This seems globally common, what a super discovery 😂 Now its at least Finland, Indonesia and Germany. Selamat datang. Tadik saya tingsl di Jakarta sampai dua tahun.
@@jeniferpaguia892 Italy could be the best place in the world, so much culture, history, cousine, paintings, sculptures, mountains, hills, seas, and so forth and so on. When I moved to the US from Italy I was so confused by all these acronyms. We have few but nothing in compared with how many of them are used in the US (even the country is an acronym). What is funny about Ismo for a foreigner is that we find all the same challenges no matter where we are from, here in the great US (but we still are here because in the end is still a great place).
We Finns still use the word ufo as a synonym for an alien, perhaps because Finnish word for an alien is avaruusolio (space creature), so ufo is much shorter. Ufopornoo! (Finnish comedy) m.ruclips.net/video/W5UkA2Gg-Cc/видео.html&pp=ygUJVWZvcG9ybm9v
Wow, I didn't know that until now. I watched ALF (I didn't notice the caps locks and neither did the TV guides) back in the day and I thought he or it was just called Alf.
Bingo! Question is... How do I know as a Swiss speaking French as mother tongue lol... I know that I know but don't remember when and how I learnt it lol. Sorry LOL 😂
The only actual acronym was UFO, and to be more precise, the way he said it like a Finnish person would. Because that's what acronyms are. Abbreviations that can be said like words.
The French also use too many acronyms. I even saw the same acronym for two different things in the same little safety book from a French company. EPI : "Equipement de Protection Individuelle" which are safety equipment (helmet, goggles, gloves...) and "Equipier de Première Intervention" which is the non-professional firefighter/medic. WTF LMAO !
The English language is lost. It's ridiculous, not the intended "cool". Too lazy to write the full word or to dumbed down 🤔? It saves like 0.00000054 seconds. Same with the grammar. There, their, they're, we were now was, of instead of have, no third irregular verb form anymore... To name but a few. Scary and unnecessary.
Most of these are not acronyms (except UFO as he said it). They’re just abbreviations. All acronyms are abbreviations, but not all abbreviations are acronyms.
I recently watched the old 1970 TV series "UFO", with SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organization ) protecting the world from UFOs. Although it was a mix of American and British cast members, I found it interesting that they too pronounced the acronym "UFO" as "oooofo".
We pronounce almost all acronyms like the words they produce instead of each individual letter in Finland. I think it's because of how good our writing system is where every letter is always pronounced the same.
Hi Ismo. These examples are initials. Acronym is when the initials create a word we say, like.... scuba, radar, sonar. If we just say the first letters its initials. Love your comedy.
My natural instinct is to be pedantic too. I managed to restrain myself until I saw your comment, then I had to pipe up and agree with you. Still, I wonder what ISMO standa for...
@@markjones1500It is an acronym for him because as you see in the video, we Finns pronounce it like the way it's written instead of each individual letter.
Acronyms supposed to make sentence or something shorter, like less syllables. What about www.what ever. Actually saying- World Wide Web is way shorter than abbreviation. And people's names - JP, CJ, JFK and etc. 😉
Plottwist: ISMO is an acronym for: International Smart Man Overseas
Same for us in Germany. Took me several years to understand that Ufo is actually an acronym 🤣
Ufo is initials. Acronym is when initials make a word like.... scuba or radar.
@@st.timmmyWell, given that the point of the comment is they say it like a word in German, there it is an acronym.
woosh @@st.timmmy
😂😂😂 yes I'm from Finland and same.
Yooefoh
He's the best at breaking down language differences. 🤔👍
and the people in his comment sections are the best at rearranging that same sentiment on every video.
That sounds like a roast
Ya 😂😂😂
In German, we also say Ufo exactly like that. :D
Awww curry wurst!!! Ich bin schon viel zu lange in America.
U mean just "UFO", not U,F,O?
@@wellthen...1539 Yeah, like "oo foe".
Hahaha as a Finn that is hilarious 😂
In Indonesia, we said UFO with that exact pronunciation as well!! 😁
😂... these are funny coincidences
This seems globally common, what a super discovery 😂

Selamat datang. Tadik saya tingsl di Jakarta sampai dua tahun.
Haha thats funny 😂
Same in Greece
Just came back from his show at the Improv in Brea. I don’t think I ever laughed this hard in my whole life.
Saw him at Lincoln Center last weekend - HILARIOUS!!!
In Italy also we pronounce UFO as in Finland.
I miss Italy!!! 😢 but it's so not the same now 😢😢😢
The same as for politicians, to tell the truth

In Greece 🇬🇷...we say UFO .. exactly the same way... and with the exact same meaning 😅😅😅..🙏🙏
in lithuania we even say ufonautas, meaning alien and its combo of ufo and greek myths lol

@@MostIntelligentManIn Poland we say it the same way as well. Our word for aliens is ufoludki, which translates to little alien people 😁
In Finland they even went a step further and created UFOPORNO.
Jonkun duunipaikalla!
UFO is an international word! 😁
And non English speaking people might now know that the TV show "ALF" is also an acronym, lol, closely related to UFO 😁

One of my favourite bits
It is true. Americans really love their Acronyms.
Ismo's soft laugh,, 😊
Same in Germany U-f-o 😆
Same in Greece!
What a trademark to just simply analyse what we say each day.. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ufo! ThereISMOre!!
Yes, this language has tons of them! You could "proly" do a
whole show on just that (Yes, we also Shorten-words, Yikes!)
UFO is nowadays UAP, which stands for “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena".
We here in Hungary also say "ufo" instead of "U.F.O.", in exactly the same way🙂 Is it a Finno-Ugric thing then? 🙂
As a german guy, former child (😮), i can confirm that 😂
He was like, "LOL? What??"
We do the same in Sweden, but not with all acronyms. It's ufo, but it's not usa, we do say U.S.A. We pronounce each letter in Swedish, though.

Love it ne er stop
We have 3 acronyms in Finland now! UFO, HIV and LED. And LED is said 'led' not 'l-e-d' too.
Is HIV pronounced "heev" or something?
In spanish we also say UFO.. xd
ISMO is an acronym too: I say many Oh-oh!
in Spanish we say ovni
I use chatgpt when typing with americans. They use 3 letters words a lot. 😅
U F O but not N A S A
Of course we say 'ufo', it's shorter that way!
No KLM this time? Because it's an acronym for Royal Dutch Airlines you know... 😅😂
ISMO stands for Incredibly Smart Maker Of Jokes but the letter J is silent
LOL!

This is how people type messages these days. Way too confusing for me who type full sentences.
Take off the forced subtitles, and make proper ones which we can select or DESELECT in the CC area.
