"It's not my dog". My favorite is when he's interviewing people at the mansion, gets his hand stuck in an armor glove with a mace ball attached. The ball ends up in the fireplace. When his hand gets hot enough, he swings to get the glove off, the ball smashes into the piano causing it to fall apart. The lady of the mansion says, "That's a priceless Steinway!" Clouseau looks at the remains of the piano an replies, "Not any more".
Clouseau: How can a blind man be a lookout? Dreyfus: How can an idiot be a policeman? Answer me that! Clouseau: It's very simple, all he has to do is enlist... Dreyfus: SHUT UP!!! LOL!!!

“He lives with me, but he is not my monkey! One day, I came home and I found him sitting in the living room. I let him stay, but he pays for his own room and board!” 🤣🤣🤣
Can only wonder what it was like working with Sellers. He seems so innocent, so unlikely to startle, until he opened his mouth and quietly floored you.
...the beggar was the lookout man for the gang...that is impossible...why?... he was blind...how can a blindman be a lookout?...oh,oh..I'm on the floor again from laughing!
I mean you could say that of any reboot. Its always difficult for any actor to step into the shoes of an established character. Look how many Spider-man reboots there have been. Or James Bond's numerous actors. I like Brosnan and all and it took a while for craig to win me over. But no one is a match for sean connery. Or look at the remake of true grit. A lot of people like the remake well enough, but it isn't John Wayne. Maybe that is more of an indictment of Hollywood that they keep going back to the well with reboots instead of original stuff. Steve Martin is talented, but he isnt Clouseau. I would say there are some things the Martin reboots did well though. Clouseau calling Cato his little yellow friend wouldn't really fly today. Especially in light of recent events. So they play off of this with Miss Berenger played by Lilly Tomlin. They also reverse the gag where Clouseau is attacked. The problem is that they keep recylcing the same gags. I watched a video series on youtube called legacy of the pink panther. It's well worth a watch. Some great points are made for and against the Martin Pink Panther films.
Well, I don't know of any American who loved Steve Martin's performance, unless he or she was one of the pathetic few who had never seen the original Sellers.
Peter Sellers at some of his best comedy but Kubrick actually wanted Selllers to play FOUR Parts (Slim Pickens' part) in "Dr. Strangelove". That's how talented he was.
Best line of all - How can a blind man be a lookout - How can an idiot be a Policeman answer me that. Brilliant,
😂😂😂😂 I've seen this for decades and it cracks me up every time!
How can an idiot be elected to political office? Very simple, all he has to do is lie.
Clouseau's' sense of dignity makes these scenes. The writing is so good it would work with other actors, but Sellers takes it to another level.

I can watch time after time on a loop and never stop laughing. Comedy like this does not exist any longer. He is the one and only. Peter Sellers
Herbert Lom makes this movie (all the ones he was in.) He was such a foil for "Clouseau."
Clouseau is needed now more than ever. They should be run constantly on tv.
Sacha Baron Cohen is still young enough
Thinking this same thing 😊 we need the laughs😂😂
Yes
No
If only to piss off the french. I agree.
Herbert Lom and Peter Sellers are memorable here in this hilarious movie 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💗💗💗💗
The way he tips his night stick into his eye at the beginning is so subtle and brilliant. Many people miss that quick slapstick piece. Love you Peter!
Yes it’s superb 😎
It doesn't get any funnier than this classic scene. Always brings tears to my eyes.

One of Herbert Lom's Best scenes,RIP Herbert! x
An excellent comedy actor, Herbert Lom. He and Sellers both appeared in the Ealing comedy The Ladykillers in 1955, so they went back a long way.
