I'm on my third plastic water pump... napa lifetime warranty, but they've discontinued the plastic ones. I promised myself to get a metal one the next time it starts leaking but they don't have any available. The timing cover leak is a huge pain in the ass! Finally got that fixed this week
"hope it's coming across clear for you guys" BRUH. THIS VIDEO IS THE CLEAREST OF ALL. All other videos look like the guy is working with 1.5arms, 1 thumb, and half a brain. great work btw!
Thanks nice video, so is that inner seal pre-greased? Also what did you use to press it in? That would be good to see, although seems like this should be sold with the seal already pressed in.
Eric Michel The method I’ve found that works best is to lightly press the seal into the RMS housing. Then flip it over (seal down) and use a rubber mallet with a piece of 2x4 (to protect part) pressing it into the housing as evenly as possible. You’ll want to rotate the wood around so it goes in straight.
Thank you for video! I have the same issue. Both pump and rear main seal need to be replaced because both are leaking. How do you like your torque wrench?
Hi Jose, all my parts were ordered from urotuning.com! The rear main seal kit can be found here: www.urotuning.com/products/crankshaft-seal-with-billet-upgraded-sealing-flange-rear-main-2-0t-tsi-06h103171f-billet?variant=8392228634679&Google%20Shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI96eKtMX76wIVXB6tBh0H8A9-EAQYByABEgLUFPD_BwE
Thanks for these videos. I just bought a MK6 as a fun daily while I keep working on my 135i that I have on my channel. Quick question, the plate that the rear main sits in, is that OEM or some kind of aftermarket kit? Just wondering because you were talking about how the bolts were special for the “kit”. Thanks.
Hi Taylor, this is an aftermarket kit to replace the weak factory rear main seal. The kit can be found here: www.urotuning.com/products/crankshaft-seal-with-billet-upgraded-sealing-flange-rear-main-2-0t-tsi-06h103171f-billet?variant=8392228634679&Google%20Shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI96eKtMX76wIVXB6tBh0H8A9-EAQYByABEgLUFPD_BwE

Very informative and thorough. Thank you.
I was told there was this a special alignment tool when putting that seal on so that there would not be any future leaks
I think that's for the OEM part.
Thank you! Great video
