YEEEES! I'm on it! Thanks!
THis audio is so much better, thank you!
;)
Van is one of the most likeable persons I have come across. He wears his heart and his life on his sleeve as the saying goes. I wish more of us could be like him. I hope he stays in the public platforms, sharing his art and philosophies with the world -- because people like him make the world better. All there is to it. Thank you Van.
Sometimes I wish things were built to make the old digitizing process necessary. There's something about the process having to wait hours to digitize to work. But then I change my mind when I think about it.
I have been on a binge watching a lot of vans work came across this great work thanks for this
Van is insanely creative I love his style
Thanks Daniel
The influence Van has on Casey is unmistakable. That is no slight on Casey. They have a shared experience that informs who they became creatively. I see Casey as Jobs and Van as Woz.
So does that mean Tom Sachs is... God?
@@Mcm4 probably so
I actually kinda see that comparison. Kinda, no one will ever be Steve and Woz
@@hay_bail1 I only mean it in the context that Casey is more flashy and marketing driven while Van is more mercurial.
I've seen this before, but it's so damn good, I am watching it again!!! Van is a gifted Spirited Man genius
Thanks!
Beautiful. He’s an inspiration to all of us- thank you for showing his true personality.
Thanks Elizabeth
I appreciate the re-upload. My spirited man has an issue enduring sub-par audio and this is a major improvement! I'll watch this to completion!
Shit happens. Especially filming in the field.
@@BehindtheBrand Absolutely! Nothing more upsetting than doing a production, recording it and then finding out a technical fault disrupts the creation. Thank you for re-uploading the interview with this cleaner mix!
@@BehindtheBrand bit of a dickish response, stop being precious
So glad to hear Van's honest account of his journey. I think Van's work on the 4th Turning Book is the best, most creative, and concise explanation of Neil Howe's book. I think his talent and best days are still out in front of him. His honesty and self honest critique of himself is terrific. I hope to see more in the future.
One of the most truthful interviews about the process, great work!
Thanks for this re-upload with better audio, awesome interview!
Thanks for making the fixed audio version! It sounds so much better. I really enjoyed this interview..
Hahaha what a storyteller, he does not come across this animated in his vlogs….this is another side of him that I love.
This audio is SO much better. Thank you for taking the time to remix it.
So Brave... He definitely understated the shear terror just the smell of the smoke creates in your heart after you have gone through it even once before. Great wisdom as always Van!
wow, thank you for putting the extra time in to make this conversation more accessable
my pleasure Tony
Thank you for the reupload!
Thank you for this new upload! Watching this again and it's definitely worth it! 😎👍👍👍
I wish you had left a few more emojis to express your feelings... I'm thinking of an emoji right now but can't fin it on my keyboard.
Thank you so much for the re-upload with bettter audio!
No problem!
ENJOYED THIS EPISODE. THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS. KEEP IT UP.
Thank you so much for the re-edit! That's awesome!
Give the people what they want
@@BehindtheBrandAlways the goal. Not always possible. Definitely curious how you managed such a monumental improvement from your super wonky scratch track. Never know when I might need to save something, myself.
@@kimball_stone wing + prayer 🙏
@@BehindtheBrand 😂😂😂 Works half the time, every time.
He is so interesting, thanks so much for this Behind the Brand!
Van is such a fascinating guy. His stories brought back so many memories.
Thanks for watching Jay
@@BehindtheBrand My pleasure. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent conversation. Van's channel is one of my favorites.
thanks
Great interview! Audio was totally fine.
Van's energy is beyond infectious
i love van so much I've watched his vids constantly and would be extremely proud to be a mere minuscule amount of the man that he is.
When someone else talks about Van I get chills
Interesting to know that Van pursued an interest in fingerboarding for a while!
Definitely, that dude is pretty rational, love it; We need more of these types of people in this contemporary world :)
This video is just mind blowing to me, I don’t really know why but Van is fascinating to listen to
Cracks me up 24:08 ti 24:22, Casey as his french cousin Henri, and typical Gen X. Self Sufficiency... dead Classic.. Great Interview. I love the cadene of his speech, its like he thinks about every single word he says and its weight in a story and how those words provide an illustration.
this interview is the polar opposite personality wise of the interview van did with that hockey player! Love this one so much thank you
I got "Shopcraft as Soul Work" [Shopwork as Soul Craft?] years ago, and was very impressed and inspired by it - time I read it again :-)
Just a random side note. Elon did not start PayPal. He started a company that PayPal purchased - an online digital phone book company. He also did not found Tesla. I get your point but I see a big difference - Elon had money from his father as an investor that helped for his first company. Everything else after that was a purchase of a pre-existing entity. The big difference is that Van actually creates with his hands. He is an actual creator not a flipper or venture capitalist.
Elon Musk is a charlatan. It‘s an insult to Van Neistat to be compared to that guy.
Lol quit being bitter when successful people are praised. Dont suppose you know any better than the interviewer about the character and capabilities of Elon Musk.
This spirited man is happy to hear the spirited man more clearly now.
Sounds good. Consider subscribing.
great job reworking the audio. I heard the original version and is was pretty bad. This is a BIG improvement!
Creative people are my heros. Van would have fit right in with my buddies growing up.
As a younger brother, I say yes because younger brothers build off of what they have observed and been taught by their older brother. Their personality, swagger, attitude, and everything else is stolen from their older brother.
You presented me to this wonderful human. Thanks.
Wow, thank you Juan, hope you find more good stuff on my channel
Wow, someone did a stellar job on this! And making Bryan's sound worse to level the playing field was something I thought you should have done on the first version 😉
Classic back-handed compliment.
thanks for driving out to Van’s studio and doing the interview and including more footage in this cut as compared to the previous edition. The sensationalist title of implied one-upmanship between brothers which is non-existent with the Neistats is completely unnecessary. There are also more Neistat brothers than the lead characters of the HBO show.
Bro, this title is an homage take from Casey's mouth directly in his tribute video to Van when he launched TSM series.
@@BehindtheBrand gotcha. Good on ya!
Neistat Brothers ? Masterclass of storytelling .
The video is sick !!
What is the backround music? So much quality
that's my secret sauce
Best natural audio
thanks Barry
Great stuff!
PS: Do you call this audio quality a not sufficient one? I thought it was the main track, not the supplementary! LOL
Why is having OCD a negative in your eyes? Are you a doctor that can diagnose? Having said that, I think this is your best format to date. Great job.
Genius!!!
I hope Van knows he is one of those inspirational people.
What a genius.
oh thats so funny I knew he was going to say the town his friend lived as a child would be mystic Ct. Its an idyllic historic village that many would love to live in though I find Ledyard which is where he grew up to be just as lovely.
Which camera and lens have been used to make this video ?
the interview really clicked with the interviewee
persistence can lead to excellence achieved over long time
i'm going to have that embroidered on a pillow for my dog.
One of the 10 Bullets.
Wow i wish van should his energetic side in his video
Van is a really nice guy :) x
Thanks TAM
again.❤️
Here for the better audio
Noted
@@BehindtheBrand thank you for your work on fixing it!
Thanks for fixing the audio! It was unwatchable before
Van is one of the most fascinating creators in the world. I'll have to admit that I don't enjoy when interviewers (no offense) try to stir the conversation into "youtube territory": engagement, likes, audience, etc. instead of the art. It feels shallow
what do you consider RUclips territory?
58:11 Hope you have a backup... :-)
Lonely Planet dude. Rough Guide and Lonely Planet.
Van the man
Anyone else notice Casey on his tippy toes in family pic @ 3:33?
Thanks to Casey for intrude to “The Spirited Man” Van is such an interesting human!
Do you think you could give me Van's business contact? I'm apart of the TEDx team and would love to ask him to speak for us. If you could help me in any way, that would be great.
Send me your info and I’ll pass it along
Somehow - maybe it's the lighting, the camera, the glass, I don't know - it looks to me like the two persons are not in the same room. I know they are. But whenever the video cuts back to van with the harsh light on his head I feel some disconnect. 🤔
I think the europe guidebook is called Lets Go Europe.
Dude, when you said typical gen x, I instantly thought of how I convinced my mom at five that I could walk myself home from school and let myself in the house alone, for two hours before she got home from work.
Oh, and I was in kindergarten. And I also hated the baby sitters, so that's the why.
Dude, what happened to the Audio?
Way better thankyou
thanks
I thought Van was one of those artsy people, who is extremely talented. It was an aha moment when he said that you need to work hard. "It's going to take 10 years to complete a project." - people hate to hear that. Let's get back to wok.
i think it's time for HBO to pick up season 2 of "The Neistat Brothers"
He look very similar to steve jobs
Los dos son muy talentosos, casey aplica más entornos musicales, mientras Van es más silencioso para expresar sus ideas. Pero igual los dos son genios.
Thank you Google Translate ...
That’s a bold title for this video, but yes.
Go bold or go home
Heck yeah 🥳
He's way cooler than musk
;)
where does he talk about casey and say who is better ?
Adobe Premiere actually existed in 1997, way before Imacs came out.
🙌
lol
love the new audio version, the title is lame though.
James, this is in reference to what Casey & Candice said about Van in their tribute video to launch The Spirited Man series
is that 905 shooter from nelk?
906
Wrong, the gold is retention not subs :)
Lonely Planets - is this the book Van could not retrieve from his memory? It was the bible.
Van Gogh Neistat
Personal time stamp 41:10
I watched the whole thing . Explains Casey . But… why didn’t Casey help his brother ?
I think it was Van who didn't want to ask for help out of ego...
1:06:33 can we have your 2 cents??
Hitchhikers guide to Europe : )
thanks for watching Matt
hey hit me up
about audio
why?
@@BehindtheBrand Pick your brain , mang !
Millennials and Gen Z: Please watch this to understand folks born from 1965 to 1979.
Ha! Yes
scratch track honestly doesnt even sound that bad
Tatum O’Neal guys come on...
Comparing someone to Elon isn’t praise
ha!
Yes. Van is very talented. BUT WHY did you feel the need to ask in the title if he's the more talented Neistat brother? For all I know you might be a friend of Casey's and did this as a joke. In my opinion though, this is not something a friend would do. We all know how talented Casey is. They're DIFFERENT and both very creative. So why is it relevant who might be more 'talented'?
Yes, inside joke
You had me until you brought up Musk.
cowards don't fail
Elon Musk comparison didn't age that well
Talent doesn't exist. Only skill.
talent is the ability to get skillful at something
