You just made my day! Thank you so much for the kind words and it makes me so happy to hear feedback that people find these videos useful. Sometimes it feels like I'm just rambling to myself in the garage.
i stumbled across your channel when i picked up my GX last month and have binged all your vids! keep up the great work man. looking forward to more awsome vids!
Thank you for that feedback! It's awesome hearing these comments and knowing others find them useful. I'll keep making videos on the GX for awhile! I also have an awesome surprise for the community to announce in the next month or so 😎
Nice video install and what an awesome price you get there. I clicked on the link and the price just for the front brake kit and calipers is now $315, plus the $108 core charge. You got a great deal - must be a promotion of some sort.
Thank you so so much!!!! I've been wanting to do this for some time but had questions that you answered in this video. The GX looks great man!! Keep up the great work.
No, thank you for watching and supporting the channel! I'm glad to hear this covered all your questions and hopefully it gave you what you need to do it at home. I'll keep making videos as long as everyone keeps watching. It's been a blast being in the GX community...such great people on this platform.
Thank you! I have been thinking about doing this upgrade recently and also wanted to paint them all to match. Appreciate the detail in your video, it'll really help.
Ugh watching how easy it was for you to remove all those bolts really makes me angry to live in the NE. Lol. Lots of envy no lie. Love the video, very informative. Watching the build slowly come together is amazing.
Thank you Evan! It's been so much fun building this GX and slowly upgrading parts. It's very rewarding doing DIY work and saving money too. I used to live in PA, so I can sympathize with you on the rust issue as they salt the crap out of everything up there in winter.
What a great video, thank you! Sorry if I missed this in the video itself or in the comments, but will this mod work with standard OEM size tires and rims, or does it require a rim upgrade?
Thank you! I appreciate that! 🙏🏻 Great news! These work with the factory wheel setup. Even though I have aftermarket wheels they are still 17” like the factory configuration.
Is there a reason other than overall project cost that you chose to refresh the rear brakes rather than replace them with the same 460 calipers as the front?
Also, the rear brakes are typically just keeping the vehicle straight, while the front brakes are taking the brunt of the load. That's why you need change your fronts more often
Weird question but - If I upgrade the fronts first and not the rear at the same time (to save on intial costs) is there any issues with the fronts being a bigger braking system than the standard gx 470 rears..?
No there won't be any issues if you just do the fronts until you are ready to purchase the rear. You'll wear the pads in the front sooner, but not really an issues.
Hey Krunckap, there’s a chance the price went up since the video. Try adding the items to your cart and it should show an itemized breakdown with a core charge and reimbursement details for sending the old cores in.
After watching this video, I decided to take on this project. I've tackled some DIY projects on my GX470 because of watching your awesome GX470 content! Thanks for creating fun and informative GX content that motivates me to get active, bro 🫡
Are you using the 460 rotors or the 470? Someone else made an in-depth video between the two rotors where the 460 rotors are thicker for better cooling efficiency causing less brake fade. You didn’t indicate which rotors you were using.
Great catch! Yes, also using the 460 rotors, but only on the fronts. The rear I stuck with 470 rotors because I hear they don't fit correctly and will wobble and give brake flutter.
@@Kingaliat305rim size is the main reason I watched the video. I'm honestly surprised you have 16s. My current OEM rims are 17 and my future rims will also be 17 inch.
Please explain exactly what you mean by "a huge increase in braking performance". Surely this equates to a much shorter stopping distance? Otherwise, it is a waste of money and time. I see a lot of companies claiming "increased braking performance" but none of them post any actual data..."proof" and I'm not as gullible as most people.
Sounds like you aren't very fun at parties either pal. He stated in the video that looking back he wished he would have done some before and after tests. Also the price isn't wildy expensive either so both of your statements don't really make much sense. Looks like you fooled yourself buckaroo.
Yes, I agree…I should have been more quantitative in the video, but working a full-time job with overtime it’s challenging to make every video perfect. It’s a weekend hobby, so some videos get more enthusiasm than others. It’s the cheapest brake upgrade you can do and I’d estimate 15-20% better braking. Not life changing, but worth the small investment.
It's holding up great and I still recommend it. The Apple CarPlay feature saves it for me and makes it worth it along with the large screen. The software user interface leaves a bit to be desired, but its the best option for the 470 in my opinion.
I just looked up my order and I don’t see an indication of 14WA or 14WB. I’m not sure I know what the difference is. If you follow the links in the video description do you see any indication there?
Dude 800 a month!!! If I drive conservatively it's 240 and I'm lifted with fat tires and RTT. I guess if i were taking trips every weekend it could get like that. I'm still looking for a gas saver though.
Yeah if you have a long commute this can start to rack up the gas $$. I moved a few months back a little further from work and I noticed the increase in gas. Now that it's cooler here in FL I'll be riding my motorcycle to work.

Great info on all of your install videos and inspiring to fellow GX owners who like modding our vehicles.
Thank Bill! I'm glad you appreciate the effort to put these videos together. They consume quite a bit of my free time lol.

I have been loving this upgrade since the install.
Need to get to this job. I’ve had the full kit just waiting for install for this past full year 😂
You should! It's a fairly easy job and the brake performance feels great.
*beautiful GX470* ❤ 😃

Great video as always, love the magnet excitement 😂
Thanks Kaiser!!

I put 33s on my 470 and the braking has been extremely sketchy ever since probably gonna do this.
This should help improve your breaking, especially if you have a seized caliper which is a common issue with the GX470 calipers.
It's always great content with your videos. The only thing you have me wondering is, what if we could put the old fronts on the back??
That is a great idea!! I'm thinking the bolt alignment isnt exact, but a bracket might help adapt it. 🧐
Hi. Did you apply a primer or not? How does it hold up? What did you clean it with before painting?
Thanks!
No, I did a paint an primer combo for brakes. I should have put the link in the video description. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll add a link!

@@Awesomoto That's fantastic, thank you for the confirmation. I'm going for it!
Red to match the springs cool dude 🤙🏾
Don't forget to lubricate those rear slide pins. Gxs love to make the caliper pins stick.
Yes, great suggestion! That is the last thing you want after all this effort.
I know the 4th 4runner has brake issues with seizing but what's the issue with the GX?
I've heard this about 4th gen 4runner and GX. I havent personally encountered it on my GX though.
First time anyone had said to leave the ignition on for bleeding the brakes. FUCK. Would explain why my front to rear bias has started to feel off.
Yeah that was something I wasnt expecting. Good thing is this bleeder kit makes life easy with bleeding them.
Is there a reason other than overall project cost that you chose to refresh the rear brakes rather than replace them with the same 460 calipers as the front?
From what I understand, the 460 rear brakes arent compatible to swap directly, so that is why I chose to just refresh the rear.
Also, the rear brakes are typically just keeping the vehicle straight, while the front brakes are taking the brunt of the load. That's why you need change your fronts more often

Has this gone up in price since you did it? I also don't see the core refund noted on the summit website 😥
Hey Krunckap, there’s a chance the price went up since the video. Try adding the items to your cart and it should show an itemized breakdown with a core charge and reimbursement details for sending the old cores in.
on the core charges how did u receive refunds on the front core when the items were the 470 not the 460 core items?
Sorry for the delay. They're not particular about the core returns. As long as you return the rotors, you will get the refund.
thanks for sharing, gonna do this soon!
Of course! It was a fun upgrade for the GX.

Does the new caliper use the old caliper bracket
Great question. Yes, its the old caliper bracket, which makes the install very easy.
Are you using the 460 rotors or the 470? Someone else made an in-depth video between the two rotors where the 460 rotors are thicker for better cooling efficiency causing less brake fade. You didn’t indicate which rotors you were using.

Do you think the bigger calipers will clear 16 inch rim?
That I’m not entirely sure of. I think it would, but I’d want to measure to be sure.
Recent had my GX lifted and realized the current stock brakes are rubbing on the 16 lol.
This will be something I keep in mind once I get bigger rims

What year gx460 did you get the replace the fronts?
Great question. These are for 2010-2015 GX460s
Advanced Auto parts had a glitch or something but the 460 rotors were like 80% off but didn’t get to order it. Smh
