    In fact, the manufacturers ratings are based on the rough weight required to close a gripper, if weight was to hang by a strap, in the *middle* of the gripper length. The real ratings he describes are the actual weight needed to close a gripper, if the weight is hung from the *end* of the gripper (where your pinky would be). So it doesn't really come out of thin air, but for the purposes of comparison and sales, the larger number taken from the middle weight hang is taken

    Larry, in so many sports, little advantages (and disadvantages) accrue to certain athletes. In bench pressing with the 32" legal grip limit, big Jim Williams' (675 lbs. in early 70s) bench presses looked almost close grip, then some tiny guy/gal benches where it appears super wide using the same width. In deadlifting, a guy who can pull like you, really big weights, gets a bit of bar bend to better break it off the floor. In Olympic lifting, the high-end bars oscillate more after a superheavyweight shoulders the weight after a squat clean. Same overhead after a jerk where it makes keeping elbows locked more of an issue. You get the idea. Here on CoC's? This man has huge grip power . . . and his big advantage not available to everyone? Big hands to grab the grippers with a more favorable position. Good video!!!

    That gripper has a rating tag of 220. If it was done by Cannon PowerWorks, it's worth noting that the average Captains of Crush #4 gripper has a CPW rating of 214 and the most common rating (the mode) is 212. So, statistically, this gripper is about 3 to 4% harder than other #4 grippers. Also, by all the earlier 'squeaking' that can be heard during his reps with the other grippers, it's apparent that none of these springs have been oiled. Unoiled springs full of chalk dust would add additional resistance as well.

Mark is one of the most prolific of all time and most consistently competing despite his relatively older age compared to much younger competitors. He set the record for most World's Strongest Man contests competed in and made it to the finals three times. He also set the grip records that many of the world champions could not.

    I heard a fun story about Carl when he was in college.
    So at a shot put meet in college world champion Christian Cantwell was there. A 6'5, 340lb guy, absolutely massive. And the meet was starting but Cantwell's coach couldn't find him anywhere. He looked around and started asking people around him, like where did this kid go. But then Carl Myerscough moved out of the way, and Cantwell had been standing behind him.
    Also, apparently Carl would do shot put exercises with the 35lb weight throw ball. This dude's hands simply do not belong to a human lol

Reason being it's harder on the fingers since you can't fully wrap your fingers around and cant help with your leg or other hand too deep. • @c8myotome

      It doesn't really correlate, dynos are about raw power, for grippers there are leverages that cater to certain hand types, and also a high amount of skill required. Anyone can use a dyno.

    • @mystyle8753
      @mystyle8753 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@c8myotome yeah i believe that squeezing statically straight down is different than dynamic angled squeezing.. Plus the technique and all that however their is a bit of correlation i doubt somebody can squeeze number 4 and not squeeze at least 120 - 130 kg on dyno even first time but yeah im not sure if he can break vitaly record.. Vitaly static grip is higher than ivan's who can also squeeze number 4 from deep set.. Even larry can squeeze up to 125 kg on dyno with good technique and when fresh and ivan has like 10-15 kg more.. Larry can barely close number 3 on a good day so definitely they are different

    • @c8myotome
      @c8myotome 8 месяцев назад +1

Only tried the gm150 once so far after 2.5 hours of gripping and got 101kg could do more fresh. Hand shape and skill matters a lot more for grippers whereas dynos are little skill and all strength where hand size doesn't matter as much
