I bought my ZZ plant at the grocery store in January...it’s been sitting on the end table in my Den, under my regular-light lamp, and now has 9 new babies(?) coming up...so excited. It has to be the easiest plant I’ve ever grown....

Just repotted my own 15 years old ZZ plant monster. Remembered your episode of splitting your friends one Summer, it was fun to watch, but I was putting away tackling the job. Gave away some of it to 5 of my friends and still have 4 pots of it left all around the house. Some started growing already. I will never be without a ZZ plant in my home.
I planned to repot my ZZ plant yesterday- and I found and watched your repotting video, and did everything as it was shown there. And today this one came to my RUclips. Love it - everything is so helpful! Thank you, Summer! ❤
this vid is deceptively super helpful!! I feel like I learned a lot more seeing SRO in action talking about that ZZ's history, the way it moved, chatting about its history, growing location etc. with Tara, and then working on Saunders's with the soil, fungi, scale, etc. sooo good!

About the ZZ Plant, these are rrly prolific, here in our area (Philippines) ppl have issues or myths about it. I know for a reason that they are toxic, but some reads it too far saying once it flowers the blooms can cause cancer. Iknow this is absurd and funny, but this is happening, thus creating a chain of havoc. It just goes to show that little knowledge can be lethal **tryna make puns**. I hope in your future vids Summer u can do myths and misconceptions about houseplants! I enjoyed this light type of vids, the interactions, what a versatile channel u have. im roooting for u! 💛
That's a good recommendation, so thank you for that. It's strange to hear of the disposal of ZZs, especially because it has traditionally been used as a medicinal and there is even research happening around its effects against some cancer cells!
Yes, that's true in the Philippines. Some people even say that the plant emit toxins in air, in short they're poisonous especially when they're flowering, the reason why they were thrown away. However, I have two zz plants here (I saved the other one from my neighbor because they want to dispose it) I wonder why I'm still ok.
My sister has this one kalanchoe growing in a 1 inch ceramic pot and it has so many little branches and it is very tall. She keeps it in her windowsill above her sink and waters it, and she's had it for like a few years. It's her only houseplant and I'm so impressed by it.
I was always curious about your camera person and I was surprised when he started interacting with you! 😂 and also wondered if he’s a plant person too. Hope you can do an interview!

ZZ is one of my favs ... have also re-potted and given out to friends/neighbors ... just keep it out of any direct light if you put it outdoors ... so beautiful
It’s so nice to watch ZZ plant receive so much love and care. In my country, Taiwan, ZZ plant is usually used as a gift to celebrate store-opening or promotion. So it tends to be left in the corner of someone’s office. Or it is used as a block to stop people from parking their scooters in front of their stores. Dusty, unloved is the image when I think of it. But, it is a pretty plant as long as you give it love. I learn a lot from your video. Thanks! 😃
Loved this episode of you visiting others and helping to care for their plants and give advice. So much fun to watch. Hope you continue to do these types of videos!
I actually just rewatched the zz plant repot video again the other day. Theres something so magical about that plant. What a wild story about the plant responding to the trauma of being cut!
That was really a heartwarming story. Thanks for sharing and happy growing. I think I'll add zz to my collection, outside in the newly (still in progress), updated decompression area.

Thank you always for your content. My ZZ plant was growing indoors by a window. Had put her outside during house cleaning and caught a draft. Some of the leaves went brown. How can I help her
Brown typically means the leaves are done for. So I would cut those bits off with a clean knife. They are really resilient, so provided the roots and tubers are healthy, it will likely regenerate.

my newly propagated zz does this too! My way of propagating it is having two leaves on every section of my zz cutting. It has 2 leaves initially, too but as it matures, the 2 leaf shoot slowly dies off and a new shoot appears. the newer shoots will have more leaves as the potato-like root structure gets bigger as it stores more nutrients. and yea, ZZs don't grow new leaves on an already fully unfurled shoot!
