the guess work. VW did revisions of rear main seals, now it is like a dual o-ring and much beefier rubber, not like the first ones that was a simple thin lip. The other reason they leak, is not because they are bad, the pcv system goes bad, excessive pressure in the engine, blows up the seal. I check my pcv every other oil change.

I did this job and forgot to put adhesive on the seal…. Now I need to re take everything apart .. yikes.
Note : did this job 4x times . Am now a pro and you do not need adhesive for this job . At least for the 06-08 mk5’s
I just had this done under warranty but as things turn out I think that this joker is leaking again!!! SMH
What would it cause to leak again ?
