    My husband had a stroke 5 years ago, so uncluttered and uncomplicated is a must for me. I cannot allow "things" to get in the way from what matters most. And I also get my strength from our loving Heavenly Father, and from His Word.

    Thank you for sharing your story! I have a sign over my sink: God blesses my kitchen, but He doesn't do the dishes. I could study my Bible and pray for hours (easy for me) but that didn't show me how to manage a household in detail. The Lord has used means (books, friends, videos) to teach me. It has been a long process. Thank you.

    • @justynakavi407
      @justynakavi407 28 дней назад +9

      Me too. I put light or colored laundry every afternoon in the washing mashine. I switch it on before leaving for work around 8am. The first thing I do once back home and taking my shoes off is transferring to the dryer. When it's dry I call my kids to help me fold and send them to their room with whatever clothes was theirs in there. No laudry baskets and no laudry on weekends.

    • @tammyc1812

      I use laundry baskets, but just for transporting stuff around the house. I hate folding cold laundry and most clothing gets hung up

    • @kcaruso54
      @kcaruso54 27 дней назад +1

      Yes, I’ve always folded right out of the dryer. I just stand there and separate it into piles of who it belongs to right on top of the machines. (There’s just 3 of us.) If I have a large load I’ll just drape all the t-shirts over the open dryer door and fold them on the bed.

    As someone who went through years of infertility (mostly due to my autoimmune disease and subsequent surgeries) and also went the adoption route to completing our family I very much understand the struggles. What I haven’t struggled with is the difficulty you and your husband must have raising boys with the challenges they have. I so admire you both in choosing to adopt all three boys knowing how difficult a journey you would have. Our son did have ADHD and that does come with its own problems but we have been able to navigate our way through it. He is now an adult and doing very well. We are blessed. Watching your videos and knowing how authentic you are is a blessing to us all. Thank you for sharing.❤️🙏

    Thankyou for sharing and being honest. My daughter passed away unexpectedly last year, heartbroken doesnt even come close, thankful I know she is with Jesus but miss her more than words can say, I am not back at work either there are serious other things I am dealing with too. My point is we put our identity and self worth into everything that honestly is temporal, and thats where I was and so yes I feeel lost but in truth Gods got me and do I about earthly things anymore not really. I declutter all the time and am grateful for lessons learnt but even thats just a thing to do, it does help clean organise etc and that takes pressure off sometimes, shopping is still fun but not excess, God is enough, I am enough and I have enough. ENOUGH was my word for the year and it blessed me so much. Take care God bless.❤

    Dear Sister in Christ - thank you so much for your honesty!! Here is a virtual hug......motherhood is hard and you and your hubby jumped into the deep end for sure! Just by the mere (and I say that totally tongue in cheek) decision to bring those three precious boys home as your own, you and hubby forever changed their lives and are making them SO much better - day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. You ARE good parents! You ARE making a HUGE difference! I am looking forward to your new directions - but under God's timing and not mine (or yours)

    I’m so very sorry for the loss of your dad and especially under the circumstances. It’s never easy to lose a loved one but when it’s sudden and very traumatic it only makes it worse. I also lost my dad many, many years ago when I was in my 20’s. I still have difficult days but they are fewer and far between. I hope with time the treasured memories you have of him will bring you comfort.❤️😳

    Marybeth, thank you for sharing your story. I am 77 and look back at the roller coaster life God has sent me on, some things I rarely share because nobody would believe them. I look back at being a hands on single mom for 50 years, having raised a disabled grandson after loosing a daughter to the war on drugs. I look back with gratitude that God chose me for this journey. Motherhood is never done, I am so grateful for all the challenges, sometimes I think I should write a book, I would just put a comedic spin on it. Marybeth, God must love you very much to have given you this life and those little boys. I remember times keeping up with the laundry, and that was when everything needed ironing, I survived. I have been on the minimalist journey for many years, and always find time for prayer.

    Such a nice video, Mary Beth. I have watched a lot of your videos and always find the ones rooted in Bible study vs decluttering speak to me in a different way. You are a great Bible teacher and I hope your RUclips journey continues to reflect that. Decluttering is nice and helpful, and I enjoy hearing about and being encouraged in the process…but the way you teach the Word inspires my heart and refocuses my mind. You have a gift that I hope you continue to share.

Yet your story and your success with your boys, oh my, you are stupendous. I am a mom and a retired occupational therapist after a 40 year career in special needs. You have caused so much growth with your boys to bring them from where they were when they came to you. They’re happy and walking and skipping on a balance beam and using forks and utensils!!!!!!!! So I did not knew about your boys, and have to say - you and your husband are amazing and extremely compassionate people. To adopt 3 siblings toghether, and all of them with heavy struggles is not an everyday thing. You can be both not only proud for being able to rise those children beatifully (I loved the short video where they hug and kiss and show great love to each other), but for serving God and being an example of pure love for people and life. Oh my gosh, your stories infertility I can definitely relate to as I had to undergo IVF and have surgery to be able to have babies! It was a blessing in disguise though because the whole process brought me a million times closer to God and he blessed me in so many ways that I can't even explain how grateful I am for all that he's done for our family 💕 I will pray for your beautiful family!

    Your video randomly showed in my feed and now I've subscribed! The Lord has also been showing me the same - the more i stress about stuff and minimalism the more he's making me realize about the stuff AND minimalism easily becoming idolatry and putting him above all of it. God bless you sister!

    Thank you for being a light in the RUclips world! Honestly, I love your videos because they seem realistic and authentic! I love Dawn and her advice, but she seems to have her life way too put together for me. I am not there in my minimalism journey.
    Also, I lost my father suddenly from a heart attack 6 years ago and my entire life turned upside down and I have never been the same. If you have any bible studies on how to heal, please let me know. 🙂

    I do enjoy it when you talk about minimalism, but I love it when you talk about our Lord. I’ll be here for whatever you want to do here on your channel and also on your podcast. I want to continue to develop deep faith. Thanks for walking with us. I love you.

    Oh my … I can see you are close to God’s heart. How wonderful to hear you speak. I’ve found our stories are filled with much more suffering (and joys) than we expected. In it all though God is in it and over it with us! Someone once told me you don’t grow without suffering…perhaps that’s true. I’m in my seventies now and look back over my life with amazement of what God has done. May God bless you and keep you …. and your beautiful family too. Love from Australia.

    Beautiful video. How are the boys doing now? I have 2 adopted boys with special needs. They tried to tell me what i was getting myself into but it was way beyond anything i could comprehend before going through it. Worth it for sure. But you just cant be prepared for adopting special needs kids. My oldest i had endless sleepless nights of worry for him, his choices, and his future. We are on the other side of it with him now. He is 22, on his own, and doing way better than i or my husband ever imagined. Hang in there!

    I can so relate to your story of feeling that motherhood didn't looking like you thought it would. I have also felt like my daughter would have been better off without me as her mother. She has some special needs but masks well enough that to outsiders she just looks like a kid who needs discipline or isn't well behaved. I truly believe that I'm a bad mom when she can turn it off and on for strangers. I know in my head that this is just a reflection of me being "safe" to yell at or have a panic attack around but I often feel that if her problems were worse people would be more understanding. Which is a horrible thing to think!

      I can’t relate to this so much! In the right setting it can be difficult to see our boys special needs, and certainly when we were first getting started discipline looked very different for our family. Kids who don’t have a secure attachment don’t respond to the same discipline that a child with a lifelong secure attachment do. Hang in there mama! God is so good and created you specifically for your daughter! 💕

    I am new to your channel. I love your authentic message, this is such a breath of fresh air. I'm currently struggling with HOW to get rid of the stuff I've already decided needs to go. As a Christian, I feel good stewardship requires I sell and give to the poor. The money I raise goes to an organization that spreads the gospel world-wide. My community allows inly 2 garage sales a year, after 3 years and 6 garage sales, my garage is still full. 😢 I'm frustrated at the pace this is going. I feel ready to dump it all at a local thrift store and move on, but that doesn't help spread the gospel so I feel compelled to keep going slow. I'm also listing stuff on fb marketplace but that is pretty slow too. I'd appreciate any feedback you have on this - thank you so much! ❤

      I wonder if there is a ministry you could donate to? Maybe a ministry that helps people set up house, or maybe a Habitat for Humanity rehab store, etc.

    As humans, often we are alike in many ways, but we are ALL very much individuals. You're so great at sharing of yourself and leaving space for us to align with your efforts while we live in our own worlds. As long as we have God in common, we can help each other. Y'all are in my prayers.❤

    Be assured that you are giving your sons the best life. If they can, let them help you with some chores. I see so many parents consumed with giving their children more than what they had and they foresake giving them the discipline and work ethic they grew up with, which is needed much more as adults. God will continue to show you how to live.

    Lol, well, I don't have a dryer to fold stuff out of, but my laundry got under control when my dryer broke. I had to plan ahead a bit. Much to my kids chagrin I refuse to get another dryer because I don't want to go back to the piles of dirty clothes. So here is how my system works. I hang up the wet clothes to dry (if you are behind, wash entire outfits for people, and while that is washing you can check their closet and declutter stuff that doesn't work for that person anymore, doesn't fit, don't like, etc), but when I hang them up they go on the hanger that will go in the closet. No folding necessary. Shorts get folded in half coming off hangers, pants get folded in half twice. Hangers are limited so I empty the kids hampers, wipe them down, and pull stuff off hangers and put them in the newly clean hamper. Mine gets stack onthe corner of my bed and then go on an open shelf in my closet.
