Umm, not even close to a good analogy. There is not way anyone with even a tiny bit of logical thought would make the leap you just described. No matter how you slice it the confederate flag represented/represents a war against our country as well as support of slavery and after that also symbol of racism. That being said at the time the writers and the prop department was ignorant to those facts and only saw it as an major symbol of the south because it was such a widely seen symbol in the south thus the show and the car were never meant to represent anything negative.
@adamn7516 first of all, the civil war was fought because of the South wanting to succeed from the north. The Confederate flag was not about racism. The KKK (who was backed by the Democrat party) adopted the flag as their own, which is why people refer to it as racist. And as slavery goes (you can Google it), the first person to go to the courts Demanding to own slaves was a black man. There was a bunch of blacks, Mexicans, and other races who fought in the civil war.
Please do research before stating you know facts.

From an objective perspective, what is the difference between the Confederates who rebelled against the Union and the Colonials who rebelled against the Crown? They both sought independence from their respective governments and were considered "in rebellion" by those governments. I'll tell you what the difference was between the two; the Colonials were successful and the Confederates were not.

The Stars and Bars flag is indeed a part of American history. The one with 7 stars was the first of the flags of the Confederacy. However, what is on the General Lee is often referred to as the "Sterling Banner" or the Battle flag of the Confederacy. It is different than the Stars and Bars flag.
It pains me that the people who want you to "lose the flag" haven't even watched a single episode of The Dukes of Hazzard, the very first episode of the very first season even shows the Duke boys driving around with an African American buddie (Brody) driving a 1971 Chevy Camaro, thrashing around and bumping with the boys... he didn't seem to have a problem with the flag on the Duke Boy's car and I don't think anyone else should either.

As for the General Lee, the Confederate flag on the roof is a necessity for it to be a General Lee and it's not a symbol of racism, but it is a symbol of southern pride, honor, and respect. I am a northerner who has lived in the south and have seen that flag being treated with respect by all races and not being hated.

41:15 - Unilug wheels had an insert which you are missing. The insert filled the oblong hole and the lug nut would have its shank surrounded by metal with no air gap. The reason was you could buy one set of wheels and by changing inserts, you could mount them on various vehicles. Stock wheels take the load of the car through the center hole in the wheel being in contact with the bearing hub AND it centers the wheel. Often Unilug wheels had an oversized center hole and the studs bear the weight by having no air gap between metal and the lug shank. The stud inserts also center the wheel. But with no stud insert, nothing centers the wheel and the load is held by clamping force on the wheel, which now over-stresses the studs. Cheap ones use an offset washer to center, but they do not hold extreme loads. While you may be fine in normal driving, burnouts and any hard driving can expect broken studs and lost wheels. You might also start seeing wheel vibration.
