My "gym" is basically a bench press, some sets of dumbbells, a pull-ups bar and a folding static bicycle. Area covered 1 to 1,5 square meters. Total cost near 500 euros. In quarantine times proved gold.
Definitely one of the nicest home gyms I've seen so far. I'm in the very beginning stages of my home gym journey. Right now researching and pricing all the types of equipment I want to have. The design aspect of what you did is very similar to what I'd like to have mine look like so it was good I found this video.
One of the best home gym tours and inspiration I’ve seen in a while man and I’ve seen them all! Every day searching for new home/garage gym tour videos. This was nothing short of amazing. Love the explanations of everything and just thoughtfulness throughout I really appreciated it! You sure got yourself a gem. How much did it all cost? Maybe a video or blog posts with totals?
Thanks for the like and comment. We appreciate it. I linked a couple blogs about the gym and DIY Icebath. You're right though I haven't revealed the true cost. It wasn't cheap, but we did do everything we could to cut costs, find deals, and do it ourselves if we could. I might do an update with the actual cost associated with it all, because we're not done yet, lol.
The insulation and fans help a lot. An a/c unit is something we are thinking about for next summer. But yes sometimes just keeping the door open the house A/C works well.
That is a clean looking gym. Nice work. Building mine now, and what's surprised me the most is how much my kids wanna get in on the action. My 5yo daughter and 11 yo son can't be in there enough. My son has started working out with me. My daughter just wants to play in the gym while I'm working out. I hope this instills an element of fitness in them forever.
Look into wall-mounted lifting racks that can fold up out of the way. Something like this, bit.ly/3aOF6NK will really save space. Wall mount as much as you can to save floor space and look for cardio equipment that can store vertically out of the way like rowers and some treadmills.
I moved to the USA from Europe and it was great/interesting to see that actually no one parks their car inside in the garage. I saw pubs, movie theaters here in the US, when they opened up the door. great use of space.
Thank you!! I know I didn’t even talk about it but that was actually Mylar film stretched over a sheet of plywood. We didn’t want the possibility of a broken mirror with little ones. I framed it in on the wall myself to hold it up with some painted wood trim. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment
This video was awesome.. gave me ideas how I want to set mine up.. man be awesome to have to customize mine like that or similar.. great video keep up the good work
Your shelving above your storage cabinets are they stable that high, without any shelving on the bottom? Or are they somehow mounted on the floor or wall?
Just a utility knife. Use a straight edge to score and then make multiple passes with the knife. A little pressure is needed but will get the job done.
What a great gym, man! Well done! A massive inspiration for me. I have 365 squarefoot at my disposal and up to now I was not sure if it will work to create a cool atmosphere! Now I am sure! Thanks a lot! Greatings from Germany!
I scored a ProMaxima PL-360 in the same gray black color scheme you have for $550. It’s been the best rack I have ever used. I had never heard of ProMaxima before that. They make some serious equipment....the rig you have is awesome. Might have to look into it for my gym haha. Great set up you have there!
I also live in Vegas is there any specific place you went to get the installation from and what exactly did you do to the garage to convert it into a more stable environment? Was there's any videos you can recommendon how to do it.
Ditto to this question, the Vegas heat is too intense. And I think what he meant to ask about was where you got the “insulation” from. I would assume Lowe’s as well??? I recently got some mini swamp coolers to see if that can alleviate the heat from our long summers
Brilliant well thought out set up Making great use of the space there, love the multiple attachment options that rig rack gives you. Having a stairmaster is sweet as too
The bike setup is a Wahoo Kickr Smart Trainer (bit.ly/3ckkcHa) Works great with trainer apps like Zwift. Any road/tt bike will work. I have a Scott Foil 30 road bike.
We installed ours (9) about a week ago and the smell is brutal, it seems to be fading though..we were installing mirror today with door open and it's getting better..
This was a difficult one. We ended up finding ours on OfferUp. I would search FB Market Place, OfferUp, etc for deals and most importantly leftover scraps. If you only plan to do a small strip or area, some leftovers could be big cost savings. We live in a very big artificial turf area as well here in Vegas. Maybe try sports arenas, gyms, anyone who might have recently put some in and you might find what you need dirt cheap.
That's something I forgot to go over. It is actually a mylar type film stretched over 4x8 plywood. We picked it up from a closing gym as well. I made a simple 1x3 wood frame (painted black) to hold it up. Super safe with the kids since it's not a breakable glass/mirror.
I forgot to go over them. They’re actually a film stretched over 4x8 plywood like a vinyl wrap. That way we can have floor to ceiling mirrors with no issues of breaking around the kids.
Dr Todd Sullivan thank you. Keter cabinets available at Lowe’s and online. Light bar is Lithonia shop light also at Lowe’s. Check out the blog on “7 Steps to a Perfect Home Gym” it has links and more info.
I can see the gym was well thought through! We have the same type setup, cardio and strength side. Love being able to walk in there any time of the day. Quick question: I couldn’t make out what you used for the insulation? That’s prob the only thing we are lacking. Oh, and we do want to add can lighting. Thanks in advance for answering.
Hey, thanks for the comment. I used 3/4 or 1” polystyrene insulation board. Can find at any Home Depot or Lowe’s. Comes standard 4x8’ and cuts easily with a carpenters knife. I Used a construction adhesive to mount it to the garage door. You can do a 2 car garage for less than $50.
@@KevinArmentrout excellent Kevin!!! Thanks so much!! I hope it provides a little more cool and heat then previous. Even a few degrees changes everything.
Thank you. There was a noticeable difference in just the overall feel. It reduced outside noise, felt like the wind didn't rattle the door as much, etc. As far as temperature goes, this will be the first Vegas summer we will experience since the gym was completed, so we will see how it holds up to +100 degree temps. I did notice a difference in how quickly we can heat the garage up with a space heater in the past few months. We also have the door closing right on the edge of the flooring and turf creating a tight seal on the floor, so no draft in or out (or bugs and dirt). The insulation was only about $40 total so worth it, in my opinion.
Check out the blog in the description for "7 Steps to a Perfect Home Gym", there are some good tips. To answer your question though, I think FaceBook marketplace is the number one go-to source. All the gyms we found closing were listing their items there.
How does the treadmill hold up in the heat/cold? Does the insulation on the garage door really help? Curious because I’m about to add one to my pain cave .
I’m the wife! And the treadmill is my baby so I’ll chime in. :) The treadmill does really well. I use it daily in both cold and hot environment. And I’d say the insulation does help but it’s not enough by any means especially living in Las Vegas. We’re currently looking into getting A/C. In the meantime I just do cardio with garage door open to allow some sort of breeze while I do cardio in the summer.
We're starting to prepare for a move to Texas. We will either sell, include with the sale of our home, or take it with us. If you're interested in a full gym package let me know.
Probably the best home gym I've seen
Thanks man, I appreciate it.

this setup was done before covid lol this is awesome setup given the timing

Cool gym. Wood on wall looks great.
How do you keep the gym cool in the summer? Do you have an AC unit or do you keep the door going to the house open with AC on?

Yup you guys nailed it 👌🏼

Pretty cool gym. I'm a triathlete myself so I like what you did there dividing into the cardio and the strength.
Incredible. Nice work man
Thank you for posting. I liked the wall mounted cable machine
This is the one we have: amzn.to/2Vgbd2i , but it's currently unavailable but maybe this can help you find something similar.
We found ours on Facebook Marketplace

That is the best part! Our girls have been in and around gyms with us from the day they were born. Fitness should be a family affair! Awesome to hear.
One of the best home gyms I’ve seen in a while. I hit the like button as soon as I saw it. It is as good as Vince Delmonte’s
Thank you, I really appreciate the comment.
The best garage gym thus far!!
You did a great job with maximizing your space, huge pat on your back for putting it all together.
Thank you! A lot of planning and hunting for items but well worth it.
Awesome video thanks for posting
Great gym, I am looking to do something similar when we move. Semper Fi also I got out from Quantico in 2010
Sorry I missed this, thank you and Semper Fi brother. 98-07
Love the endurance focus and everything you need for strength. So Awesome.
Best home gym I've sin that
Love the gym!! I have a home gym too but it’s only a 1 car garage so def have to fit everything into a smaller space.

Do you have a link for the shelves? they look really nice
This home gym is amazing!!!! Goals!!!!
Love the setup. What's the square footage of the garage? I'm think of doing something similar.
the garage measures 20x22 with the back wall dedicated to "garage" stuff, we have about 400 sq ft of gym space.

Great home gym! Especially these days when all commercial gyms are still closed. Enjoy it bro! 💪🏋😀
Great video. What are the step up attachments on your rack called that you have for pull-ups? Or can you let me know where you bought them? Thanks!
Awesome job bro. Looks great! Did you have any issue with the smell from the horse stall mats? I've seen videos where people say they smell.
Garage size of my whole house
Nice setup. You were lucky to get kit from commercial gyms too.

Now that is one hell of a garage gym!! I have a 7.2x13ft space hopefully it will be enough for my plans 😬

Just standard tv wall mounts from lowes and a floating shelf.

How long is ur turf and can u do sleds therw or is it not enough space?
Awesome gym! Does your floor slant at all?
Where did you get the idea for the wood wall? And is there an instructional video on it?? its dope!

How did you get the smell out of the horse stall mats? Does it fade over time?
We never really had a strong smell with them. I don't know if being outside in the Vegas heat (where we bought them) helped or not.

Sorry for the late reply. It was more like an accent wall and to separate the space.
Awesome space!

Love it

Sweet settup, I like the shelving for kettle bells/ medicine balls. What’s the dimensions of the gym?
20x22ft With the back wall storage it makes the gym 20x20

Can you post a link to the gymnastic setup where to purchase. My daughter is getting into it a lot. Currently she just swings on my rings.

dcsworld1 sorry I missed this one. The turf is directly on the floor so we have an even surface straight across
So dope man!
Did you add ac or heating?
Looking to add A/C this summer a small portable unit. We used a small space heater in the winter and heated up the whole gym pretty quickly
