- 3 Types of Malignant Narcissist: Grandiose, Covert, Borderline parallels high-functioning, prosocial/communal, and low-functioning.
Low-functioning malignant narcissist utterly dysfunctional while high-functioning malignant narcissist professionally functional and interpersonally dysfunctional.
In low-functioning (borderline) malignant narcissist, human contact of any kind - from shopping to dating - triggers sadism, justified by grandiose contempt and haughtiness. The cumulative adverse outcomes are such that the malignant narcissist gradually drifts towards withdrawal and avoidance (schizoid behaviors) as a way to preserve ego syntony via alloplastic defenses ("I should waste my precious time and towering intellect").
Prosocial (Communal) Narcissist able to function professionally and interpersonally within an in-group. Directs his psychopathy and sadism exclusively at the out-group. Always charismatic leader.

I believe they are the biggest threat as well. I believe I have known two of these people. One was a “high school principal” who eventually got fired and kicked out of the teaching profession for using the “school” as his own personal piggy bank. And the other was the head of his professional “alternative medicine” organization for his country. These people are the very high level, socially entrenched, well disguised con artists; the true Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personalities.
I would love to see an in depth video talk on the topic of BPD with HPD ASPD comorbidities, I have been in a long term relationship (now separated) with someone who exhibited these traits in the extreme and you have only one brief video on the topic from 6-years ago. I know it’s asking a lot but another video idea for the odd couples series or a new series on horror stories, with a male covert borderline (I exhibit these traits) would be very much welcomed. I hope you’ll consider this topic for a future video. I have learned a great deal from you Prof. Vaknin and for this I am eternally grateful. Isn't this also true of victims of narcissistic abuse. I mean if they were isolated away from friends, family and work. Wouldn't this make it difficult for a victim to reenter society and maintain functionality. At the same time would most likely be going through all the stages of grief.

Lack of options. No ladies in his age wants him so he goes older and older ladies are starting to date younger men because the men her age dont want her or they arent good enough for her. The older ladies are still thinking they are young and sexy. I know it sounds simplistic but this is the occams razor answer 😅
