My husband passed last year and going through items. I found Bibles from his grandparents, his parents, and his bibles. I filled 2 boxes of bibles and studies to a mission that sends them overseas.
As a former child in a non-Christian home, I loved receiving bibles from people, however used they were. I honestly didn’t know where to get a Bible and relied on the Bible’s people gifted to me ❤
That's wonderful! Thank you for sharing that encouragement!
I recently had to get a new Bible because the print on the one I had was just entirely too small for me to read… I’m getting older, lol! So I decided to declutter some Bibles. I did, however end up keeping the Bible I purchased in Ireland and the one that I was given from my university when I graduated as keepsakes. The rest went to a ministry that gives them out for free. I transferred by notes to my new one…it was great to remember the sermons and studies that they came from.
I love it!
I have started a flea market ministry & I have a call out for people to let me rehome Bibles. I get donations & give them away at the flea market. Some people are shocked that they can get a free Bible just for asking.
Wonderful ministry!!
@rondamcfalls7696 what a great idea!
Thanks for addressing donating Bibles. Inheriting Bibles made us face this issue, too. Adding: scrub out family names & birthdates before donating.
A few weeks ago, I had decided to declutter my bedroom starting with a shelf full of bibles and study books. Apparently, I went through a phase during which I collected all sorts of different Bible versions. (Plus, I recycled 2 that had fallen too many times and the binding was a disaster.) I am go into to bring all these odd versions that I never read to the Salvation Army and the ones that are so big that I would need help carrying them (LOL) and all those versions that I don’t actually like (especially the amplified version - I can’t deal with all of those words - you can’t memorize scripture from that version). It seems somewhat wrong but I know that if I want another wording, I can just look it up on MY PHONE! What a blessing that is. So thank you for discussing this. Now I don’t have to feel so guilty!
I have also decluttered study and reference guides that I have never used. I am keeping my favorite Bible scholar's set of books (J Vernon McGee).
I was thinking about the cooking video you did w your Mom last year, so I re-watched it and I am going to make those muffins this weekend. Would love to see another cooking video, that was so much fun! We have 7 people and 7 Bibles 😂 I like your study and devotional suggestions.
Hey Michele! Maybe toward the end of October we'll do some cooking. My mom will be back our way around then. 💕
❤ I get up the early purpose, I get dressed, go to our main floor, get my coffee, and then on to my personal time with God. I have a 3 tired cart on wheels, that's my potable office with my study materials on top shelf, then the second shelf is all my pens, pencils, highlighters, etc. Lots of colors and options!! I use sentimental coffee cups or jars I didn't want to use but not get rid of un my decluttering.
The cart slides in and out from behind my chair, primarily pulled out! Lol
Thank you for a great video and the links. Great ideas for gifts or requests for myself. 😅
Sounds like you have a great routine! Way to go!
@@TheAtWhatCostBlog my kids are 18 and 23. Getting them to school helped me 😉
I appreciate your willingness to share that you struggle with your faith practices. It gives me hope.
I went, out of curiosity after you started to talk, and counted my Bibles. 33. I have 33 Bibles.
You win! 😂
I love Bibles... consider myself a collec...hoarder. Finally found a Bible I loved, and felt ok decluttering others I had around. Kept several, which is good, because when my daughter asked for one she could understand, I had one that I had previously used that I could send her. It was easier to declutter when I found a place to send them...
This is a very timely video for me. Thank you for sharing resources and tools you have found to be helpful. I am excited to look into your recommendations as I want to try to be more intentional in my devotion time. It’s definitely limited with two littles and a third on the way, but you encourage me to go for it. I too want to grow in my prayer life (sending up flairs is a great description 😂), and am going to definitely check out the devotional you mentioned. I truly value your content, Sister in Christ!
Listening from Oz
Lovely. Thanks and God Bless.
Love my coffee in the morning as I start my work day. Favorite flavor hazelnut.
Good choice!
Like the haircut. Looks good. 🙂
Thank you! 😁
Hi Marybeth! Do you have the regular, condensed, or student version of the reformation study bible? Thank you for the resource recommendations! They are so helpful.
It’s the condensed, and as of this moment it is on sale on Amazon. ESV Reformation Study Bible, Condensed Edition - Turquoise, Leather-Like www.amazon.com/dp/164289172X?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_W9A1K0FVHFPVS7N4D8H6
you have the book' another gospel' on the table. Have you read it read? I just got it a few days ago.
That's the book I've been working through. It is soooo good! Highly recommend.
So... I have this old paperback Bible that traveled with me for years. There are notes in it AND some of the pages are loose and is so delicate that I don't use it anymore, and have replaced it...but what do I do with it? ... if it were a regular book I would recycle it but its the Word... what do you suggest?
If they has sentimental value you could save them in a memory bin. You could also pull a few of the pages out that have really meaningful notes on them and save those, if you think it would be worth it you can also have the binding redone on them and pass them along. But if not, I think it's okay to recycle them.
Hello , do guy have a link for the Jude bible study you mentioned ?
Here ya go. It's a study by Jackie Hill Perry and so far I've really enjoyed it. amzn.to/3rAXGX9
@@TheAtWhatCostBlog thank you !
We've donated extra Bibles to a prison ministry and a homeless shelter. My dilemma is 3 Bibles that are falling apart. What the protocol for properly destroying them?
I can't tell you what the protocol is for 'throwing away' Bibles, but I want to just say I'm so grateful to whoever sent a small, old Bible to the rubbish dump 49 years ago, because my brothers, during one of their scavenger hunts at the dump, brought it home and...to cut a long story short...I read it and was born again through it, at the age of 14!! God never wastes an opportunity to get His Word into the right hands at the right time!
That is incredible @1974AMDG!
@@1974AMDG wow! That's awesome!
