I’m widowed twice, 14 years with #1, 21 years with #2 and a high ratio of male friends. Marriage #2 way easier as I learned from my mistakes, not all of them as #2 would constantly tell me I thought too much. I totally agree she is spot on!!
OMG, some of this is so true! I once found a bumper sticker from one of our road trips while cleaning out a closet and taped it onto the fridge for decoration. After a week had gone by without him making any remark about it, I asked. He said that yes, he'd noticed and liked it, but had been afraid to say anything in case I told him it had been there for the last six months!

They don´t change and don´t know how to hide it. We women, on the other hand try to adapt ostensibly but we´re basically still who we always were. Then we get tired of acting and all hell breaks loose. She´s right. Get someone as similar to you as possible or stay single.

No, certainly not dumb. In fact I had an intellectual upbringing (though the rest of life has taught me to be humble as well).
I like to phrase it this way: "Men are not simple; they PREFER simplicity. There is a difference."
I agree with Monique in the sense that women assuming enormous complexity in the motivations of the men in their life are setting us both up for disappointment.

There exists for many couples a basic energy level discrepancy. I am 72, long retired, coasting on fumes. My beautiful wife (we’ve been together more than 35 years) has, at 74, enjoyed a 2nd wind, a 3rd wind, and is now working up to a 4th wind. It is fortunate that I am a big guy - I’m not easily blown about by much of anything short of a full gale.

If you want a man to change and try your best to make it happen, he will harden and fight you subtly at every turn. Men do change when married to loving women who accept them as they are, she never nags and simply speaks the truth as she sees it. Very few men have any defense against a woman who genuinely loves them just as they are and the result is him becoming a better man. It worked on me and I'm glad it did. Love is never wrong and unconditional love is incredibly powerful.

She is hilarious because she is right on the dot! I have been married almost 31yrs because I am not chatty at all (my husband starts talking to me when I haven't said a word for some time) and I watched my dad being how she describes men to be like. I haven't laughed so hard to hear the truth.
I remember watching a skit with a couples therapist explaining the differences between men and women. He stated that we men are simple and we like to keep things categorized so don't drive ourselves nuts. Focus on a few things at a time. Not multi-task so to speak but keep things simple. Then he explained women are like a box of mixed wires all scramble together but it makes sense to them. They're great at multitasking and their way of thinking is all over the place. Maybe not word for word in this explanation of mine but something close to this.
There is no such thing as multi tasking. You're switching between tasks quickly, that's something different. I learned about this from a haardvard doc who's making live streams and youtube vids to help gamers overcome gaming addiction.

Wait till you see the entire elastic (mine doesn’t like boxers; I don’t know if they have an elastic band) go bad but if they still hold up they believe it’s all good. I just throw what I perceive is worth tossing (30yrs).

First hold yourself accountable for why you are asking. Then ask the question or request the thing you are really seeking.
So "which colour shall we paint the wall?" Becomes "I feel like painting the wall this colour from Instagram but I'm worried it's too much"
The second one he understands your goal and your hesitancy.
If he's smart he knows his job is to state that he prefers the colour you want to try, so that if you regret the decision you can blame it on him when people visit
Women are the masters of avoiding all accountability and responsibility.
You can't change anyone you can, however, change the manner in which you interact to any particular conversation or situation.
