Bro thank you so much, ford might as well of explained this process in hieroglyphics on their site. Couldn’t for the life of me figure out why I had 6 different files. Followed your instructions and worked right away with no issues.🤘🏼
Your video helped!! Nobody else mentioned the thing with safari automatically unzipping the files and I was stressing for over a hour till I found your video. Thanks boss
Thank you so much for this video. I've spent the better part of 24 hours reading and trying the things Ive found on other forums. I'll bet I've made 20 trips to my truck with my USB drive with no luck. Your tips worked on the very first attempt. my biggest takeaway, do NOT use Safari. Thanks again
Your a freaking genius!! I had been doing what the website said and talked with sync for almost 12 hours trying to figure this crap out and I followed your video like 3 times to duplicate your instructions and it’s finally updating from sync3 v1 to sync 3 v3 as I write this. You have gotten me further at this point than anyone else has. Thank you so much for your help.
The issue with Safari is in the preferences. Go to "General" in your preferences and then unclick the "automatically open safe files" checkbox. If this box is checked, the download is decoded automatically by your Mac. Because the program that was used to consolidate the update was Stuffit, one MUST use Stuffit Expander to un-zip. The download and decoding of the zipped file will occur perfectly. I followed the aforementioned protocol and the upload to my SNYC 3 went without a hitch. Only took 18 minutes. Also, you may remove your USB AFTER you hit the close button on the screen. Just pulling the USB out without first pressing the close button does not eject the media properly. This results in a failure to copy the xml file that is necessary to log into your Ford account the fact you have indeed updated your SYNC 3 to the latest version. Hope this clears up some of the loose ends on Geo Cap's excellent video.
Saved me a lot of frustration. It was Safari giving me all kinds of problems, as well as unzipping with the MAC unzipper thingy. The Unarchiver worked great. Thanks for this video.
Great video. FYI everone- if you are starting with version 1.0 I had to go version 2.2 first and then to 3.0 in my 2016 Ford F150 I just bought. I found the file in a FORD forum googling upgrading from 1.0 to 2.2
Thank you very much for this video! Using Firefox instead of Safari for the download was the solution for my problem. Couldn't find this hint anywhere else, specially not on any Ford Website! Cool!
This helped me!! Not using Safari was the key, thank you so much! Would like to add that if you are unzipping in the "Downloads" folder, you might see the same issues. Not exactly sure why, but moving it desktop and unzipping there seemed to work better
Thank you so much for this. I followed it exactly as you explained and I had no issues at all. I appreciated that you explained it from a Mac as that’s what I am using and my first attempt before watching your video was a complete fail. I updated from 1.0 to 3, yikes not even sure how it missed the ones in between when I have it set to auto update n it just checked a few weeks ago. Thanks again!!
1st, thanks for the tutorial. I did as your video said and thought I had it. I did not. Searched another video and it is a 2 part update. Plugged the usb stick back in and waited about 5 minutes to do its thing. Got a prompt to restart the truck and viola. ( late ‘16 F150 sport) thanks again. Gonna hit the sub button now.
Just now updating to 3.0 after struggling to unzip the files properly. Your tip about using The Unarchiver app (on my MAC) did the trick to unzip my files properly. The owner.ford.com website needs to update that piece of tip as Stuffit Expander does not work at all and will waste your time .... As my software was on software version 1.0, USB was the only way to upgrade my software and no wonder dealer never did so ... Thanks for making this video!! And soon off to upgrade the USB hub so I can take full advantage of Apple Car Play.
Thanks for instructions, video helped update my F-150, previous software version 2.2 updated to 3.0 without problems. Critical step when using Safari was disabling Open "safe" files when downloading. It only took about 20 minutes to update and write .xml file to USB.
I want to share what I did. Mine is a 2016 F150 Platinum US import Downloaded the update from 4dtech.com I did exactly as you said but used an 8GB USB stick and started the update, it took around 35 minutes for the first installation process. I waited another 25 minutes for the system to reboot by itself but it never did and I gave up. As I got in my truck today I noticed a difference, I checked and its updated to sync 3.0 It works just fine with carplay as I installed the USB hub which I recieved in the mail yesterday from the US. Thanks for the video mate !! Couldn't have done it without watching it
bani7asan i am glad it worked out but try and always download all updates from the official ford portal to prevent any problems. Thanks again and please help a brother out and subscribe
I tried downloading it from ford's owners website but it's unavailable here in the middle east and I have to go to the dealership and have them do it for around 80$ Already subscribed mate Cheers
I can tell you if you are using a MAC to do a SYNC 3.0 update using a USB you must first uncheck the box "Open Safe files after downloading" in Safari, under Settings, then General. If not, the path to the files in folder SyncMyRide will be incorrect and you will get a lot_error05 fail. I just did this using the "The unarchiver" program and it worked great. Also do not remove any files, but do make sure you move the 3 files above the zip file. You can unzip everything in your USB. It took about 15 minutes for the update, and I used an 8gig USB.
Hi Rein Voigt , i am glad it worked for you , there wasnt any good videos showing what to do so i said i would try and help people out. Please subscribe and thank you again!!
Just bought a ford says my sync 3 is 2.0 and needs to be updated. I am going to use your instructions. How long do you think the update will take? Thanks any way for this video most appreciated and hope it works.
Just completed my update using Mac and USB. Will just stress three notable items. If using Mac and Safari must uncheck OPEN SAFE Files in Safari PREFERENCES/GENERAL. If you do not then Mac will automatically unzip file after download to a non-useable file setup. Once done that and then downloaded should have .zip file You MUST unzip this using STUFFIT Expander. available Apple App store free. This will expand it properly, ready to copy files over to USB ( remember USB must be formatted exfat ) When first plug usb into port on car nothing indicates upgrade started etc could be 5 minutes. After that should get UPDATE IN PROGRESS on screen upper header. Took 15 minutes ( on my Edge 2016 ) after got that until upgrade complete showed. NEXT remember after removal and shutdown car musr remain OFF for 5 minutes to complete process. After that start up and all should be good, check version 3.0 should show.
Glad it helped! With regard to whether upgrade is worth it, I figure most upgrades also have under the hood fixes etc that might be useful though unknown to us. I wanted ability to add WAZ as an option actually appearing in my screen. Though it indeed works okay I find WAZ to be lagging between phone and screen. Using iPhone6S latest upgrade current.
Thanks for making this video! I had been trying to update via Wifi and it won't work.. I did exactly what you did and it worked just fine for my 2017 Escape. After I plugged in my flash drive, with 3 minutes it said 'Updating System Software...' and then 15 minutes later it said update complete!
What happens if it's already doing an update using the Wi-Fi can you cancel that and use your USB stick instead doesn't matter if the USB stick is 64 GB
Thanks for the video I spent hours trying to update my software. I did not format to Exfat which was my main problem I’m guessing. Used a Mac and a windows computer and could not get anything to happen!
I know i am late to this discussion but i did not even know there was a new version until today. I followed all the steps you laid out and let the software update screen run for about 1 hour and nothing happened. So i shut the truck off for 5 minutes and came back and it says updating software when the usb drive is removed and wont go off. Do you have any suggestions of how to fix this? and have you been experiencing any lag when you hit buttons because sometimes it will take 5-10 seconds for my screen to respond and change radio stations or screens. Thanks!
So this probably the most informative video out there about updating your SYNC as well as how to format your usb. Unfortunately for me every time I tried it, and i tried at least 3 or 4 times. The update would get to a certain point and then a message would show “Updating Sync Image” followed by “Problem detected with usb storage device. Please contact SYNC support or try to download the update again. Remove the usb storage device to cancel this update” and I tried it with 3 different USB’s. An 8gb, 16gb, and 32gb. Any ideas or did you have this issue yourself at one point. Now I have 2013 Ford Raptor if that makes a difference. Any help is appreciated
I had the same issue. It was the files having "SyncMyRide/...." at the beginning of the name. You will need to remove this from EVERY file to just have the actual file name. You may also need to create create a folder labeled "SyncMyRide" if this is not automatically created and dump all the files you just removed the "SyncMyRide" portion from the name and dump them in there to get the 3 noted in this video. I did that and my car updated with no issue
I am having the same error message trying to update my 2013 F150 Limited, and I have tried many times to perform the update, but keep getting the error message: “Updating Sync Image” followed by “Problem detected with USB storage device. Please contact SYNC support or try to download the update again. Remove the usb storage device to cancel this update” I get this error message every time, at step 5 of 6 in the process. I contacted the Ford Sync folks via text chat and was told to not use exFAT format as stated on the website, but instead use FAT32. I then formatted to FAT32 but got the same error message. I am using a 32GB Cruzer Glide by SanDisk, and Windows 10 on my computer. The Ford Helpline told me that since the procedure they provided doesn't work for me I need to take the vehicle to the Dealer to get the update done. I contacted my local dealer and was told it will cost $150 to perform the update. At this stage, I may need to save myself the aggravation and let the Dealer do this update. I have spent the last 3 3 days trying to get this update done, and frankly, don't have anymore time to waste trying various ways to get this done. I am very disappointed with Ford and Microsoft that they make it such an awful experience to update the SYNC system.
I'm attempting to update a 17 Ford escape I just bought. I've tried everything but I only have a chromebook and there are no directions for it online. I'm stuck on downloading the files to the usb stick. Help...
I am not familiar with chromebook but i am pretty sure its relatively the same thing. I would Ask to borrow a friends macbook or many staples allow you to use macs for a small price... good luck
I followed this video to the "t" for my 2016 fusion - with the files you may find they start with "SyncMyRide/......" you will need to remove this from EVERY file to just have the actual file name. You may also need to create create a folder labeled "SyncMyRide" if this is not automatically created and dump all the files in there to get the 3 noted in this video.
Thanks for the video! Here's a question: I own an 2016 Explorer and originally I had SYNC 2 on my car then I purchased the upgrade kid to SYNC 3 and it's running version 2.3, so when I enter owner.ford system shows my car on SYNC 2! So, how can I download the V3.0 update?
Ali thx for watching , all you need is someone to download the file for you, pretty sure you can find it on a few trustworthy sites on the web. If you cant get it let me know and i can always send you my usb. Please do t forget to subscribe
SYNC Uses the flash drive as a space to move files around and do installation tasks so it needs a bunch of extra space to do this since its internal storage is very small.
I have a Lincoln with Sync 3 v1.0. My dealership told me I have to pay $300 to get 3.0, but obviously I can download it to a USB drive and install myself using these steps. Why would the dealership be charging this? Am I missing something? I don't want to royally screw up my new MKX, but at the same time, I want the 3.0.
Have a 17 plate Focus ST-2, currently on Sync 2.3, trying to update to v3.0 Formatted THREE pen drives to exFat, 2 x 32GB and 1 x 16GB, put update file on drives as expected, SyncMyRide folder and the two other files are in the root, plug it into the car, recognises the USB and says "indexing" with a long line of letters and numbers, it then disappears before returning again stating "indexing" with the same string of letters and numbers, it then does nothing. Having looked around on google people with a similar issue have said they got it to work by formatting the drive to FAT32 (despite the ford instructions stating exFAT), I'm in the process of trying this now. Also, can't use WiFi update either, tried tethering it to my phone via personal hotspot but it just scans for updates for ages, and then fails. Will report back if I can get it to work.
Hi, Thanks for your reply. I was able to get it to work in the end, initially I tried to use the FAT32 key, which after being plugged in for about 8 minutes popped up with "installing system software", i'm amazed at how little prompts or notification you get, you can easily plug it in and think it's doing nothing like I had spent the entire day doing, without realising I just had to leave it plugged in for up to 10 minutes for the update to start. On the FAT32 one it started updating, and then restarted, then sat on "updating system software" for over an hour and a half, I realised it wasn't actually doing anything so turned the engine off and turned on again, still said the same thing, so performed a master restore. I then decided to just try the original exFAT key with the files on it, so plugged that in, it took about 4 minutes for it to start installing the update, and then sat on "installing system software" for a good 45 minutes. Just as I was getting concerned it was possibly not updating, and just happened to look over at the updating system software banner at the top, it popped up with "installation complete". Safe to say I then pulled over, and restarted, and it worked! Updated to SYNC 3.0 The main reason for doing this was for me to get Waze working via AppLink from my phone to show on the screen, eventually after fiddling about and much googling I got it to work, however frankly in my opinion it wasn't worth the time or hassle because the Waze app just seems really crammed onto the screen and doesn't look right orientation wise, far better using the standard SYNC navigation module if your car has it (mine does). I've seen plenty of people posting on SYNC 3.0 saying they can't get Waze to work, I had the same issue but it DOES work, you have to do the following in this exact order for it to work: 1. Make sure your iPhone is NOT connected to the car via USB OR Bluetooth, also disable Apple Carplay through the settings, then apple car play preferences menu, select your phone and hit "disable". 2. Make sure you have Mobile Apps enabled, I think it's under the icon at the bottom that says "Applications" or "Mobile Applications". 3. Launch waze app on your iPhone. 4. Now connect the lightning cable from your iPhone to your USB port, Waze will not work over bluetooth, has to be connected via cable. 5. After approximately 5-10 seconds Waze icon loads and launches under the applications bar on the screen, click on it, it will load on the car and your phone screen will go black stating "for your safety", this is to stop it from distracting you as you drive. 6. You may or may not then get the following message on your car, "waiting for device", the message just sits there and does not disappear, what you have to do is then leave the Waze app running on your phone, and disconnect and reconnect to your vehicle via the USB cable, it should then relaunch Waze after a delay of approximately 15 seconds, and should take you straight into the navigation menu. Also, if the GPS position on your Waze doesn't update to show you are moving, make sure your phone is UNLOCKED and not in standy/sleep mode with the screen blank. You HAVE to leave the app running with the black screen showing "Locked for your safety" for the GPS to work, the minute I unlocked the phone the GPS updated my position on the Waze app and actually registered the car as moving.
**Geo Cap** When the download is put through Archiver and I have the three items to put on the thumb drive on being the Sunycmyride folder. In the syncmyride folder there are seven files but are not unzipped. Is that the way those seven files are supposed to stay, or are they supposed to be unzipped?? I am working off a Mac as well, tried to install the updates three different times without success. I even had my daughter try to download the new version on her Windows computer, and still can't upload into my 2016 F150. Not sure if its because my version in my truck is version 1.0. Needless to say I have burnt allot of gas trying to do this stupid update. Not sure why Ford doesn't offer a thumb drive already loaded to make life easier.
Douglas Bell i show exactly step by step in the video. Look at the files i have in the video that is exactly what you need to have. You can always go to the dealer to update it but that will cost you some dollars , i suggest watching the video again and follow step by step , if you still need help post here i will answer
Yah I have watched it a few times. I checked to see if my files look the same as on your screen and they do look the same on mine. When you opened your syncmyride folder it looks like you have 8 folders and not six as you said on the video? I was trying to figure out a way to show you a screen shot of my thumb drive but I guess I can't upload it here. I am kind of surprised its not working. I wonder if its because my sync version on my truck is 1.0v maybe I need to upload the next version and then the 3.0v??
Douglas Bell you do not need to unzip the files further only have 3 files like i show in the video. You do not need to be on v2 to go v3 . Also try another usb b key and make sure your key is properly formatted to fats32. Lastly i suggest you have only the files on the key
UPDATE I tried every option to try and update my sync system and nothing would work. I eventually gave up and called Ford's support to help. The first time I called I talked to a rep that seamed like we had it figured out, but it didn't work. Called back again a few weeks later to the Tech support team, but this time another Tech said to do a Master reset on the system and wait about 15 mins. and try the update. I did the Master Reset and tried the update and boom it worked after about 20 mins. So for you guys out there that have trouble trying to do the update. Do a Master reset on your system, wait 15 mins. and try the update. And just so everyone knows the update can be done while your driving. I updated mine while I was driving because I was tired of all the gas I was waisting trying before.
Half way through unzipping the file with The Unarchiver, I get an error message saying ‘Could not unzip SyncMyRide... error on decrunching’. It then gives me to option to continue unzipping everything else. Anybody else got this issue or know how to fix? Thanks
I'm getting this error as well, tried different browsers and file decompressors in Windows and Linux and all say archive is corrupt....did you find a solution?
@@Mr_Smarty_Pants No joy yet, sorry! I have tried tonnes of different file unzippers and had no luck. I contacted Ford who state they are aware of the issue but havent provided a solution...
Thanks for video bro , I’m facing an issue with the gps as I have shipped the truck to the Middle East and the navigation map is not showing the roads and the destinations , if u zoom out and move it to the states it’s shows all the road but in the Middle East it doesn’t , I have the latest update on my ford raptor 2017 , if u could help or your followers could would really appreciate it
Hey Ahmed , you need the map package for the middle east. I am sure if you dig around the net you can find it otherwise your other option is buy the map package from ford...they sell them and they are not cheap... good luck hope this helped
I tried this but after 15 minutes of updating in my 2017 Edge, I received an error message that said “installation failed error code MEM_ERR03. Anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it? Have tried multiple USBs and from PC and MAC. UGH!
Hi S Taylor , follow the video and make sure you have only the 3 files on your usb key also make sure your key is formatted properly . It will work just go step by step good luck
Yes It didn’t work, same happened to me error MEM_ERR03, a called them and make purchase 32gb I formatted like you said but still saying error, what should I do? I have a Ford Edge 2017 :(
Re watch the video and go step by step . Also make sure you have multiple usb keys to try on. If you get stuck on any particular step please let me know
John Holland , after you see updating system software it shouldnt take more then 30 mins before it shuts off and turns in again.... Simply turn off thee car remove the usb . Lock the doors and try again in 5 mins ( with the engine on) let Me know how it goes
John Holland , i mention in the video what files are exactly needed on your usb key. You need to have 3 files . The last of the files has 6 zipped files in it they should NOT be unziped
Hi yaquidiaz , as i mentioned there are no prompts so you cant tell if its uploading or not. Just be patient and it should say updated. Hope this helps
Geo Cap got it! So this is what I did wrong. After unzipping your files, I was copying the entire folder into my usb drive. You’re suppose to copy and paste the three items directly into your usb.
Oh no, just followed Ford instructions and dragged and dropped, Copied, the downloaded 3 files to brand new 32 formatted USB. Ford says use correct port but there are at least 3 usb ports in 2017 Edge and nowhere says which one to place thumb drive in to run update.
Hi Goldmund666 , spotify is not a native app for carplay but you can use spotify on carplay. Meaning you wont have the functionality of the spotify app but you can play spotify music through carplay. Watch my other video on carbridge to see how you can get all your apps playing on carplay just like on your phone
Sheena Fisher there is no major changes but it does run smoother and for me the ability to always run night mode all the time is fantastic, the light blue was killing my vibe in The truck. Also some more apps are compatible natively
Hi hope all is good , as mentioned i would try formatting different usb keys and i would avoid using safari. Its some trial and error , i am sure you will eventually get it . Good luck
I don't get it, I did the update but the usb did not give me back the file to put on the site Edit: Ok I did your same mistake, I'll go back in the car cause I really need the map update 😅. Thank you so much for the safari issue solved
I have a macbook pro but i suck at computers, you talk so fast and click stuff so fast you lost me in the first 3 mins at formatting. ill have to keep searching thank you anyway.

Thats the least of it, the price of parts is another story since nearly everything is imported and customed (taxed)

“Updating System Software” it’s been 1/2 Hr so far, does it take longer???

cheers buddy you save me I must have downloaded the file about 60 times thinking I was doing it wrong Damn Safari. Definitely worth a sub
How long will it take to update the system??? After you put it on the usb drive then in the truck
Trevor Gleason , my pleasure glad i could help!!please subscribe and help me out
Thanks! Did the same pulled out the USB thinking it was done after driving for about 30 mins? Guess I will start again later.
What happens if it's already doing an update using the Wi-Fi can you cancel that and use your USB stick instead doesn't matter if the USB stick is 64 GB
Thank you so much. I had same problem using safari and converting it in normal file. Perfect descriptions thank you thank you 😊
You are welcome
Thank you so much!! This worked like a charm.
Damon Romano no problem glad i could help , please subscribe;)
Just now updating to 3.0 and I was struggling until I found this! Thank you so much for clarifying the update
My pleasure Aaron glad i could help!!
Thanks for the video I spent hours trying to update my software. I did not format to Exfat which was my main problem I’m guessing. Used a Mac and a windows computer and could not get anything to happen!
If your screen is not coming on on your car can you still update mine is stuck on a black screen now really frustrated
Says copying the SyncMyRide folder but it pauses and gets stuck on it copying that one folder. Any help or tips?
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong it keeps saying there is an issue with my usb and I have now tried two different ones. I have a 2014 ford edge
Watch the video i explain which usb keys can be used
Thanks for this video!
NetRiverside no problem please support me and subscribe
Thanks for your video, that has helped me.
AdventureXuk i appreciate the feedback please subscribe to support me
What version does it show in sync version? Mine says 18025.. Mine didn't have to reboot, it just said completed after about 10 minutes.
Josh Armour you are on the correct version , like i said its weird in that it doesnt really let you know what it is doing or when it is done
Safari was my issue. I finally used chrome and it’s installing as I type. Hopefully it works.
Thanks!
Hi Aaron Clayton ! I would
Suggest doing the entire process over again. I have zero lag and neither should you. Hope that helps
I believe you cant update your head unit , you have the sync 1 or 2 head unit. I dont believe you can update it to the new sync 3 unit...pretty sure
Glad to hear it worked , thx for the added info it will help a few peoplw
I am having the same error message trying to update my 2013 F150 Limited, and I have tried many times to perform the update, but keep getting the error message:
“Updating Sync Image” followed by
“Problem detected with USB storage device. Please contact SYNC support or try to download the update again. Remove the usb storage device to cancel this update”
I get this error message every time, at step 5 of 6 in the process.
I would
Ask to borrow a friends macbook or many staples allow you to use macs for a small price...
Geo Cap Thanks Man! I really would appreciate that. Because I am kind of lost looking for update!
Hello, how can I get the SYNC update you since I couldn't find any😅
Ali let me see what i can do do you have a email i can reach you at?
Geo Cap Yes I do: "hajji.ali.13@gmail.com"
FINALLY thank you!
why do i need a 32 gig when the update is so small?
billy ???? Hey it might but people are reporting installation problems with smaller usb keys, i would suggest stick with 32 gb
SYNC Uses the flash drive as a space to move files around and do installation tasks so it needs a bunch of extra space to do this since its internal storage is very small.
How do you unzip the file, you didn’t explain that, I downloaded the unarchiver app
Hello Sheila Ryzyi ! Worst you will do is the update wont install
Its called a scam lol smh
Have a 17 plate Focus ST-2, currently on Sync 2.3, trying to update to v3.0
Formatted THREE pen drives to exFat, 2 x 32GB and 1 x 16GB, put update file on drives as expected, SyncMyRide folder and the two other files are in the root, plug it into the car, recognises the USB and says "indexing" with a long line of letters and numbers, it then disappears before returning again stating "indexing" with the same string of letters and numbers, it then does nothing.
Will report back if I can get it to work.
thefiestaguy try different usb keys , the wifi update is not working stick with the usb update..follow the video it has worked with virtually everyone
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Updated to SYNC 3.0
The main reason for doing this was for me to get Waze working via AppLink from my phone to show on the screen, eventually after fiddling about and much googling I got it to work, however frankly in my opinion it wasn't worth the time or hassle because the Waze app just seems really crammed onto the screen and doesn't look right orientation wise, far better using the standard SYNC navigation module if your car has it (mine does).
I've seen plenty of people posting on SYNC 3.0 saying they can't get Waze to work, I had the same issue but it DOES work, you have to do the following in this exact order for it to work:
Question.. I’m on version 2.3.. i guess Waze is not showing because i don’t have the latest version?
Kelvin Banchon , waze is a native app , so just turn off car play in the settings and then the app should appear on the sync system
Does this void anything from ford if we do this ourselves?
Anthony Sanchez no it does not
I tried this method but after I inserted the USB in my car, it said one or more files did not install successfully :-T
Try another usb
Today I was trying to download the update, but I can't even get to the download page. It seems like the website doesn't work with Chrome on macOS...
Radi Varbanov try using firefox
Can I be driving the car while it updates?
Travis James it doesnt take that long to update , if you must drive i do not believe it will cause an issue
Yes, can confirm it causes no issues, I drove mine for over 120 miles whilst trying to get it to update, it did eventually update successfully.
Thanks for this!

When the download is put through Archiver and I have the three items to put on the thumb drive on being the Sunycmyride folder.
UPDATE
I tried every option to try and update my sync system and nothing would work.
Thanks
Try another file decompressor
I'm getting this error as well, tried different browsers and file decompressors in Windows and Linux and all say archive is corrupt....did you find a solution?
Again try another file unzippee
@@Mr_Smarty_Pants No joy yet, sorry! I have tried tonnes of different file unzippers and had no luck. I contacted Ford who state they are aware of the issue but havent provided a solution...
@@geocap7980 I have done, still no joy!
Keep getting the usb indexing message but nothing after that for 30 mins /:
I need help with update
Been sat for 10 minutes nothings popped up in the car to indicate it’s doing anything yet
I have a Ford Edge 2017 :(
I can not get this to work to safe my life I have been to ford and downloaded it like ten times and cannot figure it out please help
Re watch the video and go step by step . Also make sure you have multiple usb keys to try on. If you get stuck on any particular step please let me know
I got it to finally say on the screen updating system software but it just says that for over a half hour and Does not change
It worked thank you for all your help !
I give up, tried Mac and Windows and cant get it to update. Trying to get it to update thru my home WiFi the circles just keep spinning 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Dale wifi does not work yet
When I tried it got stuck on “Updating System Software” for well over an hour.
John Holland , after you see updating system software it shouldnt take more then 30 mins before it shuts off and turns in again....
Simply turn off thee car remove the usb . Lock the doors and try again in 5 mins ( with the engine on) let
Me know how it goes
After reading some additional forums i need to make sure I unzipped the files correctly
John Holland , i mention in the video what files are exactly needed on your usb key. You need to have 3 files . The last of the files has 6 zipped files in it they should NOT be unziped
Geo Cap also my usb says fat32, do I need to get one with exfat or can i convert my existing tome fat?
To exfat
How long is TOO for the update to begin one you have the usb in the truck?
Hi yaquidiaz , as i mentioned there are no prompts so you cant tell if its uploading or not. Just be patient and it should say updated. Hope this helps
Geo Cap in your video it states that you had a prompt after 4-6 minutes or so... I’m not getting that...
yaquidiaz , yes i did receive a prompt but its easy to miss , it appears at the bottom. Others have reported not receiving a prompt.
Geo Cap got it! So this is what I did wrong. After unzipping your files, I was copying the entire folder into my usb drive. You’re suppose to copy and paste the three items directly into your usb.
Geo Cap curious... what does the update change or allow you to do that you couldn’t before?
Oh no, just followed Ford instructions and dragged and dropped, Copied, the downloaded 3 files to brand new 32 formatted USB. Ford says use correct port but there are at least 3 usb ports in 2017 Edge and nowhere says which one to place thumb drive in to run update.
It says “Updating System Software” for like 5 mins then it disappears and nothing happens
Richard Vargas just leave it in , it will eventually turn off and turn back on and then you will be updated
I am having the same problem. I waited for 35 more mins but nothing happened. Have you get your issues resolved?
Will Spotify still work through CarPlay ?
Hi Goldmund666 , spotify is not a native app for carplay but you can use spotify on carplay. Meaning you wont have the functionality of the spotify app but you can play spotify music through carplay. Watch my other video on carbridge to see how you can get all your apps playing on carplay just like on your phone
So I did the update and it took about 15 mins. There’s honestly no difference. Has anyone else noticed this?
Sheena Fisher there is no major changes but it does run smoother and for me the ability to always run night mode all the time is fantastic, the light blue was killing my vibe in The truck.
Also some more apps are compatible natively
Plus my two files are white like paper not like yours, black with green on
Hi hope all is good , as mentioned i would try formatting different usb keys and i would avoid using safari.
Its some trial and error , i am sure you will eventually get it . Good luck
Thanks mate, car says upadating system software … so I’m hoping it’s working as not moving just up the top says that mate
@@geocap7980 does it stay saying updating system software? Or should it go to a screen which shows a losing bar ect?
@@MrConnorTubee it does not always show the bar
@@geocap7980 I’m now stuck with updating system software at the top when I turn car off and even back on, do you know why??
If anyone out there has a 16 f150 xlt, please help..tried 2 different times with no luck!
Did you get this fixed why wasnt it working
I don't get it, I did the update but the usb did not give me back the file to put on the site
Edit:
Ok I did your same mistake, I'll go back in the car cause I really need the map update 😅. Thank you so much for the safari issue solved
I have a macbook pro but i suck at computers, you talk so fast and click stuff so fast you lost me in the first 3 mins at formatting. ill have to keep searching thank you anyway.
Why does everything having to do with Ford suck ass?
No
