  • Often overlooked by El Potrero Chico, Central Mexico is a rock climbing sensation in the making
Over the past several decades, Mexico has become a world-class rock climbing destination, in large part thanks to El Potrero Chico’s glorious limestone paradise in the north. But now it’s time for Central Mexico’s hidden gems to show their splendor from some of the hardest sport routes in the country to thrilling multi-pitch lines.
For the past 18 years, Climbing Guide Simeon Heimowitz has been exploring and developing routes all over the country. With three guidebooks on Mexico rock climbing to his name, he is an unparalleled authority on the country’s top climbing spots. Find out why he considers Central Mexico to be the new cool kid on the scene.

Nice job on the video, lots of info and a great photos and overview of the area. Would be interested to know what the covid situation is for people there and how it affects your guests, what they should expect, particularly this coming winter 2012-2012. Thanks again for the great intro.

Hey Richard! Sorry I missed your message. To answer your question as best I can. Here in Aculco(the town I'm based out of) people take precautionary measures very seriously. Everyone is masked up and vaccinated. Being a farming region no one can afford to get sick so we all work together to stay healthy. Airlines are very strict now about having a test done(and the paperwork to document the date) before anyone can get on a plane. So far this season not a single problem with anyone arriving ill. When it is time to depart I have a Doctora here in town that will administer the 15 minute test and document the results 24 hours before the plane departs the airport. She charges $15.00 and will make herself available when we need her. Even New Year's Eve at 7:00pm! We did give her an extra $20.00 for being so accommodating. I hope this answers your questions well enough! When your ready come on down to the land of eternal spring weather!

Super informative vid! Is it true La Peña is a pay to climb at the mountain? And for that matter are there fees to enter any of these places?

All that and traditional Mexican cooking! With Covid rearing its ugly head again I have chefs from local restaurants coming in to prepare breakfast and dinner for our guests here at the house. Totally convenient after pulling down all day! Be well.
