Amazing, yes. Unexpected that someone with passion for faithfully telling the story instead of pushing some "message" would produce better art, not at all. I just hope the trend continues and that Big Hollywood goes bankrupt and is forgotten.
Back when George Lucas had no money, just an idea, Star Wars was a labor of love. But then, after he became rich off the franchise, it became more, 'throw more money at it', and it showed in the prequels. Corporations are not interested in taking chances on labors of love, they want a return on their investments, so rather than tell a good story, they'll try to dazzle you with over reliance on special effects.
It's sad when we can see what can be done by people who actually care & KNOW THE CANON of what they are making & on a shoestring budget at that, compared to disgusting nonsense they put out as "official product "vomit. Some fan films are cringe, but their hearts are in a good place. Then there's really good stuff like what you mentioned. Thanks Dave!
Batman Beyond was a great series. I always wanted to see more done with the property but I'm also glad Hollywood hasn't gotten a chance to mess it up...yet.
I used to love thier channel until new trek lol I just couldn't listen to them trying to pretend discovery was good. 😂😂😂 obviously people are allowed to like what they like..
Sad that all woke companies want is to make garbage like the new lord of the rings movie where the main characters humiliates every man she encounters including her father, easily kills the main villain and rides off into the sunset with her lesbian lover. I still really wish I was making up the ending
One of the good things about making fan films about Batman is that since he's an unpowered human fighting other unpowered humans it's easier to make a film doing him justice than as, Superman.
Hollywood (especially Disney) purged out much of its creative talent and replaced them with wokee amateurs. “Fan film” used to mean amateur productions of low quality, but that now describes major Studio producers. Actual fan films are frequently well written and produced, and their makers are the new professionals while big Studios put out amateurish trash. The tide has turned and Studios are falling behind by their own hand. Good.
The Problem with the Popcast channel is that the creator is semi-woke and dislikes sexiness and female beauty. He makes up stories about actresses hating their revealing clothing in older movies or TV shows. But when I checked the interviews and sources, it turns out many of the actresses actually were fine with their costumes. Some were even proud because they worked hard in the gym to get into shape for a role and gave interviews talking about how proud they were and had no problem showing off.
its so good how what these little studios can create on a low budget, and do a comparison to what mainstream spends millions for a movie that looks very sub par, makes you thinks
I think it's so terribly sad that these aren't original ideas. (Other than Rebecca Gold) All that creativity and attention to detail, in the service of paying homage to mega corporations that actively hate their fans. Make something new, damn it. Then, not only can you tell whatever story you want, but you'd fully own your creation.
Another great example of Star Wars fan fiction comes from the youtube channel AFK. They're usually 5 or so minute shorts that go into currently 2 seasons and are some of the best I've seen so far.
The Batman beyond short film looks awesome. Gonna take a pass on the Star Wars one though. Nothing against the fan film or the makers of it, just cant do Star Wars anymore.
To be fair; Sony seems to be learning that we don't want to see old favourites being killed off and replaced with new editions. Bringing Ghostbusters back and now they've got Karate Kid Legends which has Ralph Machio and Jackie Chan training a new kid.
I love these positive reviews! Plz do more of this type of stuff! I know they don't get as many clicks, but there's only so many times I can watch the same outrage at the same garbage hollywood stuff. And outrage doesn't actually help the problem.
fun fact terry mcgunnis is also technically the son of bruce since bruces dna was used to secretly alter terrys dna when he was still in his mothers womb (this is explained in the comic book series)
Your recommendations are ranking right up there with Critical Drinker, and that's saying something. He's a little too jaded about star wars and star trek to delve into those, so your reviews are appreciated.
Dave really needs to get on an episode of Friday Night Tights, or the Real BBC with AZ and Garry, possibly Mauler and Drinker too. That would make for a savage episode, we also need a bit of Irish representation in that arena of Titans.
You’re way too kind, Dave. With the exception of the UK show, all i see are fanboi’s suckling on established franchises. 20-some years ago, Lucas said that he would cringe when people told him that Star Wars had inspired them to be filmmakers - because George knew that it would bottleneck creativity, and here we are.
Why does he refer to the 'Batman Beyond' film as 'Live Action'? And I hope they managed to put some sort of 'new spin' on that 'Rebecca Gold' concept, because it sounds like a very generic action premise. Is there any reason I should give this a shot instead of just watching the 'Bourne' movies again?
Eh. Bucketheads lost me after the second episode. First was great, don't get me wrong, but the second had a couple early warning signs that things were going downhill. ... it also didn't help that one of the actresses couldn't shut up about female empowerment during an interview, and how the story is based in the Disney timeline.
Other than you falling for the Paramount "Picard" S3 ploy like so many other usually smart commentators, your views are usually spot on. Going to have to check these out...even if the Trek one leans into Kurtzman "Trek" a little.
-Never watched Batman cartoons. Not interested. -Alien was ok. Only saw it once. Aliens, however, I would be interested in a documentary about. -Rebecca Gold: Never heard of it. Can no longer stand female-led shows. Pass. -I might look at Bucketheads. -I have absolutely no interest in any characters from STD or any other NuTrek. I wish OTOY had excised that entirely and just handwaved it rather than acknowledge that crap exists. I freely admit that these shows probably have excellent production values, may be well-written, and will please fans of these franchises. I just don't care about any of them, either through prior ignorance of its existence and dislike of the premise, indifference to the source material, or having my affection for the franchise destroyed by creators who hate me. I'm glad you do these videos, because I've seen some good stuff because you recommended it, but this one I have to pass on most of it. Sorry.
Another great short fan made film is about Gambit; it has Eric Stoltz starring in it. Called Gambit: Play for Keeps. 20 minutes long, and well worth it. ruclips.net/video/NegUHlzn_qs/видео.htmlsi=zNeNsjG0TYQ1BMv1
If Hollywood won’t give the fans what they want, the fans will take matters into their own hands.
True compair the Sims 4 Star Wars DLC to what the fans build, the fans did it better
So true!
If it is in Disneys archives... than it does not exist.
Tip of the hat and a big cheers 🍻 to these incredible creators!! These products are popcorn worthy 💯
Couldn't have said it better myself 💯
its amazing how fans with no money can make something better than billion dollar studios
Amazing, yes. Unexpected that someone with passion for faithfully telling the story instead of pushing some "message" would produce better art, not at all.
I just hope the trend continues and that Big Hollywood goes bankrupt and is forgotten.
The billion dollar studios probably splash most of their money today’s version of Epstein, whoever that may be… 🧐

More like they/them can no longer sell us 💩
The Batman Beyond Year One looks BRILLIANT. The fight scene looks so great.
I just saw that film the other night. Absolutely spot on. We need more of this!
This proves that Star Wars and Star Trek is NOT dead,
Hollywood is!

The fans are making the best stuff
The Fans are doing Hollywood's work for them. Again
The fans are tired of Hollywood and are doing the job themselves. This is how a new crop of directors and crew starts.
LITERALLY "writing" WOKE _out_ of the mix 👍 !
Thank you David Cullen 🙂
The Trekyards guys get a lot of studio assets and insider info to work with, they're pretty chill dudes to chat with as well
I used to love thier channel until new trek lol I just couldn't listen to them trying to pretend discovery was good. 😂😂😂 obviously people are allowed to like what they like..
What? Dave, are you saying that fans can create better entertainment than Hollywood? Who knew? 😃
Everyone have a wonderful day.
Great to see Rebecca Gold in the list. An excellent series from an all-round top bloke.
The Batman Beyond series is excellent, the animated movies were pretty good too.
Highly recommended.
It was clearly inspired by Akira.
@@anubusxIt clearly was not

Wow! Ain't no way I'm sharing my film on here, compared to these beauties!
Thanks! Its a treat to hear positives on any videos/films/ etc, esp when they earned it.
Oh my god, the Batman Beyond Year one is incredible! This could have been you Warner Bros with this success of a live action Barman Beyond movie.
The Viking Wolverine short and "Legend - A Dragon Ball Tale" are dope fan films too.

My favourite Star Wars fan made shorts are courtesy of the good folks at AFK. Perhaps not as flashy, but the dialogue is hilarious.
Rebecca Gold is a great pick. It’s the perfect time to catch up as Season 2 is finishing up post-production.
I dunno Dave, WB's Batwoman (She / Her) set the bar pretty high for the Batman franchise.
its so good how what these little studios can create on a low budget, and do a comparison to what mainstream spends millions for a movie that looks very sub par, makes you thinks
Of all the projects to bring Michael Keaton back for, never forgive DC for wasting it and not giving us this. This could be the sequel to his films.
Bring back Star Trek Continues
There you go Dave! I love seeing positive stuff. You've a great brain, enjoy seeing it used in this way. Thank you sir.
Thank you
"Acting?" Are you sure it's acting? The Batman Beyond fan film could very well be AI Assisted. Looks good. Thanks for the recommendations.
Thanks for these recommendations!!😊
The drop-dead date for the current Hollywood business model is sometime in the 2030s, when the copyrights for these popular franchises start expiring.
Buckheads shames Kathleen Kennedy's ability in every way.

It’s only a matter of time until one of the fan productions gets more mainstream attention than the bulk of the official content.
