Simple advice from someone in his 50's. You are NOT what you do; not your job; not your hobbies. Don't let your identity get caught up in those. Those are simply things you do. Worry and work at who you are on the inside, your thoughts, insecurities, prides, etc. The places your mind goes when you are quiet are where you learn the most about yourself. Pay attention to that. Build up what you like. Work on changing what you don't. Your young body will become old but who you are inside will always be there.
@@GPMD606 I disagree but you are absolutely free to think that. I do believe that what you do matters. I do believe that what you do reflects aspects of who you are. What you do can even influence who you are, so choose wisely what you do. But you existed before you started doing a thing, you will exist after you stop doing a thing and you can decide to do something else. You are not what you do.
Props to The North Face for sponsoring the climb. I've been using their gear since the early 1980's and it's saved my bacon in a lot of extreme conditions over the years. Good stuff.
I bought a pair of those North Face slippers for men based on Eva's recommendation in this video. I'm glad I did. They are super comfy and warm. I almost forget I'm wearing them. I have chemo induced peripheral neuropathy as the result of a nearly a year of battling cancer. The neuropathy causes a severe sensitivity to cold resulting in tingling and numbness in my fingers and feet. I have tile floors in much of my house...so I was really needing some good slippers to insulate me from the cold tile and thus the neuropathy that comes with it. I had tried some other slippers but they were bulky and I had a hard time keeping them from falling off. These North Face slippers are great. So glad that Eva recommended them.
You show how to face fear, and when you conquered it, you’re humbled by the experience. You can reach the peak, and yet you’re always well grounded. Nothing but love ❤ for you, Eva.
Congratulations on your incredible achievement of summiting the highest peak of Mexico! It takes immense determination, strength, and skill to accomplish such a feat, and you should be incredibly proud of yourself for reaching the summit. Your accomplishment serves as an inspiration to many, and we are in awe of your passion for exploring and conquering new challenges. We believe that your dedication and perseverance will take you to even greater heights in the future, and we can't wait to see what other accomplishments you will achieve. Once again, congratulations on this incredible accomplishment, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
A few years a go I suffered what I thought was an anxiety attack. I was struggling with everything, I was feeling claustrophobic. even in large places like really big super markets if I couldn't see the door to the outside. I saw a councillor called Agnes , who advised me to read a book Called "Feel the Fear and do it anyway" written by Susan Jeffers. This helped with the massive adrenaline surges of fear. Anybody feeling worried and anxious should give it a read, it makes so much sense . My councillor Agnes was marvellous , talking to her and getting all my problems out in the open with her. She explained we all put our problems in a box not dealing with them. Pull yourself together , get on with it, we use all these excuses not to face a problem and deal with it. Then finally they come over the top and you just can't cope with them all. Every body gets scared but its how you face that fear that matters.
Eva… Well Done & Congratulations 👌🇲🇽🏔️🏆 Fears faced… & overcome 🙏 We, your fans are so very very proud of what you achieved here! Your thoughts & feelings of the Wonderland Trail, must have weighted heavy on your mind, but that was no failure either, that was due to an unbeknown to You ‘illness’ at the time, the decision to do what you did, took more courage. Your body was screaming at you, a type of ‘self-preservation’ - that day, you took the right decision. What this trip did, was restore, in your mind, what YOU are truly capable of… Go & celebrate your success with your best mate… Vilk & grab yourself a fabulous lucky woof hug! Take good care both of you & continue to both stay safe. 🙏🐶👩🏻
Very nicely captured and presented, as always! This really brings up many memories for me. I climbed Orizaba around 1985, and was asked to lead the climb, as our guide wasn't feeling well that day. It was about 5F and very windy. I ended up with frost-bitten feet and high-altitude pulmonary edema on the summit, and wondered if I'd lose my toes or be able to descend, but got my strength back quickly on the way down. Piedra Grande hut was infested with rats at that time, scurrying over our sleeping bags at night. I still have those old leather boots, strap-on crampons, and wooden ice axe hanging on my wall as art now :) Here's to many more adventures for both of us. Stay safe and make these lifelong memories!
Wooo hoooo you did it - we are so proud of you t- hat was a seriously epic adventure. I can't believe you did it so fast and managed to film it as well . You are an inspiration to us all. Sending much love from us C&M xx
We recently drove past Pico de Orizaba! We waved at you as you went by! It's also the tallest volcano in North America. So glad you're highlighting it. Hard to believe it's so close to the coast of Veracruz.
I remember reading Bernal Diaz' account of the conquest. He recalls many of the men viewing Orizaba from a ship in the Gulf and speculating on whether the white stuff they were seeing was actually snow in those latitudes.
Sooo much more dramatic than any action film!! Amazing and beautiful, the views but so much more your accomplishment in I doing it!! Hardcore!! Thanks for taking us along…
This is surely one your absolute best VLOGS Eva! So stoked that it has given you more confidence again in your own amazing abilities. As for North Face sponsoring this VLOG = brilliant and long may it continue - you're such a great brand ambassador and it really is a good brand too (been in love with their gear for decades now). Love the beautiful photography too - you've captured the mountain's majesty 🙂
Eva you’ve been an inspiration for me during lockdown when I was stuck in Oman, watching your adventures in Socotra island. Thank you for always sharing your journey with us despite the haters, the low moments and all ❤
Dear Eva, I'm from Mexico, currently living abroad, and this video made me feel so emotional, thank you. Those images from the summit are so beautiful. I'm happy to know that you made it to the top of the Citlaltepetl. Wish you the best time in Mexico.
Brilliant, Eva. I used to climb fourteeners in Colorado. The thrill of summiting, of seeing your birdseye view in the colours of high altitude, cannot be described any other way than just being there, yourself. Well done, you
In 1991 I did a similar climb up the volcano just south of Mexico City. It was 18000 ft. a little less than yours. Popocetipectal or something similar. I am strictly an armature going with a friend who climbs alot. One of the hardest things I've done. And proud of it. One step at a time. You go girl.
Popocatépetl, it's an active Vulcano (recently had a big blast) but that one is closed since around 2000's because people got injured climbing it (yes, because of a vulcanic explosion).
Evening Eva, Wow what an Epic video! What an incredible view too to see the dawn and the mountain casting it's vast shadow. I bet your feeling an incredible high for achieving that goal too. That other wonderland trail.. we all have over off day's and just so happened you had one in the middle of that hike, but like the very experienced explorer that you are you made the right call at the right time...that's what I think anyway for what it's worth. Onward to more adventures! Health@Happiness to you.
I have warned "The North Face" ski jacket for over 20 years gray across the top of the shoulders down the sleeve, the rest red with, The North Face emblem on the front in gray on red beside the zipper of the left lapel pocket. It looks light but it's actually very warm even though the side pockets zippers have failed I still love this jacket and to this day wear it constantly, to some of my relatives Chagrin! You picked an excellent sponsor, or and excellent sponsor picked you!!!!! That was a pretty awesome achievement without any extra oxygen! I would be carrying at least two of those little hit cans with the built-in face mask.
Orizaba is such a fun climb. Did it a few years ago and the conditions were awful right until the morning we climbed. Lucked out and made it to the summit. Incredible view from up top
Oh my goodness! Eva! Thank you so much for THIS! I will tresure these views! A place i am sure i will never get to and you took us on our Private climb. 6hr 20min. I am in AWE OF YOU!
I am so excited for you that you took this beautiful journey. And thank you for sharing your journey with me and all your viewers. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Beautiful views. My dear Mexico has so many natural wonders. Congratulations Eva for your enthusiasm and strength to continue, they arrived in 6 hours!!!! Enjoy, many greetings from Mexico City 👋🏻😃
OMG 😱! You have reminded me of when I climbed Mt. Shasta. I was 19 and was a summer intern timber cruiser working for the Mt. Shasta Ranger District, living in a US Forest Service cabin in the mountains west of the city of Mt. Shasta. On a weekend I drove to the parking lot at the base of Mt. Shasta’s peak. There were a couple of pretty girls lugging skies on the side of the road trying to hitch a ride on the road up but I didn’t stop because their skies would have scratched up the inside of my Camaro 😅! The drive took longer to get there than I expected, the sun was already just starting to set. I had NO IDEA 🤷🏻♂️what I was doing! I did have a puffer North Face down jacket I had for years that was very warm and I had a warm hat, I also wore some leather work gloves they were all I had. I looked at the trail signs that pointed to a trail that wondered off somewhere and looked up at the ridge that headed straight up almost to the peak so I went that way! That worked for the first couple hours of climbing, luckily Mt. Shasta is so much higher than all surrounding mountains the sun stayed up longer than usual at those hights, but then it started looking dangerous! I couldn’t see the peak so I wandered off into the East face that was a MASSIVE bolder field, the going through the boulders was difficult but it was a clear route to the top. It was arduous 😥 and boring because it took forever, I just kept going. My hands were very cold as the gloves had long since soaked through. Finally I wondered up to the top, it was 12:30 AM, there were various groups of young hikers at the top who had all sorts of equipment they were all pretty cranky they said it was a lot colder than expected. One guy was with a group that had set up camp in a secluded space in the boulders at the top and he was very visibly shivering freezing to death ☠️ warming his hands next to a tiny hiking stove. I was in a GOOD MOOD 😄 SMILING walking around talking to people. My hands were WARM I felt GOOD, a little lightheaded, I had the early stages of hypothermia and I knew it! I saw everything there was to see at the top and walked directly west over the snow, probably over the glacier at the top, and headed down the steep side covered with snow. I was taking huge many foot leaps through the snow down the face because it was steep so I could move a little faster that way. It seemed like it took forever but I finally got to the bottom and started looking for the parking lot, it was about 5:00 AM. I had not anticipated how difficult it would be to find my car, there were no lights in the area and it was pitch black! It took about 30 minutes to find my car, but I did, and drove back to the cabin. I rested up and I was fine, no frostbite everything fine. 😅
Don't beat yourself up over the Wonderland trail. You didn't quit, you had an untimely illness. These things happen and you made the right call given the circumstances. And this was an incredible climb, I can't believe you did it in 6 hours!
I was just about to comment the same thing, and I still may, just so she gets the point that lots of us feel this way. I was actually worried that she was going to force herself to push on during that run, and I had a bad feeling the whole time. I was glad she stopped, and kinda wished she had done so sooner.
@@wirelesmike73 Exactly, if she hadn't stopped and turned back on the Wonderland trail, it could have very easily ended with her getting air lifted out, or worse.
Thank you, Eva, for showing me this most beautiful place. It is something that I would never in a lifetime have seen. Your courage and endurance is most wonderful. May God keep you safe.
Hi Eva! Thank you for sharing your climbing challenge. I just love watching you in every possible situation, and how you gain confident every time. Greetings from Norway.
You did a great job of seamlessly integrating the NorthFace advertisement in your video. Your presentation is effective because you were yourself and the audience was simply watching you be your normal self.
a huge hug Eva. always my admiration for how brave you are and because you face your fears and manage to get ahead. always enjoying each of your videos, from Ecuador.
Congratulations Eva! I'm a new fan. This is only the 2nd video of yours I've seen now. I clicked on this one because I summited this same mountain when I was in my late 20's (about to turn 50 now). I don't have many pictures at all from the trip and this was like getting to relive it:) Your camera and editing skills make for some amazing viewing. Thanks for this! PS. subscribed now and will watch many more of your vids! keep it up:)
HI EVA...I LOVE HOW YOU TELL THE STORY ..YOURE ONE OF THE BEST VOICES AND THE PASSION YOU EXUBE ALONG WITH TV LIKE DOCO NARATOR ...YOU TRULY ADE LIKE DAVID ATTENBOROUGH AS GOOD AS HIS STORY TELLING...I KNOW U WOULDNT MAYBE WISH TO BE A TV PRESENTER BUT WOW YOU COULD BE QUITE WEALTHY WITH YOUR TALENT BUT YOUR RICH INSIDE AND THANKYOU ...
Wow, I would love to do this. It's a good idea to hire guides for these kinds of adventures as you learn a lot and can manage the risk better. The last 2 years have seen a lot of 'firsts' for me in terms of glacier walking, learning to rock climb, via ferrata etc. I'm learning from the guides and instructors and it's making my own exploration safer and more enjoyable
What a beautiful metaphor for life. 💕 "All the suffering, all the pain, all the sleepless nights... It's so worth it." "Just one foot in front of the other."
This accomplishment is just what you needed, when you needed it. Congrats Eva!! I look forward to joining you on your next adventure...via a screen viewed from the comfort of a warm room LOL!
Kick ass adventure and climb. Congratulations on the success and making the summit. Especially while carrying a pretty heavy pack. I know the effort well. The shadow of the mountain was a fantastic shot. I'd capture that and sell prints. Outstanding!
The last time I climbed a mountain I was 14 years old in the Boy Scouts. We went to Philmont and one of the places we went was Mount Baldy 12,441 ft. The view was incredible. I can no longer climb mountains due to my health. You need to enjoy every moment that life gives you and take every set back as a lesson learned. Never give up, keep pushing forward. Congratulations Eva, you are a very accomplished person!!!!
Congratulations. Anyone that experiences altitude sickness knows that doing anything physical over 16,000ft up is brutal. Thanks for taking us along for the ride, so well shot and edited.
Kudos to you, Eva. You are very well onto your way to adventure stardom! And congratulations on "snagging" The North Face as a sponsor. By all indications you could not have found a better sponsor. Truly an excellent outfitter! Congratulations! Your filming, narration, and editing are fabulous as well. Totally superb. Keep up the good work. But take time to relax as well.
Thank you, Eva-- I needed this today. You are incredible. And if any of us forget, we all are too. Congrats / Mazal tov. BlesSings on all your life and wisdom! ✨
You are an inspiration, Eva! I attempted to hike the Salkantay Trek this past summer and the elevation kicked my butt 😅 It was the most difficult and most painful challenge that I had ever took on. But because of you (you brave human, you), I'm going to continue doing these majestic and terrifying hikes.
Northface gear is the best! Their customer service and repair is the BEST in the business! Congratulations Eva on the climb. Careful sitting down you may not want to get up ;-) Sometimes it hurts more going down mountain, then up it!
I'm pregnant and we'll name our daughter Eva (it was the first name me and my boyfirend liked). Today, I realised that you have the same name (I knew it but I didn't think about it when we chose the name). So now, I'm even happier that her name will be Eva 💜 because I like you and your channel very very much! 😃
Very impressive---you're back in the saddle again!!! Where was Vilk???? I so much look forward to seeing him!!! Also, very happy for you and your conquering of your last episode fears----WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET GOING!!!
Awesome! and your identity is not rooted in what you can accomplish but who you are. You are valuable regardless of how far you run, where you go or what you climb.
So happy for you and for NorthFace sponsoring this for you. Great video, I felt like I was hiking it with you. Glad also you got your confidence back. Don’t forget the puppy for Vilk lol 😂
What a spectacular climb. Thanks for taking us with you. Juan is a sweetheart. I love that 'ball jacket'. Hmmm....The North Face is killing it with their product lines.
Eva, I am so very impressed with your assent of the mountain. It is huge! I have flown around it in a helicopter and the enormous beauty is absolutely breathtaking. Speaking of breathtaking, the altitude is something to respect. As a pilot I am quite used to it but not everyone can do well in it. To be doing physically demanding work such as the climb is much harder than just being there. Bravo! Your Pal Al
While climbing I always say why am I ding this to myself, IF IT WAS EASY EVERYONE WOULD TRY, ,,,,,, It's the challenge and the personal reward of reaching the SUMMIT! No the last time on the Wonderland Trail you did not give yourself the proper time needed! You went to far for one day. Finley you have some FREE quality quality North Face Apparel! Congrats on this Summit! While climbing witnessed a man die not being roped up on in his climbing party on Mt.Hood in Oregon you know that mountain on your travels.
Congrats! It can be a slippery slope to tie one's identity to accomplishments. I sense you understand this well based on what you share on your channel. Your value is beyond question...your heart is your real identity. 😀
Congratulations on the climb and for the North Face sponsorship, a perfect fit for your various journeys. I’m sure you will pick up some more along the way.
Eva. it had to be difficult in those higher elevations. I wouldn't have made it past the camp at over four thousand fee. Wow that Juan is a rock star, right? And so are YOU. You did great! I'm not trying to be critical and judgmental, but I want to tell you about my landlords and three of their friends who are sixty to 80 years old. They spent their younger lifetimes running on a daily basis together. They ran to work, ran home a lot of the time, and many days, they'd all go out running together on summer evenings. Every one of them have severe back problems today.. So bad that my landlords can't stand for more than five or ten minutes at the time while making a meal. They have issues with stairs and even going to the bathroom. Both walk stooped over. I used to run in my 20's and my ortho doctor asked me if i was a runner. He said "stop now before it's too late". He told me that 2-3 times a week was good for our heart, but beyond that, it's bad for our retirement years. He told me to opt for brisk walking the majority of the time, so I did. My back is pretty good for sixty-seven years old. I hope you don't think I'm intrusive. I just don't want you to have to suffer like my friends do. Blessings sent. (thank you for a very cool channel!) If I overstepped boundaries, please let me know. I don't like seeing people suffer. xo
Congrats Eva! Very proud of you that you accomplished something that many people wouldn't even attempt to do or even try for that matter! Also Thank You for showing us how beautiful our great world is! From the central part of the US wishing you safe & warm travels on your journey!

I had not anticipated how difficult it would be to find my car, there were no lights in the area and it was pitch black! It took about 30 minutes to find my car, but I did, and drove back to the cabin. I rested up and I was fine, no frostbite everything fine. 😅
What an amazing journey. Big thumbs up to the guide, he was so passionate and caring :) Youre the perfect team
So awesome. So Awesome. Thank you for filming. Thank you for sharing.❤
Don't beat yourself up over the Wonderland trail. You didn't quit, you had an untimely illness. These things happen and you made the right call given the circumstances. And this was an incredible climb, I can't believe you did it in 6 hours!
Exactly you rock girl .🎉
I was just about to comment the same thing, and I still may, just so she gets the point that lots of us feel this way. I was actually worried that she was going to force herself to push on during that run, and I had a bad feeling the whole time. I was glad she stopped, and kinda wished she had done so sooner.
@@wirelesmike73 Exactly, if she hadn't stopped and turned back on the Wonderland trail, it could have very easily ended with her getting air lifted out, or worse.
She just wants content
Thank you, Eva, for showing me this most beautiful place. It is something that I would never in a lifetime have seen. Your courage and endurance is most wonderful. May God keep you safe.
Hi Eva! Thank you for sharing your climbing challenge. I just love watching you in every possible situation, and how you gain confident every time. Greetings from Norway.
You did a great job of seamlessly integrating the NorthFace advertisement in your video. Your presentation is effective because you were yourself and the audience was simply watching you be your normal self.
Well done Eva! Congratulations on the summit!
Great video! Epic!!! Welcome to México!!! The country with the nicest locals, the most beautiful views, and the most unforgettable experiences!!!!!!!
And cartels, don't forget those.
Wow! Congratulations! That's incredible!
a huge hug Eva. always my admiration for how brave you are and because you face your fears and manage to get ahead. always enjoying each of your videos, from Ecuador.
A beautiful and poetic video- loved it, as always!
yay - always happy to see another adventure post from Miss Eva!
I loved this video. That view is simply breath taking. Thank you for sharing this.
Finally!
Old Eva is back.
I really like this kind of vlogs of her.
Hi Eva, You are one amazing adventurer and storyteller. Looking forward to your next one. Stay safe.
Epic,Eva!!🙌🏼
Great job Eva !! What an incredible achievement !❤️
Congratulations Eva you did something not many people could or would do!
Gratulacje Eva !!! Dopielas celu !!!😃🎉🎊🎉🎊💪💚🌺🍀
Thank you Eva for taking us all up with you. Bravo!
Wow !
Another extreme adventure Ma'am Eva,
Congrats and be safe always po on your every Adventure,
😊💪❤️🇵🇭
Very impressive---you're back in the saddle again!!! Where was Vilk???? I so much look forward to seeing him!!! Also, very happy for you and your conquering of your last episode fears----WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET GOING!!!
I always cry with your art, Eva. Sending you love from Brazil.
You never cease to amaze me, Eva. You are truly an inspiration. I hope we crossed paths someday.
Awesome! and your identity is not rooted in what you can accomplish but who you are. You are valuable regardless of how far you run, where you go or what you climb.
So happy for you and for NorthFace sponsoring this for you. Great video, I felt like I was hiking it with you. Glad also you got your confidence back. Don’t forget the puppy for Vilk lol 😂
Wish Patagonia would've sponsored her. She's been sporting Patagonia clothes for a long time and they are very eco friendly.
Bravo! Your Pal Al
Eva, you are incredible! Your message at the end of the video is really encouraging!
So, thank you, really!
Parabéns 👏 seus vídeos são incríveis
Awesome job. Not every challenging goal can be claimed, but this one... you knocked out of the park. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Gratuję wstąpienia do rodziny sportowców The North Face :)
Juan was also my guide on Pico de Orizaba. Only the best! Congratulations on a successful journey
Been missing these kinda videos. Brilliant achievement, would love to climb it one day.
You rock Eva keep it up
Congratulations, Eva! Taking the challenge one step at a time!!!
Congrats! It can be a slippery slope to tie one's identity to accomplishments. I sense you understand this well based on what you share on your channel. Your value is beyond question...your heart is your real identity. 😀
👌
Congratulations on the climb and for the North Face sponsorship, a perfect fit for your various journeys. I’m sure you will pick up some more along the way.
Juan Mendoza was my guide on Pico de Orizaba in February 2020. He was great, very patient and encouraging !! Glad you were able to climb with him !!
What guide service is he with!? Was hoping to climb Pico de Orizaba this year!
@@basajaunnn OMG Orizaba Mountain Guides is company I booked through
@@timothyvanriper8074 thank you so much!
Eva. it had to be difficult in those higher elevations.
(thank you for a very cool channel!)
If I overstepped boundaries, please let me know.
Another great video!! Nice to have you back in North America. Travel safe wherever your adventures take you.
Your my hero, your going places I’ve never been and taking all of us along. Thank You so much
Yay! another video. Keep safe Eva 🤍
Great job Eva so proud of you! The true failure isnt not finishing but not even trying! ❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations Eva. The video was worth the wait. Thank you always.
Wonderful journey. Thank you!!!!
