Got a new 65 , 3 2s midnight blue, blue interior for graduation from high school. Wha a great car. Got drafted and sold it just before leaving for nam. Have owned many cars over the years years. 442, SS 396, and several corvettes. My GOAT was my favorite. Miss those times.

Great looking and performing car from an era we'll never see again. I had a '66 with a 4 bbl. and 2 speed auto. My dad bought it for me in about 1972, before the Arab oil embargo. New cars at that time had some smog equipment and lower compresion pistons to run on unleaded gas. That car really growled from about 35 mph when I "floored it" and it downshifted to 1st up to around 70 mph when it shifted into 2nd gear. It was pretty too, with gold paint and matching gold interior. It was more of a luxury hot rod and fully equipped with PS, PB, and A/C. I drove it every day as I was going to college and gas was dirt cheap. Sometimes, I wish I could go back to those relatively care-free days.

Hey MC Campy, Love this beautiful 65 🐐 Red Hardtop with all of the goodies. Nicely done!! Truly my Favorite look for that year. My best friend (RIP 1989) Jimbo Schelhorn had one in HS in the 80s and it was a dragstrip beast that really smoked the tires and chirped all 4 gears with 4:11 dana posi gears and all of the Masterful motor work done by the "Master" of Pontiac racing outta Brooklyn NY 🗽. I'm sure you've heard of him, Nunzi Romano, the only guy who took a naturally aspirated 68 Firebird 400 single four barrel carb No Nitrous
and just some Cam 2 racing gas like we got back in the day and HE RAN 8 seconds, THAT'S RIGHT 8 SECONDS,
IN THE QUARTER MILE.. LOOK HIM UP HE WAS IN CAR CRAFT MAGAZINE IN THE LATER 60S into the 1970s. A true Legend 😮 Just like the GTO.. I loved the 2 body style I owned the most, 66 drop top and a 70 hardtop. Great stories for sure. Love my Pontiacs but the Legend is the 🐐....

10 to 1 plus he just either put in or suggested I get certain special parts and with a Doug Nash 5speed boy was that different. Monster car. All Nunzi stuff was incredible. RIP JIMBO 🍻 & Nunzi.

Campy......thank you for this wonderful video. Quick story - my late step-father was a car salesman in Pasadena, CA , and a customer traded in a '65 Lemans for a newer vehicle. My step dad bought the Lemans and brought it home to me as my first car as a sophomore in high school - 1978. I was a punk kid and initially did not appreciate it. Thought it was an "old ladies" car. But when I drove it to school for the first time and some of the hot rodder gearheads gave me a thumbs up, my countenance completely changed. This started my love affair for A-body 60's cars. I eventually had the Lemans repainted, removed all the emblems and badges, and everyone assumed it was a GTO. LOL. So many great memories driving that Pontiac !! Gene's GTO here is absolutely gorgeous !

I was 16 in 1969 and our area had many muscle cars on the streets every night. Even at 16 I was working on many of them. Some belonged to my brother-in-law, a 68 442, 64 Stingray and later a 71 Duster with the Wedge head 340. But in my opnion hte 65 GTO was the best looking of all the muscle cars. And I still love the looks and perforance of three dueces and a four speed.

I drove one for 10 yrs on the street, (and strip), from 77-87 and had a blast with it. I don't regret selling it, and don't want another, but is still my favorite yr. Next on my list is a 67, 68, or 70. (My bucket list)...:)

Great Car....Great Video. Really enjoyed it! They didn't mount Tach's on the console in the GTO's. 64's Tach was an option only from the factory. It was in place of the clock in the dash. 65 the option was Rally Gauges which included the Tach in the dash. They had a dealer installed Vacuum Gauge which resembled a tach in size and shape which was mounted on the console.

I once saw a '65 Impala SS with a 283 and a Powerglide, and it had a vacuum gauge mounted on the console!

The red dash is a nice touch! When I was a kid my best friend's Parents had a 65. It had the 389 with the3 duce set up, with a 2 speed power glide. The front, and rear carbs were unhooked, so i hooked the linkage back up, and we went cruising. We burned up a new set of snow tires that night. Had to pay for em to. Sure like that 65 especially with the 4 speed. Really like you're channel. PEACE ✌️
