- Thanks for joining us for a raw, chatty couple of days, travelling Australia while living full time in our newly rebuilt vintage caravan. This week we road trip from the Murray River in South Australia, through to Victoria and eventually Mungo National Park in New South Wales. Sorry Myrtle but we're going to have to put you on one more off road track to get there 🫣

About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. We have gone on some crazy adventures since then and it is all thanks to you tuning in to join us every week.
Corrugated roads lower your tyre pressure not quite as much as sand but softer tyres will reduce the impact on the van and car. Love the VLog.
I think you guys have turned a page and are now so relaxed and having fun...😊
100% mate we feel very relaxed now!
Crazy how much you guys have grown, in a good way. Old Megan would have been freaking out down that dirt road.
😂 100% she would have been!
Great to see Myrtle handling the corrugations. We love your work . Great to see you guys really enjoying travelling again. Yes the caravaning community is awesome. ❤❤ Velcro on the back of your couch would hold it in place off-road.😊😊
Great episode guys! Really nice of you to offer to pass on your knowledge, really refreshing seeing generous people doing well on RUclips. Can't wait till next week's episode 😀👌
Guys I’m 63 and just discovered air fryer, nothing better, safe travels 🍺🥂
If it helps, you’re not the only ones having trouble adapting to daylight saving this year. At the beginning of this year we swapped from a caravan to a motor home and something we didn’t expect was the amount of rattles and squeaks we had to address. We have them mostly sorted now but I can assure you the amount of noise inside Mertle while you’re on corrugated road is ten times worse than you think. But, she survived and will continue to survive because she was built well. Don’t kid yourselves about “off road” caravans, a lot of them are little more than a normal caravan with a raised suspension and some aluminium checker plate slapped on the sides. Cheers, Stuart & Leanne. Canberra.
Day light savings. Sucks.
@@westaussie9497 Agreed. I want my cool mornings not the hot afternoons.
Another great video guys thanks you should be very proud of Myrtle she’s a celebrity she’s bound to attract a lot of people ❤👍
So good seeing you guys smiling so much in your adventures. I'm loving the amount of people stopping you saying hello and the reaction from you both with the absolute joy from it. Be safe and looking forward to where you are next.
PS, how's the 100 going? Perhaps an update on that for us subscribers.
Little air fryer hacks/ tips. I add a tiny bit of water at the bottom of the tray when cooking chicken, lamb, souvlaki ect to keep it nice (and hate this word) moist*. Also if you put a cake tin, the same size as your air fryer bucket, it's great for cooking thick omelettes, or putting water in the tin and you can steam dim Sims, porn bun, and dumplings.
Ooo thanks for the tips appreciate this!!
Now I want to know what a porn bun is 😆
I said to my wife that Jack and Megan have done up an old caravan. I asked if she remembered who you guys were and she said "duh!!" you have been watching them for ages and talk about them all the time. I didn't realise that. I wait for your videos and look forward to them! We will be out and about in our van soon (I hope) and know very little about caravanning. You guys inspire me in some way every video. Thanks for the great content and being yourselves. You are so much fun to watch. Safe travels Ian
We have been 4.5 years offroad and con I'd prevented us from seeing parts that you have shown us, thankyou. We have a dometic drs which is great if u clean your filters after offroading.
Glad u r doing it whilst u r young
Myrtle has made u less reclusive, the offroad family always chat n share stories x
The blessed life
Hi guys, I think it’s that big green and white van you’re towing around behind you, that is getting you all the attention. When you were in the troopie there was so many troopies getting around that you would never be quite sure who was behind the wheel the van gives us a good guess 😜
Hi Guys, So good to catch up with you in Mungo. Thanks for taking the time to chat. Well done with all your vids. Cheers Michael.
Likewise mate thanks for saying hello!!!
Well done and a caravan is just a whole new way of travelling where you are fresh and comfortable all of the time.
Loving all the interactions with people coming up to say hi.
It has been the best!
Myrtle has been so well restored that’s why people are attracted to her, you ought to pat yourselves on the back for all the hard work that you put into her. It’s a beautiful caravan. Yes they did travel around Oz in vans like that and no solar, batteries etc to speak of, even the old VW wagons use to do the lap with no mod cons and they had a ball. Mungo NP is a dream of mine after I come back from WA. Cheers Judy
Another great blog ( or is it a vlog, not sure?) And yer definitely air down when hitting corrugation! Saves tge car and van! Thanks guys again! Phil
In South Aus, its "River Murray" in Vic it's "Murry River"
Beautiful Lake Bonney.
A great place to stay ❤
Sunsets are gorgeous
Happy Sunday, guys.
Love watching yous,
Another awesome adventure.
Happy Sunday!!!
I bloody love you guys! This is the perfect content for a Sunday 👌 p.s Jack, get a new jacket 🤣🤭😉
I think you’d love using a Thermomix for cooking 😊 It can make smoothies. Also chops, blends, saute, steams, cooks anything all in one pot, etc. Easy cleaning afterwards. 😃
Woohoo - you’re giving off a good vibe. Clearly loving myrtle and all that she brings you 😊😊
LOL with your comment Megan!! Loved it 😅 we call ours a ‘front window flap’ 😂😂
How different is the landscape at Mungo National Park, different to anywhere else in Aus, and so much history. I went there years ago in a little 2wd on a day that was 45 degrees, and the road was not graded, so hectic but a great adventure. Also how cool that you are recognized on the middle of nowhere, nowhere to hide now guys 😂😂
You guys are awesome, truly living the dream 🍻
You are visiting some really cool places and you’re giving me ideas of really fantastic places to see! Thank you, love the videos and what you’re doing, bumpy roads and all! 🤪
Thanks for watching!!! Good to hear we’re giving you some ideas!!
Thank you for sharing your adventure. 😀
Thank you very much for watching 😃
Nothing beats the feeling getting into those places with your caravan. Yes, corrugated roads aren’t ideal, but you pretty quickly realise what you need to pack away to prepare and if you do regular checks of wheel bearings etc. It should be ok. I’ve never had a dust extractor and I’m sure it would be great, but you do get used to living with the dust.
Oh yeah we’re getting used to that dust 😂 best feeling ever getting the van to that campsite!
Ah you went through loxton! Thats wherr we are (for a few more days anyway) there was so many caravans going through town that long weekend, its crazy we might have driven past each other.
Hi guy's Good job on snagging the camp spot Nice, loxton is such a nice relaxing place, you can do the complete circle of the area n multiple towns in a day trip, not sure which way ya traveling, but in Adelaide " Dario caravans has all the old style van parts ,vicount,Millard etc.
iv always been able to source parts for my 75 vicount, keep in mind,
So good see that ya chilling finally, Meagan still a worry wort lolooo
Keep up the great work and have a lovely time Stay safe and can't wait to see next upload Cheers wazza
Use some velcro on the back of the lounge cushions to keep it in place. Great places you are travelling to. Good to see you meeting so many friendly people and enjoying it. By the way, where are you hiding Merv? Havent seen him in a while.
❤ you guys & the content u are making 🇦🇺🤟🍻
Thanks so much!!
Hey guys, love your content, as an avid air fryer cooker, I utilise a temperature prope just a hand held one from Bunnings, just to check temps, take care, drive safe and smile...
to stop the dust getting in you could try a Fabric Draught Stopper you can get them from Bunnings for about $10
Going well, hey don't forget to check over welded areas for signs of cracking etc, just in case.
I’m big on this I think I check at least 5 times a day haha.
I think you need a visitors book for Myrtle for all the people that approach you guys to say Hi 😊
Yesss we were just discussing this! We think we need to get a Polaroid camera again and put them all on the fridge 🥰
Hi guys great video A good way to practise awareness is to remember peoples names by associating their name with something, I guess you already knew that Megan probably was just so excited to meet people.❤
I went to Mungo a couple of months ago in my tiny Mazda 2, and camped all by myself in the other campsite half around the circuit. Fabulous but Jesus, those roads. Oh, and I was there mid-grading.
You can use some velcro behind the bench rest to hold it on the wall. Makes it easy to take out but just makes it more secure
Been a while since I've been able to 'catch up' with you guys. Myrtle looks great! Congrats. Oh, I wish you had been able to do the Mungo NP tour, I'm sure it would've been spectacular. On our Bucket List for sure. Looking forward to more vids. Cheers.
Thank you for another awesome video. Yes, that shake is no better than maccas.
Really loving your content. Have bought a campervan and hoping to get to some of the places you are visiting. Will be traveling on my pwn as husband passed away last year before we were about to set off exploring more of Aus, so interested to hear about the places you are getting to. xxx
love your solar setup ... i'm running 3 x 170 panels and 240 ah which works for at least 4 days of no sun and it is a completely solar powered setup as well, no car connection... love ya work.
It’s been great hey!! Will be interesting to see when we get some really bad weather how long ours will last!
Great ep and spots guys, So great Myrtle is working so well for you. One day You may want to fit a dust suppression system to her, for dirt roads, and brace her A frame for lots of it, and guys buy a big 12v compressor and let your tyres down would help out the old girl so much. .
Thanks Craig! Caravan has been amazing so far!
Another brillz edition guys. 🎉Gawww.. bless u Jack. What a genuinely honourable and kind offer.
Keep sharing the adventures & the love beautiful people's. The world's a better place for what you're doing. 🧡 ps,if u find the duct tape is effected by the wind or water, go for gaffa tape.. 'nashua' is the brand u want It is a little expensive, but as far a holding things together or in place and be totally weather proof, theres nothing that really compares. Youd be removing/replacing each stop, but be aware if u were to leave it on for any real length of time, itll take the paint off with it
Lake Bonney would be a hard spot to leave so nice ! Love your caravan !
We could have easily spent a week camping at lake Bonney!
Great to see you enjoying your adventures. Where was the camp you stayed at on the Murray? It looked lovely.
Next project... Myrtles 4WD suspension. HAWT!
I was waiting for the sponsorship ad regarding the smoothies. (some shake ad) lol. The build up was intense. He he he
😂😂 classic a sponsor for some frozen fruits would be nice haha.
Well done on getting onto the air fryer band wagon. It’s bloody awesome. Heaps more great camping along the Murray. Maybe follow it towards NSW? You coming into Sydney?
Have to put Mungo National park on my list now 🤩 amazing landscape
Book the tour!! 😂😂
Guys, I've been on the road for nearly 2 years. Never used 240 volt. I must admit. I wouldn't now how.
Brilliant lov watching vids always can tell me please how many litres is airfryer looks good 🤙
Hey guy's love your channel watch you every Sunday. Can you pppplease stick your solar screen on the rear window of your cruiser my old can't cope.hahaha
Haha thanks for following along! I took it down so that I could see the van in the rear vision mirror haha
HA GUYS 👍 YOUR KILLING IT 😂 THE DOOR TRY A OVER CENTER LOCK AND RUBBER WITH STICKY ON THE BACK FOR AROUND THE DOOR SEAL 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 KEEP ON GOING CARNT WHAT FOR THE WA COAST TRIP 👏
We’ve been following you guys since the troopy days & love your channel, I had a couple of ideas to keep track / remember people’s names, you could have a guest book / visitor book for people to write in 😊 or I saw on another channel you could take Polaroids with people that visit & write their name on it, not sure if you’d be interested in doing that but thought I’d mention it anyway
Enjoy the rest of your time on the Murray & I hope you adjust to daylight savings soon (from a fellow West Aussie) ❤
Everyone says ‘The caravan’s fine’ when going over rough roads. That’s because they aren’t IN it. Try sitting inside one on a dirt road. It’s horrendous! I don’t know how they don’t fall apart!! The noise and all the visibly shaking parts is scarey.
😂 Me either some how it’s stayed together!
i was lucky enough to walk the eroded dunes in mungo before they closed it off and again when a tor guide let me follow the group in after them although it is very limited where the group can go now. perhaps drone footage is your best bet if allowed.
Hey Guy’s, love your video’s. Been trying really hard to ignore this and look past it but I “think” I saw a gas bottle behind the seats of your Toyota. This is not a good idea. If it starts leaking it can be very dangerous for you. Stick it on the roof rack. 😊
Hi I have been watching you both nice you were doing up Jacks dads car.
My husband and I are wonting to do some traveling, and was wondering how you wash your cloths.
We also have an old caravan, so no bathroom or laundry. Do you just go to laundry mat or someway wash your cloths on the road with you.
Guys, welcome to the Eastern States, as for Airfryer, just wait till you do a Roast Pork with Crackling it's the bomb, and you'll wonder why it took so long to get on the bandwagon as ya said., safe travels guys. Maybe a tip if you enjoy history, look up the Darling River Tour. Maybe you've already past though.
Hey, I did think about a pork but wasn’t sure if it would crackle up! But after reading this I’m getting one today haha.
That was fun!!! I am looking at that RV and thinking it was brand new when I was in Australia in 72 thru 75. One of those pesky Immigrants. First drive was a 64 Kombi, and after sanding the motor drove a Holden panel. But you guys set a new standard for stuff to see. It all seems so refined. I mean $75 e for a tour guide??? did it include a catered dinner ? Did find out the corrugations between Darwin and Perth would disappear round 65 mph (105 to you guys. And ya except for Dampier was all the way. Love your camper Velcro is your friend.
1:16, yeh looks amazing 😂😂. That was funny
😂😂
$75 - money well spent I thinks!!😃
How did you get so far east????????? I was very confused......Murray River...... oh darn I'll have to catch up!!!
So....your battery amperage at 400a of Lithium is high average especially because you can run it down to 10% capacity with no/little effect on charge cycles. Where you REALLY gain is your 1200w of solar.......how many amps peak do you see on a blue day at noon? What a perfect setup!!!!!!!!
I've just upgraded from 12 year old 280/300 watts solar to brand new 800w but still have 300a Lifeline AGM in my Nimbl truck camper. So I'm waiting for an excuse to change batteries!!
Did you polish your solar panels and does the drone blow them as clean as I hoped it would??!!
Happy days you two:}:}
Hey guys, that sliding door on your shower toilet, what brand is it and where did you get it from cheers Tony
might have to invest in a thermometer to check temp off meats ? Great Vid...
Good idea!
murray river area is my fav place in aust. eric from mandurah
How can that tour possibly be worth $75 per person . Do they provide a champagne and prawns with it?
Did you lose a spotlight off the cruiser on those corrugations?
Would love to see you guys do the Cassowary Coast in FNQ. (Etty Bay, Tully, Mission Beach, Paronella Park, Warrina Lakes, Flying Fish Point, Art Deco, Johnstone River). And so much more. (free camping at Fred Drew Rest Area). Innisfail is 1hr south of Cairns. #Visit_Innisfail #bestestimes
Stunning Location.
Damn had i have know i could have got you a free tour at Mungo
🥲
😊😊😊😊😊
Would it be possible that you do up a diagram about your electrical system, and what cabling, fuses, switches etc you used. I have a Viscount caravan I am doing up and I am at the electrical stage. I am stuck on cabling, how many fuses and switches etc. Cheers
Hey mate , I did a full install episode! All the fuses I used are in the description also.
ruclips.net/video/I9qXTqT2Oco/видео.htmlsi=r4pkMzPi9Ng7vdxi
First comment, woohoo!! Keep up the awesome work guys!
🙏 Thanks for watching!
Can I suggest a visitor's book that would be fun my daughter asked me if I had anything that my mum wrote her name Josie on they want to put Josie the same way as she wrote outside of their renovated old Caravan I should ask them how old the it's is as well.
❤
Another great video guys. Can you cook me a chook? It looked fantastic.
😂😂 we will send it via aus post.
“Science” lol
They (air fryer) are amazing hey
😂
You have the same squeak in your 100 as I do .
Get some Velcro to hold the seat back to the wall
How long do you cook a chicken for? .... Until it can no longer cross the road.. 🤪
😂
Tyre pressure is king
Myrtle needs Velcro! On her seat.
That sounds worse than it is...LOL
Yep!! Megans dad told me this before we left annnnndddd I never did it 😂
@@itsJackandMegan : Megan's dad was right.
And yes, a positive pressure system in Myrtle would keep the dust out.
My old Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van 312D is 26 years old with 410000km on her 5 cylinder diesel (actually all of her has driven 410000km) 😳
I've lived in my van for nearly 2 years and completed 1 lap of Australia. Lap 2 is starting...Left Perth in July, got to Esperance and have doubled back to Mount Barker.
Hey, when you travel with no itinerary and no time frame this happens.
Life is not good 😐
It's GREAT!
You should air down your car and caravan unless you want them to shake apart 😉
I did 👍 always do didn’t feel like I needed to share that as it’s just common sense 😉
@@itsJackandMegan if it was me I would go lower until the rattling stopped but you do you
Should catch up with Jerry while you’re in Mungo.
ruclips.net/video/wvUQcnfwUUM/видео.htmlsi=lw9om8PALxmLYVVh
😂😂
Why do you apologise for living in your home?and after 7 years of living in NSW i still don’t get the daylight saving
Haha I think by the time we get used to it, it will be over 😅🤣
Also! That's a bit F*cked up by the National parks not letting people in unless they pay $75 per person! That's got nothing to do with cultural reason as they are still letting people in. That just shits me as they would be selling licences to run the tours and making a crap tone of money. So much for one Australian I would have jumped the fence it's government owned land which means owned by the tax pays..... so there for that's your land 🤣😂🤣
Another great episode. So gorgeous that Myrtle makes friends for you guys. She is certainly a stunning eye-catching van. 😁🌺
🎉🎉🤗🤗💕💕🇿🇦🇿🇦🎥👍
Myrtle…..the most famous caravan in Australia!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi guys are you coming to echuca if you are give me a shout out like to meet you guys Cheers
It's just mind blowing how something that belongs to anyone mother nature creation someone think of it and charging insane money how this people and from who they got it to whom they pay to own it.Most of the places national parks the money they charge can't be justified of how much they investing back and what we get back....
Eastern Staters save all that daylight over summer, then when winter comes, when you need it, where is it?
🤣🤣
So mertyl is making lots of friends ?
When is she going to start making babies ?
😂😂
Save your heads just head back east
We are mate 😃
Should get a guest book for the people that run into you and that way you'll not forget names ( Maybe 🫣😂 )
