Thanks for the direct comparison! My original, well-kept Galaxy Explorer with box is at my brother’s house. Someday I hope to be reunited with it. Like you, it was a Christmas 1979 present. I got many hours of playtime from it. Interesting to see how small it is compared to the modern homages!

It took me until I finished the new Galaxy Explorer to realize that there was a retractable ramp. I think it's really neat how the designers hid it internally.
