If you hate the audio, here's my re-mixed full-length version with some background explanation of what happened: Audio re-mix: ruclips.net/video/6lHYu2H-A3o/видео.html
Thought it was my cheap headphones 😂
TYSM I HATE THE AUDIO SO MUCH AND THE OTHER ONE SOUNDS GOOD
I enjoy this more than being able to hear people swish water around in their mouths before they swallow. Give me the old AM radio-like sound, any day.
I literally watched the whole interview before seeing this comment with the link. Great interview regardless
You can swap the audio in the creator studio
I respect this guy so much and admire his work that I pushed though the terrible audio.
You're a real champ Daniel
@@BehindtheBrand Let me guess, is that some noise reduction software? crazy artifacts..
its great evertyhing (im suscribed to both cannels )but the audio is unforgivable
Hope you’re OK.
How is it that in the short clip the audio was crisp and here it sounds like it was filmed with potato
Casey Neistat has always been feeding the 25-year-old in me. Van Neistat is feeding the actual 44-year-old me. I consume every video he's in now. Thanks for this!
Thanks for watching Janne 👊
I really feel that! Van and Casey are both really intellectual in different ways
Same. I'm even 44 too.
Well said!
I couldn't have said this better if you gave me 10 years. #YouNailedit Also I'm 45 so right there with you.
man this guy...you can just tell he is a maniac... Van has so much passion and charisma for the little things in life. That is why his films are so beautiful.
They're not films, they're youtube videos lol
@@paulallen6992 No they are not youtube videos, they are short films on youtube and that's why its beautiful!
@@Andomaca1 Keep telling yourself that lmao. They're youtube videos.
@@paulallen6992 yeah they’re RUclips videos but art is art brother. The platform for how it’s distributed doesn’t make any less impactful. If Scorsese or Wes Anderson released a short film via RUclips tomorrow does that automatically make the films inferior in your eyes? If so I’m sorry you have such a narrow view on art.
@@deepdirt He isn't shooting on film, he's shooting video. They're videos.
He's like a crazy genius filmmaker 😮
Thanks for watching Ben
Van must start his own podcast! I could listen to him talk about anything.
He truly has writing in his blood. Not a single word wasted in his answers and he skips fillers. Great interview man
Thanks!
Thank you Van Neistat.
My 10 years start today.
🙌
I love that you can tell he's an editor because around 37:13 and 37:30 he repeats himself to give a cleaner audio take without any prompting. That's really considerate.
I love Van's series The Spirited Man. ...and RUclips's algorithm is working it's magic to find me this interview. Excellent interview with this humble genius. It's almost like Casey passed the torch to his brother. tons of respect for Van, Casey and Tom Sachs.
more like Van passed the torch to Casey
@@donaman3000 I agree, but doesn't fit the timeline. Tom Sachs>Van Neistat>Casey Neistat
He didn't know he was recording his own Masterclass. The tone of some Spirited Man put me off, this is incredible and now I get it.
thanks for watching
@@BehindtheBrand excellent interview
One of my go-to YT channels, he is original, focused, and a genius filmmaker. Period.
thanks for watching Joe
@@BehindtheBrand lol funny I am still watching as I read this, can not stop watching, great work, so raw and real.
This dude is so hyped on the way he talks about his passions 😁🙌🏾
;)
I love his enthusiasm for whatever he is discussing and his different take on everything he encounters. It's great to see how passionate he is about any of his work.
Van Neistat reminds me of myself a lot. To keep myself away from the darkness I must try to be busy. Fixing things is one of the best feelings. If I do nothing I go into a deep dark place in my mind. A place of self hatred. Self loathing. Walks in nature for hours and hours are also quite good.
;)
hooo-boy, that's some compressed audio!
This is the most I have lived into the past through another person, I can see where the story telling meets filmmaking
Van is surely one of the most interesting people ever (his nutso-awesome brother notwithstanding)! Thanks, Bryan!
Thanks for watching!
What a COOL Dad you must be!!
Thank you Van for being on this planet.
thanks Lynn
I don't know how to put this better but Vans passion makes me feel more alive.
I've just started the interview. Just want to say this guy's so interesting and refreshing from all the other "crap" we see on youtube these days. Genuine smart stuff... I rarely watch every video a channel posts like I do with Van.
Glad you enjoyed it... AND welcome to my channel. Hope you find more nuggets like this here among the 500 other vids I've made.
I love this guy, Van Neistat..warching from Singapore
I never knew Van went to WVU! That's awesome, such a small world
The audio is fine. I could understand that wisdom and heart were speaking. shit happens, and you still put this up for us. good luck to you and to Van, who is on a new ride!
No. The audio is not fine.
I think he's gonna be surprised at the NOT 10 yrs it's gonna take to build The Spirited Man on here...I've already told EVERYONE I know and more. BEST thing on RUclips. I'm Gen X and reinventing my nomad-figure-it-out-self once again so. Appreciate Van (and Casey) so much. Van's m'peeps. Love seeing Topanga too, one of my favourite areas on earth. Thanks for the interview.
thanks for watching Hez
@@BehindtheBrand Sub'd too ;)
@@hezebelbeing 👊💯🙏
So pumped to watch this
Even though Van's wireless mic seems off, Thanks a lot for this
Thank you for getting more of Van’s thoughts out there. Really appreciated this interview
Love his energy.
omg imagine how much wisdom will be archived on the spirited man channel in 10 years
I just want to thank the universe for giving us the Niestat brothers
Thanks for watching Denny
Van has such tremendous energy. I'm glad we have men who've gotten scrapes-and-bruises wisdom. Thank you for sharing!
great stuff Van! Thanks for having ambition and energy! its good stuff
This story is the most exciting thing I've heard all year.
thanks Courtney
Love the straight talk videos!
Thank you for sharing this Spirited Man behind the scenes. It really helps with back story for those who are creative. Rock on.
My new favorite RUclipsr, his storytelling and creative is unlike I’ve ever seen before. Its pretty obvious that Casey got a lot of his styles from Van. I stumbled upon “The Neistat Bros” HBO show on RUclips and binge watched. It’s a brilliant series, van was super cool then as he is now and is my fav Neistat
Thanks for watching Dan
Another fantastic interview. Love his passion!
thanks Ash
Thank you for this interview. You did a great job.
Thanks Preston
59:20 , This is an amazing interview...Artists need this so much right now. Thank you so much for this!

This is a wonderful interview. He is a great mind and brilliant story teller
Excellent. Great interview. Thank you for sharing 🤙

Candice was right. He is more talented. And smarter.
;)
I have loved every episode that he has produced and bought the sweatshirt without hesitation. Keep up the great work Van, I love your style of storytelling.
Much appreciated Bryce
Van is so damn cool. Thanks for the video man, really enjoyed it.
Great interview! Thank you for posting this. Van Neistat is amazing. His energy and passion is so inspiring. He makes me feel that at my age (52), I could even have a shot a RUclips with some vision and focus.
Thanks Martin
This has given me so much motivation!!
glad to hear it Rich
Van gave us so much in this interview. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Paula
This is so good, that I'm ok with the bad audio. Great job guys!!!

The motorcycle Jackie Earle Haley rides in Bad News Bears is a Harley Davidson Z90. Coolest kid ever.
Nicely done.

I appreciate that!
i respect this man so much

LONELY PLANET! This is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome, Van Neistat is really an original creator. I love his work. Thanks for sharing him behind the brand!
thanks
An entertaining video that gives us insight into Van Neistat's way of working and how he thinks. The "10 years" he says it takes to learn something well is arbitrary, but basically some time is needed to learn your craft and even more time is needed to have something worthwhile to say. I remember a travel journalist I spoke with years ago was often asked by aspiring travel writers: "How do I become a travel writer?" His answer was to spend years travelling the world, speaking with people, being inquisitive to find out how they lived, opening your eyes to observe your surroundings and how people interact with them. So it is not only learning a craft, it is also training the eyes and mind to tell a story that engages us.
Casey and Van both inspire me in different ways. I'm trying to find my way with my channel right now and I think I'm starting to find my groove! Thanks for just being yourself Van!
Fact:The fastest Formula One pit stop is 1.82 seconds, achieved by Red Bull Racing (Austria) during the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix at Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo, Brazil, on 17 November 2019.
not 1.7, but that is not important.
I really enjoy watching Van Neistat. I just relate to him
thanks Michael
So good! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
What a great guy!!
this guy reminds me so much of my dad its crazy
thanks for watching Angus
This interview is gold
🙏
Legends!!
This interview is excellent - I've been watching Van's films and wondering how he would talk about his work and life ; what kind of energy he would have; how does he refer to collaborators and mentors - it's rare to find an interview that exposes all that. thanks!
thanks Andy
Great interview, very engaging. Well done!
Much appreciated!
I am very glad that I watched your video!
thanks Anatolii
amazing interview , thank u
Thanks Ashton
This guy in unbelievable! Very talented. Especially the fact he can talk under water. Mind blowing
Dad jokes not welcomed here, take that sh*t to back to the gas station where you work.
This was such an inspiring talk!
thanks Jake
I freaking love this guy.
Thanks for watching Kevin
Great interview. Could listen for another 8 hours. Great interview style: good questions, but not dominating the interview. And Van is fantastic.
this man is amazing
thanks
This was very precious episode for me! 🙏🏻
THIS WAS AMAZING
Thanks Kent
I discovered Van in his HBO series he did with Casey -- been a fan of these two bros since. Been loving Van's Spirited Man Vlog series, it's really great. So cool to hear that he has the same love of Mister Rogers, and he's right: Fred Rogers was one our generation's touchstone. A Mister Rogers for adults is a fantastic concept.
thanks for watching Julian
Ten years. Great advice.
thanks Ben
A legendary guy❤️
Thanks Bikram
the legend.... Van! \m/
Great interview! Next time you’ve any issue with audio, I can help you fix it. Thanks for sharing this content!
I watched this entire video and I learned a ton...Thank You ✅🎥😃
Awesome! Thank you!
I connect with Van on many levels: a frugal GenX tinkerer creative aspirations. I am a huge fan of Casey and now Van and I am trying my darndest to make RUclips content. Thanks for this interview and the insight into the level of commitment and dedication it takes to be really good at your craft.
Me too! I'm such a fan of the DIY tinker creative thing! I've been this way for as long as I can remember!
awesome, man.
This is a fantastic interview.
thanks!
This is super great!
