shu tsukiyama's character devolopment was the best one for me. he grew so much.
If only Sui Ishida didn’t get burnt out at the last 2 volumes, this manga would’ve been PERFECT. But it sadly a near-perfect story.
Intro was as cinematic as a movie no cap. 🔥
Late comment but the author Sui Ishida was releasing TG and TG:RE weekly, which caused the ending to be sadly rushed and is probably why all those text boxes had to happen. Sui Ishida doesn’t consider Tokyo Ghoul as an artistic success because of how he had to rush the story, his current manga which he is releasing on his own schedule is a lot easier on him and it shows in the writing!
Is the story not about Kaneki trying to find his purpose in life? It's a bit confusing but I came to this idea because he was first trying to accept that he was a ghoul after some time it changed to him trying to find the purpose of life. yoshimura told to Kaneki in the few first volumes of tokyo ghoul, that he belongs to both humanity and ghoul life he has a place in both worlds. That was a huge tip about the story.
To think of it, it a story with tons of meanings to it.
1st: Your never alone.
2nd: don't discriminate, so learning to accept eachother. We are all the same. Example all ghould and humans start accepting eachother.
3rd: There is no limit to wat you can achieve, only if you work to it with alot of pain and effort. Example from the torture Kaneki had to get stronger.
This is my personal opinion. I don't know if it's the same with you guys.
This video was great, amazing job. Personally, I find it to be my favorite series in fiction as it shows many important and serious themes throughout the different characters. I personally love Furuta. His character is so well written and misunderstood. I won't dive into detail here, but you can find in-depth explanations online. I definitely relate to a few characters, but I feel like I relate to Kaneki the most. It resonates with me so much when he tries to protect his loved ones even though he's struggling and going through pain as he doesn't want to lose anyone. I relate to this because my biggest fear is to lose my loved ones. Because of some trauma in my life when i was younger, I've always felt worried that people in my life would disappear, and i really feel like this manga helped me in a way. Anyway, I've just realized that I practically wrote an essay😅. Amazing video. I can't wait to see what's next.❤

The thing I love about Kaneki as a main character is that, due to the torture he suffers and his general life experiences, he has a fractured psyche.
He copes with life by adopting a personality that helps him obtain his goals. As the black reaper, he believed that his time was limited and that he would die in order to save Hinami, so he was mellow and withdrawn. As Sasaki, he was a bit of a push over and comedic because he was struggling to survive as an investigator in the CCG who if blatantly discriminated against him. There’s a panel where Sasaki acknowledges that his life only goes as far as he is useful. Sasaki just wanted to be accepted, even if it was all an allusion.
I get that Tokyo ghoul doesn’t appeal to everyone, but I’m glad you gave it a go. It’s absolutely my favorite. It’s kinda fun to see a main character really suffer

So not to get anyone's hopes up but they just announced that there is another Tokyo Ghoul project in the works for the 10th anniversary of the anime. Alot of people are speculating an anime reboot which would be amazing.
I love your idea about Kaneki having to stand up for himself moment, many people actually have problems with the ending, so youre not alone and i think thats alright even the author doesnt fully like what he did.
additional info: the author was actually having burnouts that time but he didnt want to stop because if he stopped he thought that he wouldn’t ever continue it so he rushed it the tone was completely messed up in the end in the process and many plotlines are shafted or just not utilized to their potential.

The concept is amazing (if not a little boring now) but the anime flubbed so hard, and frankly, the end of the manga is so rushed feeling.

Tokyo Ghoul is my favorite manga, but you are right that when reading it straight you can lose many details and you can see even more of the inconsistencies of the manga. The magical thing for me was that weekly the RUclipsr "Chibireviews" did an analysis of the chapter with his opinion or with the help of other reddit posts in which people dissected things like the references of the tarot cards in some characters, the hidden numbers In some manga panels, the path of the fool and his relationship with Kaneki.
To all this, the mangaka brought out merchandise such as poker cards with characters illustrations in which there could be foreshadowing for future eventsin the manga.
I think the same as you, the Dragon part and how the magic of friendship saves Kaneki was the weakest part of the series, but I think that by that time the author already wanted to finish the serie :(

@@samflood5631 mmm yes I think you're right about the love part, even so I was very hyped for weeks and I didn't like so much the predictability of finding him for the wedding ring, and not because it's wrong, its just I was already used to being prepared for the unexpected. I loved Shuu's speech and the fight between Quinx. It took me a few years to appreciate the fight between Furuta and Kaneki and his final meeting with Rize, so my perception of this part of the manga may change in the future o_o/.

I feel like I got some more direction now whereas before I was just trying out things and seeing what stuck.
