About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. We have gone on some crazy adventures since then and it is all thanks to you tuning in to join us every week.
Happy Sunday! Thanks so much for joining us for another week on the road. We'd love to know where in the world you're watching from, and how the weather is today? 😆

We're actually in WA! ❤ take care and love your shareing
From Singapore 😊❤ It’s raining! ☔️
I’m in Sydney. Message if you guys come through and we can cook you a nice meal.
@@itsJackandMegan Sydney, great weather today and no killer lizards,,,so far 🤣
Hi Megan and Jack! 👋😊 Goonellabah on NSW Far North Coast. Glorious today! 🌞
Hey Jack. Just a suggestion, but you need to cross over your chains from the vehicle to the caravan.
It will help catch the van in the unlikely hood of the hitch seperating. 😊
Hey guys, thought I would throw a couple of suggestions to help you with the acceleration issues. First thing I would do is pull the fuel filter to see if there is water in the trap and if the filter is getting clean or clogged. Second thing I would invest in is a scan tool as the LC will have an OBD port. Carly is a good option as you use it through a phone app. Sometimes sensors can start to play up but not set off the engine light as they will sit as pending.
I am positive it is a fuel issue and that’s why you are having issues when loading the engine up. I had a similar issue after refueling and ended up pulling the fuel filter that had 2000km on it. The filter was black and gritty, and water trap was almost full. I ended up having to drop all the fuel out of the tank because of it. You don’t want to keep running it under load if the fuel is bad as it could potentially damage the fuel pump and injectors.
Anyway I hope this helps you out. Love the videos on both channels.
Try taking fuel filter off and emptying and purchasing some FUELDOCTOR
Thinking the same. That looks like fuel starvation. Also do you have a second sacrificial fuel filter?
I vote yes for you to visit all the big things in Australia! 🐟
Hi guys love your RUclips channel,
The only thing is with the lock 🔐 outside the van , if someone comes along at night they can lock you both inside by putting a screwdriver in it and then you are locked in.
Sorry if this sounds weird but a lot of us care about you both take care 🦘🦘🦘🔥🍷🍷😃👍🌼
I have noticed a new trend on RUclips that people are referring to the ground as floor .. however, "floor" is the lower surface of a room, on which one may walk and "ground" is the solid surface of the earth. Now I will get off my soap box 🤐 Thank you for a great post and please send some of that lovely rain to the ACT we could certainly use some. 😄😄
Jack, we've had the same problem with contaminated fuel immediately after refuelling. We had to replace both filters... problem fixed. We now carry spare filters. P.S. love your channel (s)
That thunder!!!!
About a month ago I got singed by lightning standing by an open house window!!! I smelled burning hair, my face tingled on that one side and my occasional irregular heartbeat went away!!!! Incredible!!
We all have stories and I love following yours!! Happy days!!
@@andrewr171 woahh that’s so scary!! 😧 really appreciate you joining us 🙏🏼
It is always raining in Victoria. Loving the channel.
Hi, Yep! This is caravaning! The good, the bad and the ugly!
My husband said because there is no fault code it could be, and sounds like it could be the turbo hose has come off. They still run but at a reduced power. It’s worth a look. Good luck safe travels.
You’re bringing back so many memories from my childhood. Travelling through Victoria.
So happy to hear that, it must have been lovely!
OI guys FTE guy here back again with some more advice, maintain the fuel system like they should In my opinion injectors should be looked at every 100,000 km and the pump at 300,000. A lot of times it won't seem to have anything wrong but from my experience you're leaving efficiency on the table by neglecting this. (Specifically mechanical engines rather than EFI) Seems the first part of the pump to wear is the advance mechanism, so as the RPMs increase the timing doesn't increase proportionally. This puts EGT through the roof and makes it very lazy and slow compared to one with low ks. Also after 300 to 600 thousand ks, pull the intake off and clean it out, tons of soot will be in there because of the EGR.
Try switching the tank to sub and maybe change the fuel filter the guy at the servo didn’t sound to convincing enjoy
Cheers mate very weird still haven’t figured it out hoping it was a water issue! Will order a new filter for the pickup in the next town for sure!
@@itsJackandMegan some contact cleaner might be a good investment too
Fills up with Fuel, has problems straight away ... Bet my boots there is dirt or scale in the fuel blocking the filter or screens in the tank and injector pump if there is one in the toyotas. First buy a couple of filters then try a new fuel filter, One trick i learnt was to buy half a dozen of the cheap 2 dollar inline petrol filters and keep changing them when you see dirt in them ... they work ok in a diesel but block really easy. when she's empty buy 20 litres and blow the fuel line backwards to clear the inlet screen, drain the tank right out if you have a bung then refill with the jerry can and go fill up with clean fresh fuel... some toyotas have a water trap on the chassis rail but not sure about yours. Good luck.
Yep, you need an aircon. But you'll need to stay at a powered site to use it, or carry a generator. We bought a std household window reverse cycle aircon and fitted it under the lounge seat, with all the necessary ventilation and drip tray....love it! Cheap but super effective!
Us too, the only time we argue is when deciding on somewhere to park the van, and it doesn’t help when you are both tired and hungry. Great episode though and it was wet for us when exploring that area too.
How about a strip of Velcro on the back of the couch to keep it stuck to the wall.
Loving your journey 💗
@@audreyburton5367 yepp need to add that to the never ending list 😆 thanks so much for joining us, we really appreciate it!
Hey there, you both are so down to earth , you haven't really changed at all in all the time we have been watching. We have a 1995 70 series troopy, we found an old paint colour from 80s , it's green and we named our girl Matilda. Continue doing what your doing love it. Trish
I hope you manage to find the issue with your car.
Def sounds like a fueling issue,
All the best guys, love flowing you both
Thanks
So generous of you David, thank you so much! 🥹🙏🏼
You’re very welcome.
Great drone footage islands look amazing.
Thank you for adding past troopy life scenes in it. Its good to know what to expect especially the not so glamour's part of this lifestyle
One o those days... we've all had them. Frustrating, very disappointing, but you live thru it. Keep smiling, stay positive, and learn all you can from the experience - then it won't feel so bad next time you have 'one o those days'.
Gotta be water in the fuel tank after fueling up. Had the same happen to me in my cruiser however I had a light pop up on the dash and an audible alarm. Strange one, hope it’s sorted 👍
We also love the Murray River and Echuca is one of our favourite places and we spent our honeymoon there 35 years ago ❤
I will have to get some of Mervs wonderful stickers, clever boy 😂
Take Care and travel safe
Hi Guys, The heavy breathing sound may have been a koala in season or a possum. I think it is great that you stayed in one spot for a week as it seems like you are slowing down and taking your time to travel. I love driving in the rain because everything is shiny and fresh and the car is cosy. Alex, Gippsland, Victoria.
That spot near Mildura is a great spot to stop for a few days
" i think water got in somewhere.... dam!!" Yes, Jack, that would be a dam(with water in it).😂😂
As a mechanic, my advise would be... take it to a mechanic.
Safe travels guys 🤙🤙
We installed an under bunk air conditioner in our Pop top absolutely love it.
Hi guys hope you sought everything out, that rain was incredible indeed. ❤
Thanks Kim! The rain was insane hey
I hope next week is a better week for you. We have certainly had a lot of rain in Victoria lately. Not sure how long ago you filmed this eposode. We have been promised a long hot summer but that is what they said last year and it never happened. Good luck and as always I am looking forward to the next episode. Oh and I hope you find out what the issue is with the car and I doubt that the servo guy would tell you even if 20 people called up and had an issue!.
just done the cape and a lap of qld and catching up on u guys, just love the way u present. P.S im hittting the road so look out world cheers
Happy Sunday 😃 I love Mildura & the mighty Murry 😍
To bad about the bloody rain, but that's vic for ya ☀️🌨 😉
Omg... I jumped out of my skin with that clap of thunder ; I thought Jack hit a tree 🤣😂
We are watching from Pakenham Upper Vic 🙂 no rain today !
A rollercoaster episode indeed. Keep your chin up guys!
Thanks for watching 😃
Windscreen chips!!! Got more a few fays after I replaced the windscreen. Bought a cheap chip repair kit from an auto accessories store. Fixed it asap before it cracked across the whole window. Can barely see any damage once done! Windscreen's still all good a few years on with multiple chip repairs undertaken.
Echuca is a wonderful place. I do miss living there.
Easy to see why! We loved it 🙌🏼
Perfect timing! I just caught up on both channels yesterday. ❤
Thanks for watching!!
You love lists so good reason to have a todo check list on setting up leaving . We have had one foe several year and it works.
We met the guy in the green troopie in Yass NSW early this year. Amazing old rig (he and the truck) and had some stories to tell
So cool hey! Definitely had some story’s to tell…
Water is in the fuel. Stop at an auto parts store to get some alcohol. That will help combine the two. Happened to my brother who had to put a lot in to get going. Might be your case also. GL Thanks for your video!
Step one, drink the alcohol, step two, forget there was a problem? 🤣
Thank you for posting my sticker from Echuca! I was camping there in March and loved it!
PS: I liked the placement of the hats on the wall
This is amazing guys… made my day 😊 keep it up and never change.
Thank you Tyron! Enjoy the rest of your day🙏
Mildura had a full-on storm Thursday night with rolling thunder and lightning. I haven't heard that type of storm in years. Hopefully, everything is worked out with your car quickly. Stay safe. 😊
Had the same thing in my100 series, open the drain on the fuel filter and try that.
Long time love for the Murray river❤😍 so nice you both enjoyed it 😊👌🏼👍🏻
It's incredible isn't it! So happy we finally got to see it in it's glory 🙌🏼
Awesome and entertaining vlog you two. Sorry about the car, wont suggest an answer as there are plenty of suggestions here, i will say it doesn't seem to be bad fuel as it would be jumping about.
But it does seem weird that it was straight after you filled up.. I'm sure you will sort it and let us all know.
On the video side, it was great. My wife and i love what you 2 do and the energy you 2 share.
We are learning a lot from you both, having come from motorcycle touring to up and coming 4 wd adventures.
Take care. J n D
The noise was probably a Possom. Nice day here in Jacobs Well, should really be outside fixing my ute so i can get back on the road again.
@@aussiewalkabout4x4 ooo yes it definitely could have been!
The Murray River is lovely. We did it from it from Source to Mouth a couple of years ago. A wonderful trip. Make sure you visit the museums along the way to learn the history. And yes be careful where you park under those River Redgums they are very brittle.
If you can keep following it the upper reaches are more beautiful the water is crystal clear above the junction of the Darling. You will learn to slow down and Enjoy! ❤
P.S. we have a tracking device in our van which gives us peace of mind when we leave our van. Black Knight is the brand. From WA and doesn’t require a Sim.
Just bought your caravan sticker....will be putting it on my caravan! Love your channel 🎉
@@mandydriscoll2043 Thanks so much for the support!!!!
Guys, go get one of those round sensor lights. They run off a battery or two and has a magnetic back. It’s brilliant.
Hi Guys, watching your Vid at the moment. If you want some great wines come to Rutherglen in Victoria they have some great wineries 👍🍷We live in Rutherglen and can see DeBortolis vines from our Alfresco. We can also see across to Chambers Wines and we have another 5+ wineries within a 10k radius of our house 🍷🍷
We also have some excellent cafes in town.
Safe travels 🌞
Happy Sunday
Change the fuel filter and check for water in the tank. Another great episode just purchased the 3 pack. Stay safe see you next week 😊
Have ordered on for pick up in the next town! Thanks for the support we really hope you like the stickers!!
Great Episode....
Thank you 🙏🙏
Great video.
Does bruce blow smoke when giving it a rev? Also, check the boost hoses haven't split or come loose, and if it's a later model bruce, then give the maf sensor a clean as well.
Megan tip for when you want to get away from a guy like that is just say you got to do some 50s house wife duty like hey love to stay and chat but i gotta go wash the dishes or do the ironing etc will give you a free pass to get out of there.
Also when travelling in vic if there a heap of rain coming and you want to advoid it head south from murray or north from grampians, get in the wimmera mallee area with all that rain you had where i am only got 15mm for the week and sunshine for most of it lol.
drain some diesel into a cup to see if its got water in the diesel from servo tank
Great story, love your editing, love your joy at what you are doing. Inspirational! Sorry that your car is having a pickle moment. Hope it all works out. (Safety specs while drilling anything is the only advise I can give!)
Well, that's caravanning lifestyle rain/ thunderstorms all good. The one you don't want is hail, but that's caravanning. One other thing about that fuel problem i had a hj60 landcruiser wagon, and under the passenger side, backdoor or behind the back wheel is a fuel filter mine had bolt 🔩 going through the middle of it i just undone it and drain out the water into a container tightened it back up all good. And for your door locks in the old vans, the regional door locks have a locking mechanism built on them, so you should be able to lock it from the inside when you're asleep. From inside when you turn the knob you have a little clip that you flick up and down that locks your door from the inside if you don't have one you'll have to upgrade to a new one. Because the old van had that type of lock when I got built. Hope this helps cheers 🍻
Great video as usual guys. Safe travels.
Welcome to Victoria, sorry about the rain. Best not to be towing Myrtle in pouring rain anyway, she might develop some incontinence 💦 I have vintage caravans and they're always needing repairs - it's never-ending! But aren't they just so cute?! Looking forward to receiving my creepy Merv sticker for the back of my caravan😆
Welcome back to sunny victoria Jack & Megan . I think you guys managed to find the only asthmatic goanna in australia :) . Fingers crossed the 4wd manages to fix itself and the run gets less stress free .
Another great show. Suggestion having date when filmed might help people plan. Love you work
Thanks for watching Steve! Usually our videos are all pretty much up to date- filmed no more than 2 weeks before they’re uploaded.
Noise = koala. Very scarey sound. Very good imitation Jack. 😅
We're watching from Adelaide. Hope to see you on the road sometime. ❤
I live on acreage and also believe that I have heard Kangaroos make those kind of sounds when they are being agressive with each other. Cheers Tony
Now that you mention it yes it could have been!
Yes, koala.
We were watching a vid from 4ll Aboard, and it looked like you guys driving past in the background.
Loved the episode, as usual. Have you thought of getting a stone stomper to protect the front of Myrtle and the draw bar. We’ve got one, they’re great and tailor made for each van/camper. About $750 ish
Try go over the turbo hoses😊
I have a HZJ105, suffered the same problem once, and it was fuel filter.
I’ll be changing this asap also!
Switch the hats! put the dark one on the top, I think it will work better.
My partner says “Check the catch can isn’t full” …. You may know what it is Jack👍 this happened to us recently
Fun fact about Mildura and wine grapes, the winery stinks at 3am and the bins have dead rat mice and birds, spiders etc
30:18 .... Zone RV coming sponsorship coming to tour channel 🤣😅
Would be good you guys deserve it.
Would be a dream come true haha
28:17 - mmm maybe a creepy Merv sticker for Off track HQ 🤔
We have 100, once went into limp mode due to a fault in the sensor at the accelerator pedal but there can be many other reasons so you get a computer readout from Toyota.
I have read about this also!! God dam electronics haha. I’m almost certain it’s an electrical fault.
Hi Jack and Megan a quick solution to your cooling issue you could always get an EcoFlow Wave 2 Portable Air Conditioner
Yes have definitely thought of this!!
Another great video you had everything packed into it. When you fill up at a servo & break down not long after pretty sure you got some doggy fuel. Always get receipts for the fuel so you have proof of purchase. I guess by now you have checked the fuel filters that's My guess.
The Merv is watching sticker should on the outside of your door as your “lock”
Time to get a STONE STOMPER
Yes I agree with another commenter saying Servo Guy didn't sound too good...as in not tell the truth shame to say...
With your crack on window I heard if U put nailpolish at the end of it is a tempory fix onlysay it on Utube so tell us it fixes the window...
By the way Jack yes that was dumb big time spraying at that time even I said to myself 'WHY NOW RAIN COMING' but U had to do it now it will be to fix the whole bar...😂😂😂
Check out Raptor 1k paint for the draw bar mate. Doesn't come in silver but won't chip
I thought you crashed Myrtle when that thunder hit 😮 holy smokes 😅 watching from Switzerland, pouring rain as well
Scary stuff hey scared the absolute crap out of us 😂😂
Nice 1 guys , flat out like a lizard 🦎 drinking 🍸 😜
I've been watching you guys for 2 years from Mildura.
Spewing I didn't see both of you and Merv.
I have had my vent open when driving and we know it was closed we found out that we had to tighten it just that little bit more and all good and I noticed you don't have a handbrake cable.
I'm from Mildura, watched the entire Myrtle build. Love your channel, even have the wife watching with me.
Shattered I didn't get to meet you guys when you were in Mildura. 🥲🥲
Hi Jack and Megan! I love your vlogs… i have a suggestion! You guys should get a a big sized sticker to put on the back of your van 🚐🤔🤭 Obviously for people to drive past and subscribe to your awesome content!
The rollercoaster is all part of it. Try not to stress. You know you’ll get it fixed and all will be good. Hey, did you guys include windscreen insurance with your comprehensive insurance?
@itsJackandMegan Do you still have the engine issue?
Have you tried driving the car without the van in tow?
Possible the trailer brakes are sticking..
You know you could always pop rivet a sail track along myrtle and buy an awning and a couple of poles for 50 bucks ... wont get in the way if you fit a roll out awning later on.
Great Vid, thought you hit a stump with the lighting ! I suspect a bad load of fuel as you're thinking.
Those stupid roof hatch can vibrate opened. It happened to us twice on our Cape York trip. We had to tape the hatch knob to stop it from opening.
Really! We will keep an eye on it from now on for sure.
Drop the fuel and do the filters, it's water for sure, but you probably fixed it by now..
Diesel heater, you have to shut it down properly by holding off on remote for 2 seconds. This shuts it off slowly like 5min, burns off the rest of the fuel in the chamber so it wont be unburnt fuel next time you start it up, causing excess smoke which goes away after about 5min. Just get into the habit of long pressing the on and off button on the remote when you use it. The same on the controller if you are using that and you will have way less smoke issues on startup.
I was like, how did they have the exact same subscribers back in 2022 back in the troopy videos, then i realised what you did, Sunday arvo few beers in.. doh!
Hey guys can I ask the slide bolt you put in does it lock off in the open position? If not watch that it does not slide and lock your door from the inside as you do corrugations. That could be not a great situation 😂
That heavy breathing u heard that night was a Yowie 😁
Was waiting for someone to say this haha
Get a Coolzy personel aircon, only uses 350 watt of power
Would love patches of the stickers
Did you get your car sorted? Happy to help depending on where you are located currently.
Be careful where you buy your fuel, especially after a lot of wet weather.
My wife is responsible for the inside of our trailer , she has a list for her self on the wall . I am responsible for the out side stuff including septic .
No fits
Besides the fuel filter (do you have the sub tank?) did you fill up both tanks? If not change tanks and check if you still have the issue? I always fill one tank before swapping over to the other tank, at a time (first running the new fuel for about 20km before changing) and rotate usage (keeps the diesel fresh and incase of contamination i have an alternate tank with different fuel to get me out of a pinch).
Good luck cheers
