- NOTE 1: All of the titles for the last piece are incorrect LMAO (except for the first one). they should say Symphony no. 2 in C minor not Symphony no.5 in C# Minor
NOTE: NONE OF THIS MUSIC OR PERFORMANCES ARE MINE I JUST LIKE THEM

Finally, someone who appreciates wind band music. Maslanka 4 is such an amazing piece! Great picks all around!!
yeah, not enough people appreciate wind band stuff, but its so good. if you want, you should listen to Barnes Symphony no.5 Phoenix, another one of my favorites
@@evplayspiano I will definitely give it a listen!
@@evplayspiano update: That piece was awesome!! The first movement was by far my favorite though…
Mahler 5 is amazing, and believe me I love the Adagietto as much as anyone, but the other four movements - especially 3 - also contain some of the most powerful and beautiful musical moments i’ve ever heard
Cyprien Katsaris’ Liszt 2 is the single best I’ve heard. He plays it quite fastly but also improvises, just like I’d imagine Liszt would.
I haven't listened to his version, but ill check it out!
@@evplayspiano Cho’s is also great, but I feel like it isn’t the best recording; the audio balancing is a bit off during the final movement, it kinda sounds like the piano’s struggling against the orchestra rather than supporting it.
Totally agree with your first pick. Mahler 2, especially the ending of the last movement, is a life-changing experience.
Indeed
I love seeing some love for Chopin’s 3rd ballade!
its one of my favorite chopin pieces of all time! im glad you enjoy seeing it :)
I really like the way you enjoy the music! That scriabin concerto is really beautiful, thank you for introducing it to me!
That's got to be Bud Herseth on trumpet in the Mahler. Unmistakable clarity and intonation.
you have good taste lol
RUclips should have more videos like this one.
I agree. It would if I uploaded more D:
p.s. i might make a video in the next 1-2 months (O_O)
I also really like Tchaikovsky Symphony 6 movement 1, especially from the jump scare through the “heart wrenching” part
Love the appreciation for maslanka four. My favorite piece I’ve played in HS
another best moment is when the piano plays the final theme in rachmaninoff's piano concerto no. 2 movement 2 (adagio sostenuto). slays every time
And the finale of the third concerto as well
@@Dylonely42 Yes, his third concerto is so good. the chromatics section in the finale is amazing
it surprised me to find the symphonic dances here! they are so nice I really appreciate the parts you've choosen
Hey, thank you for introducing me to Stephenson and Maslanka.
Thank you for this. For me, the Mahler 2 is in a league of its own. I just adore this work and have done since I first heard it in 1973 at the Edinburgh Festival. The London Symphony was conducted by Leonard Bernstein and the soloists were Dame Janet Baker and Sheila Armstrong. The Festival chorus was cream on the top. I think I floated from the hall that night so captivated was I by the music.
appreciate the love for the classical sax in the rachmaninoff ❤️
wow, perfect, thank you for the list!! 🙌🥺😍
Allow me a comment on the Chopin Ballade: c# minor is not "out-of-nowhere", it is the sub-dominate of A-flat major - the key of the Ballade -, but in its minor-version. Since d-flat minor would have lots and lots of double bes, its enharmonic version c-sharp minor is used for simpler notation.
Oh I see that makes sense, thank you! Im not someone who knows a lot about theory, so thanks for pointing it out :3
one of my favorite moments is that opening cello solo to the brahms viola quintet in g minor i believe
basically the whole mvt is just amazing
I was just playing through some clarinet excerpts from the scriabin concerto, a piece that I was previously unfamiliar with until i was sight reading it today. Funny coincidence that this came up in my recommended.
Great list!
Wow I am truly honored to have the Ludwig van Beethoven appreciate my list!
I HIGHLY agree to the second clip of ballade no.3
Great content, I like :)
I must say I disagree with your comment on the Dies Irae quote. Imo, the biggest, baddest, most in your face quote of it is right in the middle of the 5th movement of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique. Wonderful piece of music. Nice work on the video.
Dont yell at me..... I haven't listened to Symphony Fantasique
Mahler's second. Incredible.
I agree enough with your list (1:06:00 I think so too). Mahler 2 is my second favorite piece of music of all time. I would have also added Rachmaninoff’s third concerto and Mahler 8th endings to the list.
yeah I agree that Rach 3 is a great piece, but I just barely missed getting on this list. And I adore mahler 8, but tbh the recordings on youtube (with sheet music) are not the best, thats the main reason its not on this list, and also people either love mahler 8 or they aren't a fan (which is crazy to think)
A Viral video!!! Gz!!!

YES!! also hi nooti o/

lovely!

this is nice
The last minutes of Rachmaninov - The Bells...
55:10 - this excerpt come from the 2nd symphony, not the 5th…
ahh ty I didn't notice that, I wish I could fix it but I dont want to render it again LOL
@@evplayspiano 😄
I suppose you have, but I think you should try listening to Wagner. It is really similar to those Mahlers, the Peterson, and many more.
W opinions
bruh list, no rachmaninoff symphonies or piano concertos??
Maslanka 4 is so good but it’s so hard lol
yeah so true, my friend and I keep trying to convince our band director to let us play it lmao
@@evplayspiano hey if your school has the full instrumentation go for it lol just be prepared for the pain💀💀💀
Getting the numbers mixed up in the Mahler symphonies isn't your only mistake.
In the second Liszt clip, you wrote "reminiscing" where you should have written "reminiscent."
In the Rachmaninoff clips, it should be "Symphonic Dances," not "Symphony Dances."
In the first clip of Mahler's 5th, it should be "punchy" rather than "punch."
In the third clip of Mahler's 2nd, it should be "climaxes," not "climaxs."
In the fourth clip of Mahler's 2nd, do you really want to say "finally the choir finally enters"? You sound like you have Alzheimer's. Also, it should be "softly," not "soft."
And I didn't even bother mentioning all your capitalization and punctuation mistakes--but LMAO! "Whatever, never mind"--RIGHT?
wat about the climax of ondine
This is a very interesting format. Imma do my own and indoctrinate people on neoromantism.
You literally have the same taste as me lol

Why do your commentary so quiets?
yeah that is a good question.....
Sorry but if it’s literally ALL Romantic period music it should just be called Best Moments in Classical Romantic period music haha
yeaaah I know, but I feel like it would appeal more people calling it classical music, because I feel like more people know it as 'classical music' opposed to 'romantic music', if that makes sense
You'll get more subs if you change your pfp.
at least I can spell better than you
@@evplayspiano he is right tho
@@evplayspiano what did I spell wrong?
@@evplayspiano I love your pfp
Oh dang just noticed that
Mahler is the pinnacle of boredom
im sorry, could you elaborate?
Yeees finally someone said it.
??????????
@Gary Allen ok elitist
sorry if i'm an asshole here, but most of the introductions you're giving to the clips are unnecessary, we can hear the instruments and we don't need you to name them and describe what they're playing
I think that, after all, this is an opinion video, so he is just explaining why he enjoys the piece, not how we should enjoy it. I like those introductions
I appreciate the feedback, but if I was someone who was just getting interested in this type of music, I would appreciate someone explaining why they like it/why it is good, just me tho
Delightful!
Why do you always put the same comment on several each videos ?
@@Dylonely42 To help the algorithm so that more people can find the videos I like. And support the videos I like.
