Great information on chop marks, I learned something and now I know what they look like. Thanks my friend and Congratulations to Travis, have a wonderful day! 👋👏👍😎
Another great, informative, and entertaining vid, AS! Those chop marks do make those "old world" coins more alluring. Your coin collection variety is just unreal. Meteorites, old world coins, shipwreck silver, inherited pesos and US constitutionals, you name it, AS has it. Very impressive, well done!
It is fascinating how the Mexican 8 Real silver coins were a world standard for some time. Your coin with chop marks looks beautiful. Great addition to your collection. Good luck obtaining more.

That was really intriguing! I had never hear about 'Chop Marks' before. How many times have we looked at and old coin and just wondered where it may have traveled and who might have handled it in its life. This is cool, these marks actually bear witness and display its movements in history! That was awesome, thanks for sharing!!!🤘🤙

Great vid and great info! Thanks for sharing. Love the chopmarks! There are only 2 known sources (books) from the schroffs that are known- one is in a private collection and the other is in the museum in London. I would love to see those books!

It's almost impossible to know where a coin has been in the past. Through the chop marks, you know that coin was in Asia! Great video! 👍👍

Hi Aloha! That big honking nose is a clear giveaway. Chop marks add to the history. If that coin could talk, wouldn't that be interesting. Have you ever wondered what the world would be like today if Spain hadn't lost so many treasure galleons? You've got me thinking about collecting old foreign silver. Maybe Japanese. Would definitely be challenging.
Great video. Pillar coins are awesome but I knew nothing about chop marks. I can see them being collectible, but also see the point about it hard to determine when they were made. I have seen several "Brothel" Tokens (US Large Cents altered) that have been done in more modern times. People take common date, damaged or worn large cents that would be worth $5-$15 and alter them to look like brothel tokens from the 1800's and sell them for two or three times as much. Since it is basically damage and none are exactly the same, ones that are well done are hard to tell if they are period piece or more modern forgeries. So have to be careful collecting and shelling out extra money for altered historical coins. Hope that makes sense, just got off work and kind of tried. LOL
@@AlohaStacker Weirdly I haven't seen any on French Indochina Piastres. But then I picked them up in Vietnam where they were legal currency. Seen a few on British Trade dollars in the UAE but didn't pick them up as I was desperately trying to flee the place.
