Fun fact: Hadrian actually had a beard, but the beard is missing on quite a few of his denarii because silver is a soft metal, and all the handling and rubbing against other coins in people's coin purses gradually wore some of the details down throughout the centuries. On this particular denarius, you can see vague remnants of the beard if you look closely at the area where the upper neck meets the jawline.

What is a chop mark? Are you a chop mark? Am I a chop mark? Are there any chop marks in the room right now?

As a collector i do consider chopmarked coins damaged but it doesn't matter. If one likes to collect them than that is wonderful.

Mine has two chop marks but one of them I can’t really tell what it is. Is there some sort of website that shows you what each one means? I know there’s a book out there, but I don’t want to buy the book since I only have one of those coins 🪙

Guy has the biggest nose on any coin! I just bought one and it has little to no facial features but his nose stand out like hell!

Great vid and great info! Thanks for sharing. Love the chopmarks! There are only 2 known sources (books) from the schroffs that are known- one is in a private collection and the other is in the museum in London. I would love to see those books!

I've been stacking since January. I've acquired around $16000 worth under my belt. Mexican silver is my jam!!! I have a bunch of Aztec rounds so I went for a bunch of 47-48 Cinco pesos, I have quite a few libertads and a bunch of other silver from Mexico. My oldest is 1780 I think. I am thinking about trading a bunch of silver for a gold 50 pesos but I don't want a restrike... fingers crossed ..I have a couple 1/10 oz age but nothing in a full oz and I want this count to be my first ..hifive

I've done 58+ transactions now with Goldbacks. I was in New Mexico on business (7/10-14). Currently not a Goldback issued state and I sold and traded all 27 of the One-Goldbacks I had. Wherever you are and someone is willing to trade you for your Goldback you are good to go.

I'm new and just discovered you. Aloha! I recently acquired the 1968 Mexican 25 Pesos coin commemorating the Mexico City Olymics. I was vissitingMexico City in 1970 and saw some of the facilities they had built. Because I like chunky silver coins I asked my LCS and got the 1 Onza and 5 Canadian silver dollars. I really wanted the one with the goose because I had been in Montreal for Expo 67.

Having a Spanish gold coin is like having a piece of history. I think they will be very successful, especially the North American public, since they know how to value the good.
