If anyone said back in July we’d finish 3rd and clinch UCL next season, win a trophy after last season we had, I would have bitten their hand off for it. It’s been a good season for us with so many injuries. I’m happy with it.
Same as Arsenal last season but then everyone called them bottlers when they didn't win the league.. go figure
Tbf lad, after the season Liverpool had last year. No one even expected us to be in top 4, let alone a title race and that’s facts. Most fans dreamed because we were still there with a few weeks to go but we rode our luck on too many occasions. Realistically we all know they shouldn’t have been anywhere near a title race this season. Getting UCL football was the main priority for us after what happened last season. Your team has been at it with city the past two seasons now. You can’t say Liverpool are bottlers because we actually took it to a extremely strong city side and managed to actually win it. No other team has managed it in so many years. Your team went through a rebuild and are onto a good thing with the quality you have. We only started rebuilding last summer, so for that fact alone we have over achieved this season.
@@Wiiggz Yeh, completely agree. Don't get me wrong, definitely wasn't calling Liverpool bottlers. Just saying how the coverage of Liverpool falling away this season vs Arsenal last season has been so different. Arsenal went from 5th to 2nd too last season. Will be really interesting to see how Liverpool deal with Klopp leaving.
@@SueMyChin tbf mate, I hope you go on to win it! Even now city aren’t at their peak they still somehow pull it out of the bag and it’s frustrating. We’ve experienced it on many occasions. I think the media outlets just say what they want people to hear. Taking it toe to toe with a team like that is nothing to be put down for. Most teams dream of being in a position like arsenals right now. So many bitter fans from all fan bases about. Good luck on the last few games, it would be extremely harsh for you to lose it. If you don’t though, it’s how you respond next season that will tell you the true spirit of that good arsenal team 👍🏻
He is right, Liverpool are 3rd best in the league just behind Man City and Arsenal.
Nobody expected a title race in this season. They fell short because they lacked consistency and had to win so many games from a losing position
but you cannot keep doing that all the season especially with the poor finishing that pops up many times.
Klopp's average position in the League has been 3rd over 9 seasons with 1 Title win in 2020.
He has taken Liverpool back into the conversation for titles but fell short of the perfectionist Pep.
Agree but if Jota was fit and they had a more prolific striker than Darwin this would have been close. Salah still good but I would have taken the oil money this summer and reinvested in upcoming, super quality.

No one expected Liverpool to be in top 3 back in July. The fact they won carabao cup and clinched champions league is good season. They were overachieving most of season with injured squad and new players. Ran out of steam with small squad at end
Never should have been in a title race with 5 games to go, total midfield overhaul and mass defensive injuries.
If we think deeply, this Liverpool season was amazing.
It's sad how they throw a lot of things away in couple of matches but that's how it is.
I am sure next season will be better especially with a rebuild

No not everyone thinks Arsenal are bottlers. As a Liverpool fan they've impressed me with their progress last season and this one. I remember defending Arteta to disgruntled Gunners fans on many occasions and told them to have patience. The progress was there to see. Maybe they can nick the title from City but it will take an uncharacteristic slip from them for that to happen.

Liverpool have been extremely unlucky with the VAR decisions. At Spurs and home against Arsenal the most obvious. But they need to replace/improve on Darwin Nunez. His wastefulness have destroyed much of the momentum. Need to sell Salah, reinvest in top quality and keep Jota fit next season. With that in place they are better than Arsenal and closer to City.
The current Liverpool is not better than Arsenal in any quantifiable metric and are unlikely to be so next season either under Slot.

I've been saying that since forever that Liverpool has been hanging on for dearlife with arsenal and City.... credit to them for being up there for so long with so many injuries...

After last season nobody would’ve believed we would finish in top 3 or even be at top of the league for as long as we have. Truth is we have dropped off, in the last 6 weeks or so.
If you had asked most fans preseason we wouldve taken this particularly with a midfield rebuild preseason.

I really don't understand these double standards. Arsenal were not expected to win the league last season as their target at the start was Top 4 and thanks to some key injuries they also just fell off and ran out of steam in a title race nobody predicted them to be part of - and the end result was being labelled huge bottlers! Liverpool do pretty much the exact same thing this season having led the table and people now see them as overachieving and nobody expected them to win in the first place. I think both teams overachieved - but just find it funny how the media twists the narrative differently for both clubs.
No... Arsenal were phenomenal all season and led basically all the way up until April. Personally I feel Liverpool were hanging on and we're lucky to be up there. Im surprised we stuck it out as long as we did. With Arsenal you guys looked outstanding and we're killing teams off.
@@nulifestylefitness True but the point still stands that at the beginning of the 2022/23 season, none had Arsenal challenging for the title and only a few had them to end up in the Top 4. They massively overachieved last season and this season they have shown that it wasn't just a flash in the pan.
@@nabilahmadsiddiqui345 I agree but it's the way it happened imo. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I mean as a Liverpool fan the aim was top 4, but when it looked like we were in the race my hopes switched. Where I think Arsenal's was worse was that they actually looked like they had it all in their hands in the sense that it didn't look lucky they were killing it and if they held on would have won it. Whereas Liverpool I always felt we were hanging in there. I never got carried away as a fan because I didn't feel our performances reflected a title winning team. Coming back from behind so many times, so many injuries and failing to keep clean sheets. If we pulled it off it would have felt like a miracle. But moving forward think Arsenal are going to be a huge problem, mean they kinda are now
